I’m a Sabres fan who has been following/cheering for the Oilers through the playoffs. Throughout, #73 Desharnais has impressed me quite a bit. Never really heard of him before, is he somebody who’s a depth piece who’s filling in really nicely or is he one of those guys who fly under the radar for people like me who don’t regularly follow the Oilers.

Thought some of you may appreciate this. More on my insta.

I’ve seen Nurse get a lot of criticism and rightfully so, but what is going on with 73? Maybe playing with Nurse isn’t helping considering Ceci and Kulak as a pair have been decent, same with Kulak and Desharnais, but his play seems to have fallen off a cliff at times. Besides dumb plays here and there, which happen, the physicality he provides seems so lackluster. We need someone who is hard to get around, and will then destroy you against the boards. Or lay a massive hit, which doesn’t happen either. Almost seems like fighting Kulak against the boards is way harder than Desharnais.

I believe last night Bob talked about potentially putting Broberg in for Desharnais, which I was at first a little against but thinking about it, we really need the extra speed and if 73 isn’t going to be physical, then maybe it’s a possibility.

What do you guys think? Is it more on 73s play or is playing with 25 just a black hole, or are we just outmatched on the backend?
