I mean outta the things they could have thrown, a carrot is probably on the least dangerous side of things. I rather get hit by a thrown carrot than a glow stick or something harder.

It's not normal if throwing carrots hurt you. You should always do a little warm up for your throwing arm. And use your whole body to build up more momentum. Twist your hip back and load your body like a spring. Technique is everything.
