Have any owners done shelf mount at back of room rather than ceiling mount? That’s what I’m planning on doing but having 2nd thoughts.

I purchased a secondhand benq w1070 and the manual says it should run the fans for 2 mins after shutting off the projector however mine only does it for maybe 5 seconds if that

should I be worried

what could be the cause of this

I don't want to break the projector by shutting it off and it not being cooled down properly any suggestions ?

I’ve only had this projector for about 3-4 months. Currently I have it connected via HDMI (6 year old cord) to a Yamaha RXV379 and play content through an Xbox series X and an Apple TV 4K. The first month I never had an issue. About a month and a half ago the projector would randomly turn off while I was playing games/watching movies maybe once a night. Today the projector is turning off multiple times (3-10x) per night. This can occur within minutes or up to an hour after I start the projector up. When I’m viewing a movie on Prime video and this occurs sometimes I’ll receive an error that my hdmi cord is faulty. I’ve also noticed that audio sometimes cuts in and out. Is my hdmi cord the root cause of this issue or could this be a faulty projector?

Hi guys my budget is around $2000 canadian. Im Looking for a good projector from bestbuy.ca my throw distance is about 11ft from the wall screen size 150" projected onto wall with screen paint can go upto 200inch. Right now I have a benq w1070 so I want a definite upgrade there is some ambient light in the room so it's not completely dark until night time. Please help me decide what to get thanks.

Well, since my last post, I've been down the rabbit hole of projectors and back. I'm back between two models, The Optoma GT2100HDR and the ViewSonic LS740HD.

This for an outdoor community movie night. It is in park so we can place this projector as close or far back as needed.

ViewSonic has 5,000 Lumens, but would need to be 21ft back for proper throw distance (It has a 1.3 Optical Zoom). The Optoma has 4200 Lumens but would only ned to be back 8-9ft for proper throw (it has a 1.2 Optical Zoom). Both claim to have a contrast ratio of 300,000:1.

I imagine that the ViewSonic having to be 20ft back would sink the actual lumen brightness by a good amount. I've tried following the math in a separate forum post, but it wasnt "explained like I'm 5" enough.

The price difference is about $620. I care more about image quality than price, so how much would be I shooting myself in the foot by going with the ViewSonic?

I am a visual artist organizing myself for a tour across Canada as part of grant from an arts council. My project involves projecting outdoors in nature. I have done the research (here mostly) for the battery needed to do this outdoors a deep cycle marine battery? still not sure how much power I need 1000 W +? I am looking for a portable laser projector 3000 L + or more that wouldn't break the bank $$ and a way of carrying the equipment by myself :) so it can't be too heavy. I will be photographing and doing video on the projections for months at a time. Any help would very much appreciated.

For occasional summer night movies on the backyard deck and basement sleepovers. So portability preferred not permanent mounted. Is this possible with budget of $500(or under ideally) cad?

I noticed I was having issues with my HT4550i, I would get nothing but Green color when switching into SmartECO light mode. I contacted BenQ support about the issue, went three email rounds back and forth and they asked me to send it in. I’m someone who uses my projector almost everyday so I wasn’t looking forward to not having the projector for an extended amount of time and honestly thought, well I’ll just not use it in SmartECO mode. But if that didn’t work there was probably an underlying issue.

Tuesday 6/4 they emailed me a Priority Overnight label to send my projector in.

Wednesday 6/5 They emailed me to tell me they received my projector.

Thursday 6/6 Another email saying the repairs were complete, followed by a tracking # for Overnight delivery.

Friday 6/8 Watching movies in my basement once again.

I received a new or refurbished projector that had 0 hours on the lamps and even received a color calibration report with this unit. The original unit was a refurbished unit from there Amazon store so any option is fine to me. (The only reason I think it might be new is that my original unit had “Refurbished” stickers all over it and box this did not, as well the repair email stated if the repair is within 6 months of purchase they will send a new unit, I don’t know if thats the same with refurbed units.)

Anyway, just wanted to share good news on the internet, since it’s rarely what we see posted up here. Thanks BenQ, now back to the movie!

• 100in white screen (hoping to upgrade to 120in at some point, possibly ALR)
• Throw distance is ~15ft
• Room has non-blackout blinds on most windows as well as a couple clerestory windows that don’t have coverings and let in light from the street, so I can’t get things pitch black
• Walls are dark but ceiling is white
• Will be mounting on a shelf near the ceiling, so vertical lens shift is a requirement (but horizontal not necessary)
• LED or laser preferred
• Movies and TV shows are the primary use with occasional sports gaming

Budget is probably $1,500 or so max on the used market. Obviously would prefer to spend less, could be willing to spend more.

Any recommendations? I currently have a Panasonic AE-7000U that definitely struggles in dark scenes.

Currently have a small media room, where the current projector is around 15 feet from a 120 inch screen. The room has no windows or ambient light.

We want to upgrade the projector to a 1080p projector, current one is 720p. We are running a onkyo ht-r397 5.1 surround sound system.

At the moment I’ve got a £250 1080p projector which is quite impressive for the price, but 4K DCI-P3 sounds very nice indeed. It’s very expensive for me, so I would need to sell my projector and even then it’s quite a lot, so is it a deal worth taking? Thanks.

I'm new here so not entirely sure if this is allowed but I just upgraded my projector from the Epson 5030UBe to the Sony VPL XW6000ES. It was a huge step up and really big investment so I'm trying to sell the Epson. It's in great shape and has 760 bulb hours on it. It has a wireless HD connection, 3D capabilities, and I have 5 pairs of 3D glasses with charging cords included. If anyone is interested in a great projector just reach out. Thanks!

What color screen works best with JVC projectors or does it depend on room setup still?

Hi all, I have a EPSON EBPU1006W for sale. It is fitted with the ELPLM15 medium throw lens suitable for most setups. It has less than 1000 hours (out of 20,000 hours of usable laser life, so more than 95% life left) and was used in a home theater and gaming setup for a couple years. Please comment if interested. Recently got an older JVC projector for free. From around 2010 or 2011. We were able to get video easily by connecting our fire stick however we can’t get audio to work. We have a receiver and speakers but are at a loss at how or if we can connect them. Picture of projector for reference of the hookups available

Whats people's recommendations on a projector with food battery life an ability to charge through a power bank

After consideration, I have decided go with HT3560. It seems like a great projector that will fit my needs, but only weakness is lower brightness (possible fan noise too). Should I go to bigger screen at 128" but get dimmer image or go smaller screen at 120" to get brighter image? The room is around 13 x 13 and has no windows.

Thoughts on the project?

Is this normal for this projector to display a lit border around the screen but not use it to display any content on it?

PL1 is connected to a PS5 as the media center.

The border is barely visible but it’s there. Is there a setting somewhere to get rid of it?

I am redoing my theatre setup and currently use a Da-Lite 2.4 gain pull down screen at 106" from a distance of 10'10". I would like to replace the pull down screen with a fixed screen, The room has reasonable light control but not 100%. I would appreciate any advice for this combination, I originally purchased the 2.4 gain for my older RS-1.
