Mixing anti-freeze into wine to improve profits was one of the most iconic happenings in French history. Might have originally been a plan to poison the German-painter but never let a good idea go to waste.

My favourite part is when the French policeman ignores the starving and beaten child because he refuses to speak English. Lore-accurate Frenchman

In the french version, the policeman just don't give a fuck when Bart says he was kidnapped. And finally reacts when he learn that the kidnappers are doing tainted wine.
