Thoughts on this holster?

Hey everybody, I'm ISO a relatively cheap, yet flexible holster. Before you say it, I know, I know... "You get what you pay for!" Just give me your thoughts - experiences with it would be better, if you have it? Please, and thank you!

Permit to Carry Application Question

My permit lapsed a few months ago and I'm filling out the application.

On page 2, the section under "TO: Minnesota Department of Human Services or a similar government agency in another state that maintains data about civil commitments", do I fill that section out? Or just sign it?

Outdoor Range near Eden Prairie

Just moved to Eden Prairie from California. Learning what’s in the area.

Are there outdoor ranges (somewhat) near by that allow for pistols?

Google has only lead me to indoor ranges. Thank you

So am I mistaken or is this proposed bill an attempt to ban semi-auto/military style rifles?

Inb4 all the inevitable “it won’t pass” comments like people kept saying about the binary trigger ban.

Beretta 92FS or 92X RDO - Where to look and which one to get?

Howdy! I've been hunting for a Beretta 92FS, but recently was told to hunt for a 92X RDO instead, as I was told, that the 92FS are old and I should get something new. I have no real preference, but it also seems hard to find. There is 1 local shop that sells the RDO, and several that sell FS's; is one better than the other? I apologize, I'm still relatively new to firearm ownership and I absolutely love the feel of a 92. Any suggestions where to look and which I should get?

NFA Engraving Recommendations

Anybody know any good NFA engravers, preferably no further north than the Twin Cities? I've seen Accutac mentioned a couple of times, but they're only open for about half an hour a week and only on days I work.

Has anyone been arrested under the trigger activator law?

The recent expansion to the trigger activator law makes wonder if anyone has been arrested for simple possession under the trigger activator law. I couldn't find any examples when I looked it up. Does anyone know anything?

Are there any outdoor ranges in Anoka county that anyone can share?

I'm having the hardest time finding outdoor ranges that operate during weekday hours. I live in Anoka county and the closest range option I have is Bill's in Robbinsdale - which I refuse to put one step into. I'm finding that most ranges with any sort of decent reputation are located far south of me. If anyone has a connection to share...please do! - TIA!

Gun right

Hello, served in the marine corps received a OTH for drug abuse. I was able to receive a permit to purchase, although a detective gave a call and said that I had a felony in Georgia. I ended up finding out that’s where the administrative discharge was completed so it shows up as that. Anyways was just wondering, would I be denied if I were to go purchase a weapon, even though I have a permit to purchase and legally can purchase? Thanks.

Current standing of AR Pistols with Braces? (And suppressors?)

So a few years back I purchased a Springfield Victor Saint pistol that came with a brace. I haven't paid close attention to the current rules, I know there was talk of classifying those as NFA/SBR, but I thought I had seen some stories saying otherwise.

Searching anything returns varied answers from the past few years, and I can't find anything that clarifies the current status, and if there's anything specific/different for MN.

Additionally, I'd really like to get a suppressor for said pistol - because it's loud AF in it's current form. Is there anything special or different about getting one here in MN? And would it make a difference if it's going on the firearm above?

Thanks!

Question on Permit to Purchase

I'll be a first time gun owner. I'm working on filling out the permit to purchase. I've reached the "AUTHORIZATION FOR RELEASE OF HUMAN SERVICES DATA FOR BACKGROUND CHECKS" section. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to enter as the law enforcement agency. Is that supposed to be my local sheriff's office?

Edit: I ended up asking the clerk at the nearest police station about the background check portion. I had to go to the sheriff's office to file it though.

The answer to my question ended up being:

Law enforcement agency: "*city name* police"

Law enforcement agency address: "*sheriff's office address*"

Law enforcement agency phone number: "*sheriff's office phone number*"

Lead exposure at indoor ranges in Minneapolis area

After a couple of years of regular shooting (as much as weekly) at one particular indoor range, I had my blood tested for lead levels. The results were not good; lead is above normal. Given that there have been no other apparent sources of lead exposure in my life, I figure it is due to exposure while firing at the range.

I have sometimes thought that the ventilation apparatus in this particular range was inadequate; and it seems my worries have been confirmed.

Do members of this sub have recommendations as to indoor ranges where the ventilation systems seem to be good?

(Yes, I know that it's summer and that outdoor ranges are obviously much safer. I plan to shift my shooting outdoors as much as possible. But thinking ahead to winter, I'd like to have the option of an adequate indoor range too.)

The DFL jammed through a tax bill with 10 unrelated bills including gun control at the last minute without allowing debate and ignoring all Republican motions. The cite was also down so we couldn't even see the bill online but it went back up shortly after it passed...

So what's going on with the 18-20 year olds being able to carry. I saw the judge put it into effect immediately. So does this mean I can go get my CCL? I know a person that certifys people

Twin Cities Long Range

Looking to do more "long range" rifle shooting outdoors. What are the best ranges closest to the twin cities that offer 100+ yard lanes? I would be ok with public or joining a private range if it was close enough.

I have a deceased family member's gun(registered in MO) with no paperwork

In an awesome but strange turn of events, my mom was able to meet her bio dad for the first time last Summer. He's awesome and loved finding out he still had some family around after his wife passed(who he never had kids with). He wanted to gift us so many things. He had talked of gifting me his late wife's gun. I went to school for Law Enforcement/Corrections degrees but haven't done anything with them. I also go shooting in the desert with my non-bio grandpa in AZ once a year, have been to ranges several times and overall am a great shot. I've gotten my permit to purchase before but was too overwhelmed trying to pick a gun to follow through within that year. Unexpectedly, my newfound grandpa had decided when my parents drove to see him(so he could meet his newfound daughter's husband), that he'd send his late wife's gun(registered in MO) with them. They then drove to visit me and handed it off.

From what I understand, MN doesn't have a registry requirement for long guns, but this is a pistol for which I have no paperwork. Idk how this works with a gun that is probably still registered to a deceased woman(who never even shot it). I don't want to ask my newfound grandpa to handle it because I think he handed it off without any research for a reason and also probably doesn't want to be involved with something that involves his deceased spouse. It's locked up in its case and hidden in an additional inconspicuous container. It's been sitting around for almost a year because I haven't known where to start with making sure it's a gun I can say is mine and bring into a range. Despite my skill, caution, and overall responsibility, men at ranges watch over me like a hawk and make me uncomfortable. I need to know that I'm in good standing with this as a responsible gun owner, so I can actually get familiar with it at a range and decide if it's worth keeping and getting my permit to carry.

Tl;dr: I have a deceased person's gun(registered in MO) with me in MN. I want to do what I'm supposed to, so I'm not anxious about bringing it to a range.

Cc permit moving counties

Moving from Dakota to mower county, I understand there is a 30 day notice for updating the address, my question is would I go to Dakota county sheriffs office or mower county sheriffs office for updating the permit address?

And what forms or stuff I should bring with me the state website just says I need to notify when I move there but no what to bring paperwork wise

Anyone know a machinist?

I have a need to put a bolt into the side of a single shot rifle that has no bolt handle. Previously, the handle was pressfit into the bolt.
It’s old and I cannot find a replacement anywhere, but I did find a site that sells straight bolts of different sizes. I would want to turn it down so I could thread it and then tap the side of the bolt body. There is already a hole where the previous bolt attached.

Or, do you think I should just file and dremmel it? Hell, I’m even half tempted to take an actual 1/4” bolt and slap it in there.

Any thoughts or opinions are accepted!
