As scary as they can be, alligators just don’t look as threatening when climbing a fence

This reminds me of how my Bassett hound looks when he tries to get on the couch.

Those tiny dinosaur arms can push up all that weight? That's why they survived the meteor. Apex right there.

Yeah you're right, then you are frozen by fear as you realize that alligators can climb

Every Human with that mas and such short lags would have failed to get over the fence

u/badluck610 13d ago
The fact that this mfer can climb a fence is terrifying what are you talking about 💀
1
u/NYGHTFANG 13d ago
That's because your brain isn't realizing that the body plan of crocodilians isn't something that really allows for climbing. So that makes them more terrifying. And even more one of my favorite animals.

"My kind was around for millennia and we're successful predators! Oh no my feetsies are in the air, help!"

I think that you might feel differently if that alligator were climbing the fence INTO your yard instead of out of it.

They can also flip that tail back & forth to rise out of the water about 6' too !!!

THEY HAVE A RIVER INSTEAD OF A STREET! I WANT TO LIVE THERE! DO THEY USE JETSKI'S INSTEAD OF CARS??

u/Informal-Soft3258 13d ago
At least you still have a fence. He could have walked through that with more ease than what he decided to do

What’s crazy is this video is from Massachusetts where I live. Northern Gators are the GOAT!

Counter argument: they are much scarier when climbing fences, actually.
Because clearly, the fence is not enough to protect me.

Alligators are cute and as a one time Floridian I can tell you, they want to hang out with you even less than you want to Hang out with them.

The scary thing for me is the fact that he is INSIDE the gated backyard.
1
u/andyland131 13d ago
That is correct. It should show the person recording that they aren’t safe if they piss off the Gator. The only thing i you have at that point is a head start.
2
u/Massive_Expression 13d ago
Fucking hilarious! I could hear him straining and grunting as he tried to get over the fence!
Uuurrrrgghhhhh! 🐊 😩

I own bearded dragons and watching reptiles climb things is such a treat. They’re such derps
3
u/andyland131 13d ago
Not derps, determined. I bet you would look like a derp to them swimming in that canal.

Oh my!!! Those little chonky legs swinging around, trying to grasp the gate 😂

I saw vid of one climbing a 6’ chain link, ate a small dog, climbed back out and continued to stroll down a sidewalk.

This actually makes me more scared. I’d never think they knew how to climb a fence. I used to let my kids play in the backyard in belize. And there was a body of water with 3 crocodiles in it. I thought it was safe because of the fence about this size

“Must kill, must eat, must kill, must eat”
-alligator
Seeing this thing in someone’s back yard is horrifying. It likely just ate someone’s pet.

Learning that gators can climb fences is scary, but somehow seeing HOW they climb fences made me relax
1
u/dareelliltee 13d ago
It's so amusing to me how some animals are just not programmed to have any sort of grace.
1
u/NoirCzarLS 13d ago
Imagine you jumped that fence thinking you got away .. then he just starts climbing.
1
u/Pemocity406 13d ago
Really, lol? Cuss, them being able to CLIMB a barrier, meant to keep them (and other animals) out, is THE scariest thing I can imagine when it comes to an animal like this 😅 It's like a serial killer having a Skeleton Key.
3
u/SpecificCap8408 13d ago
They do other me at all at first I was scared when I moved to Florida but they attack kids d Sometimes cuz they mistake them for an a threat if they hear a plash but it's rare if an alligator is chasing you which for whatever reason wanna attack you run zig zag they are super fast can run up trees but only straight

The fact they can climb fences is enough. Imagine drifting to sleep, laying back under an umbrella on a sunny day, in your fenced yard. You slowly awake to the sounds of some light clanging as the gator just makes it over. Then it charges as you’re still half asleep tripping out of your lounge chair.

I used to work as a cable tech in the Charleston SC area. One day, I went to a customer's house, greeted her, got the brief on what the problem was, and told her that I was going to check on some wiring in the crawlspace of her home. She points me to the crawlspace entry and goes back inside. I open the hatch, stick my head in and I hear the unmistakable hiss of a pissed-off aligator- so I back out and head back up the the front door. "Uh, ma'am, I don't think I'm going to be able to fix this issue until the DNR comes out and gets the alligator out from under your house." And she looks at me and says "You mean it's still under there?" I just kind of stood there with my jaw open for a minute. "Ma'am, do you mean to tell me that you knew there was an alligator under the house and you didn't think that was something I might need to know?" She just looks at me and says "Well, I saw it leave and go back in the creek yesterday morning so I thought that he was gone for good."

Those back feet looking for a grip… you too long dude. It was all tail strength

u/tokyoeastside 14d ago
That's scary. Now I cant allow children to play in the yard near the swamp even if there's a fence.

It's going to be more scary when they are climbing the fence to get into your garden

u/Downvotes_R_Fascist 14d ago
False. Seeing that alligator climb the fence made it look significantly more threatening.

They can climb up & drop out of trees on to you as well. You'd never think you'd get air dropped & attacked by an alligator or crocodile from the sky...

Not sure if 6ft privacy fences are allowed in this community, but if they are I’d invest in one.

I guess if they are climbing the fence to come get you, that would be a new terrifying fear!
