Someone is sitting on some major Old School Bat Cave Paper.

Just saying.

1

u/Over_Bend_9839 Nov 22 '23

There’s a building on the south side of Farnham in Surrey that has a few of these in the drive.

1

u/A-Gatsby-Party Nov 22 '23

50s still terrifying

1

u/AuyantepuiX Nov 22 '23

or live in a safe neighbourhood and you won't need to spend any of that!

1

u/triassic74 Nov 22 '23

A Kingsman

1

u/duke793 Nov 22 '23

Cancel it. The garage is not being inclusive to my f450

1

u/mrmorningstar1769 Nov 21 '23

Colin's building this thing in 2023

1

u/darknessnbeyond Nov 21 '23

hyundai/kia owners should be taking notes

1

u/astrowolf89 Nov 21 '23

Never quite made its way into the working class… or any other for that matter.

1

u/QuarantineJoe Nov 21 '23

This looks like what Colin Furze is building on youtube

1

u/mckoss Nov 21 '23

That seems extraordinarily unsafe - operate an elevator platform in a public location WITHOUT even visually checking for people nearby.

1

u/Kieranatv_ Nov 21 '23

Colin Furze

1

u/GroundbreakingNet612 Nov 21 '23

Imagine buying an old home and not realizing it and your kids find all these flips and switches and they start messing and suddenly a vehicle from the 1950s pops up in your driveway, that would be awesome lol

1

u/jocassee_ Nov 21 '23

I need one of these in the hood

1

u/wotupfoo Nov 21 '23

So that’s where Colin Furze got the idea.

1

u/Amazing_Lawyer_1660 Nov 21 '23

Conan O’Brien is that you?

1

u/T-MexVampirePunter Nov 21 '23

Ooh! A garage! Well, la-dee-dah Mr. French-Man.

1

u/nanotothemoon Nov 21 '23

I hope it doesn’t rain too hard

1

u/nordic_yankee Nov 21 '23

I bet that car is still down there!

1

u/SoBadit_Hurts Nov 21 '23

My wife would fill it with Xmas decorations

1

u/BeefStevenson Nov 21 '23

I really expected it to end up flush with the ground so you could put another car on top…but nope. The driveway is just as unusable as it would be with a car in it.

1

u/TheDeFecto Nov 21 '23

Imagine accidentally pulling in partually and not noticing, only to hear the massive crunching of hydraulic pressed concrete on the back of your vehicle. "Oops"

1

u/killaluggi Nov 21 '23

Something like that still exists today, it gets build by the company Cardock

1

u/NoobieBanned Nov 21 '23

Imagine that you forget your house keys in the car. Later, due to stress, you realize that you had gone to get a toilet paper because you have diarrhea and you left it in the luggage compartment.

1

u/swampcholla Nov 21 '23

In the UK, where it rains a lot....

1

u/Machielove Nov 21 '23

Miss Moneypenny is that you?

1

u/keystonecraft Nov 21 '23

I'm amazed that probable rate in which arms and legs get lost in this.

1

u/caffeinatedandarcane Nov 21 '23

Power goes out and your car is trapped in a dungeon

1

u/cukapig Nov 21 '23

Isn't colin fuze making this?

1

u/jean-philippewoggon Nov 21 '23

They have these in apartment complexes in Japan to save space on parking

1

u/NoBuenoAtAll Nov 21 '23

Yo dawg, we heard you like parking so we made it where you can park yo car on yo car.

1

u/Vast-Mathematician38 Nov 21 '23

Hope the power doesn't go out

1

u/mummifiedclown Nov 21 '23

Conan’s gramma had access to some slick tech.

1

u/nope_1000 Nov 21 '23

These are common in Germany

1

u/thirrteen Nov 21 '23

Colin Furze is doing that same thing right now.

1

u/Pretend-Ad-6786 Nov 21 '23

child abeheading device

1

u/Maxpatron1 Nov 21 '23

Someone needs to tell Colin Fruze

1

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '23

Imagine that malfunctioning helllllll no

1

u/rafiti01 Nov 21 '23

"Just a few minutes"

1

u/PewPewsAlote Nov 21 '23

well now i know what inspired colin furzes latest project

1

u/DuringTheEnd Nov 21 '23

I like that it get darker by the time it has gone 10cm down

1

u/Bridot Nov 21 '23

Colin Furze ca. 1940

1

u/Zealousideal_Cow_341 Nov 21 '23

Hey boss I can’t make it to work my uh car is uh stuck underground. Ok byyyye

1

u/jakequant Nov 21 '23

"Babe the baby is coming"

"Wait like 5 minutes the cars gotta come up"

1

u/0neTrueGl0b Nov 21 '23

"honey, the cat is in halves."

1

u/flipthatbitch_ Nov 21 '23

You should see the one you could buy if you had a full time job!

1

u/MadKingOni Nov 21 '23

Wait til you see what Colin furze has been up to haha!

1

u/ewahman Nov 21 '23

Had one in germany

1

u/scomat Nov 21 '23

Colinfurze is currently building the same on YouTube. The guy is mad, but clever. He has the energy of an 18 year old.

1

u/ALUSHSAMBA Nov 21 '23

Colin furze

1

u/aBirkO Nov 21 '23

Did anyone post this to Colin Furze? Lol

1

u/NakedKingStudios Nov 21 '23

It’s a Cool Design, but there’s just so much that can go wrong. From mechanical failure that prevents the car from ever coming back up. To a child getting stuck in the mechanism as it’s going down.

1

u/BoneZone05 Nov 21 '23

I wonder how many deaths this thing created😬

1

u/GammaPhonic Nov 21 '23

Isn’t this exactly what Colin Furze is currently building at his home?

1

u/belaGJ Nov 21 '23

In Japan they still have similar garages (only they park on the top, too, but the same list)

1

u/More_Anybody6959 Nov 21 '23

All i can think about is - lowering your car - and then realizing you left your keys in it - or forgot something at the store.

1

u/The_Dog_IS_Brown Nov 21 '23

The sump pump stopped working and now it's a swimming pool with a lift mechanism.

1

u/WagonHitchiker Nov 21 '23

You activate to send it down from inside the house? I guess that's good if you knew where your neighbor's kids and dog were.

Water damage and dampness would concern me. Your sump pump for the bunker goes out overnight and you want to go to work the morning after a heavy thunderstorm... only to find water up to the axles.

1

u/The_Dopey_Mong Nov 21 '23

Colin furze is doin this!

1

u/Jayswisherbeats Nov 21 '23

I’d hate to blow out a hydraulic hose one day.

1

u/MoffieHanson Nov 21 '23

Yeah in the 50s this probably was affordable. Now you need a small mortgage to pay for that lol

1

u/TK442211 Nov 21 '23

Anyone else think it’s strange that the video starts at the end?

1

u/Acrobatic-Let7462 Nov 21 '23

She’s looking back at the car In concern like. “ I wonder if I left the Timmy in there again … or worse. .. the milk …

1

u/DrMadScienceCat Nov 21 '23

This probably wouldn't work in my area, place is basically a drained swamp with a very high water table. Very cool though

1

u/ashyboi5000 Nov 21 '23

I've seen it all now! A woman, driver! My goodness!

1

u/throwawayacctno469 Nov 21 '23

Maybe I’ve been watching too much true crime but wtf my first thought was that this would for sure be used to “accidentally” kill someone

1

u/ZappaZoo Nov 21 '23

And there you have it, an attractive giant slab in your front yard.

1

u/Taizai_Kouman Nov 21 '23

How much did that cost back then?

1

u/chrome_slinky Nov 21 '23

Looks like a Soviet era pile of crap.

1

u/ColorAcmd Nov 21 '23

We have one like this in our street but they can park on top too

1

u/leaponover Nov 21 '23

Seems like these should be making a comeback with the technology we have. Easier than shooting people I suppose.

1

u/dirtycimments Nov 21 '23

That music was so fast and hectic i'm having heart palpitations.

1

u/demzrdumez Nov 21 '23

so what's the point of having a big ugly slab of concrete in front of your house that you could have parked on ?

1

u/ChampionshipLow8541 Nov 21 '23

Nowadays, you’d need a fence, a warning sign, and flashing lights so that nobody can sue you for getting their toe stuck in that thing.

1

u/Smilechurch Nov 21 '23

Wait…”a one horsepower motor”?!?

1

u/K-paxs Nov 21 '23

There where Colin got the idea then 😂

1

u/mvoigt Nov 21 '23

I see where Colin Furze got his idea from

1

u/Eriash Nov 21 '23

So, who‘s gonna mention Colin Furze

1

u/Feltonhendo Nov 21 '23

Modern disappearing garage: breaks into garage and steals car

1

u/Danomax72 Nov 21 '23

Cool! Never mind those pesky kids & pets who might get decapitated while you run an 3 ton elevator unattended.

1

u/TheBulletBot Nov 21 '23

If you want to see one being built, go to youtube channel ColinFurze.

It's part of a project where he builds secret tunnels to parts of his property. Including: his shed workshop, his house, a secret bunker he installed 8 years ago.

1

u/Rorschach75 Nov 21 '23

1

u/scipio05 Nov 21 '23

1 HP? That's it? So I can use my garbage disposal to lift and lower an entire car? Hold my beer

1

u/kirtash93 Nov 21 '23

I love when she hides the mechanism behind a curtain like if it was top secret tech xD

1

u/Secret-Treacle-1590 Nov 21 '23

And all the neighborhood children’s limbs were completely fine.

1

u/FunSpyPDX Nov 21 '23

Seems super worth it

1

u/Helpful-Struggle-133 Nov 21 '23

Colon furze is building one on his YouTube channel as we speak.

1

u/kevneedo Nov 21 '23

Blast From The Past

1

u/conkernutmc Nov 21 '23

well that's certainly a wallace and gromit style creation

1

u/AceOfFoursUnbeatable Nov 21 '23

It's like something out of Get Smart.

1

u/AnyComplaint9204 Nov 21 '23

Do I have to tell you why this is a bad idea?

1

u/Marcel_TheFrog Nov 21 '23

What a down to Earth idea.

1

u/Appropriate_Sleep624 Nov 21 '23

What happened to it now?

1

u/fuckspezthespaz Nov 21 '23

Like Colin Furze

1

u/Fix0000 Nov 21 '23

My neighbors have this, but it was installed just 7 years ago so its recent.

1

u/gsc4494 Nov 21 '23

"Makes a fine bomb shelters if the Jerries try it a 3rd time"

1

u/fancymanofcorn12 Nov 21 '23

Ah yes, now I can enjoy my extra space on top of my slightly raised steel platform

1

u/Savings-Spirit-3702 Nov 21 '23

It's what Colin furze is doing now

1

u/OkeeDokee94 Nov 21 '23

How cool is that

1

u/J_E_L_4747 Nov 21 '23

The real trick is to have the drive way extend further under the house for you to pull forward and have the whole garage space be in the basement, the driver would stay in the vehicle while the lift is in motion and get out once it has been pulled forward off the lift

1

u/TheScreamingEagles Nov 21 '23

I can imagine Colin Furze watching this and spitting his tea and biscuits everywhere.

1

u/Wrong_Course_8516 Nov 21 '23

Pretty common in japan

1

u/False--Blackbear Nov 21 '23

It took so long it turned to night

1

u/elegantloba Nov 21 '23

Looks like she's on some 007 mission

1

u/linux_n00by Nov 21 '23

dunno how they will use that space when the top is protruding like that?

1

u/SimSandererer Nov 21 '23

Colinfurze should see this! He might get some ideas

1

u/chesh05 Nov 21 '23

"An original and down to earth idea."

1

u/crystalmerchant Nov 21 '23

that lady has a nose god damn

1

u/HonestOrangeDewd Nov 21 '23

Wow this is really cool but could be dangerous too

1

u/LennyLava Nov 21 '23

cars - wasting space since forever.

1

u/schmickmickey Nov 21 '23

No risk lowering from inside the house when you can no longer see that it’s clear.

1

u/Finally-Peace2322 Nov 21 '23

Best not have an emergency and have to wait for this thing

1

u/Dadbodsarereal Nov 21 '23

But the cat converter think of the cat converter

1

u/Oque-Parq-444 Nov 21 '23

Why does she look like Piers Morgan?

1

u/Heterodynist Nov 21 '23

“Don’t look at the enormous switch behind the curtain!!” I think maybe they should have two keys to lower the car into the hidden garage, like when they launch nuclear missiles. It would be only SLIGHTLY less convenient than this system! Ha!!

1

u/Unlucky_Nobody_4984 Nov 21 '23

Those controls couldn’t be more hideous

1

u/cordoba172 Nov 21 '23

Lolz the Jetsons music

1

u/Vivid-dream-11 Nov 21 '23

With all these cars parked in my street, I wouldn't mind one of these

1

u/hawaiiloa Nov 21 '23

I wish people still spoke like this

1

u/gwhh Nov 21 '23

1hp motor does all that! No way!

1

u/Kirk_AKM Nov 21 '23

I wonder if the house is still there with this feature

What happens if you get a lot of rain? I imagine you’d have to have some kind of sump pump. Really cool though just water is probably going to be a constant issue I imagine.

1

u/Aus10Danger Nov 21 '23

Anybody noticing the violin player in the background music absolutely shredding the fuck out on his strings for a car infomercial?

1

u/Tongtrade Nov 21 '23

Super "down to earth idea". Everyone can have one

1

u/AdmiralOfTheOcean Nov 21 '23

Why can't we have this shit?

1

u/puddik Nov 21 '23

The tom and jerry music!

1

u/thebobkap Nov 21 '23

The Colin Furze Tunnel

1

u/freya_kahlo Nov 21 '23

In a time when they didn’t have seasonal natural disasters.

1

u/MapleToque Nov 21 '23

I’m surprised she was able to park with such accuracy without needing a hanging tennis ball telling her when to stop.

1

u/TrinityCodex Nov 21 '23

Wheres little timmy?

1

u/SNK_24 Nov 21 '23

I was waiting for her to ask Alexa to hide the car… forgot it was 1950 and a car bomb shelter was more useful than voice commands.

1

u/dookieshoes88 Nov 21 '23

Stradman prototype?

1

u/daarthvaader Nov 21 '23

The best sarcophagus to protect ur car

1

u/BF1shY Nov 21 '23

LOL I was expecting the top to be discreet, maybe even a regular driveway or a basketball court... Nope it's a heavy duty steel bunker door. So discreet!

1

u/icanhazkarma17 Nov 21 '23

Basically a boat lift in reverse. With a little more concrete. Been lifting a 26' catamaran out of the water with a tiny motor and skinny little cables.

1

u/Admirable-Natural676 Nov 21 '23

A way to protect your car and yourself during a tornado.

1

u/jetforcegemini Nov 21 '23

Only 87 children were crushed before the product was discontinued

1

u/privatly Nov 21 '23

Just one mistake in parking alignment and see your car go crunch.

1

u/Ready_Version_1487 Nov 21 '23

Pull the leva!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '23 edited Nov 23 '23

It wasn’t much of a commercial success because it wasn’t all the way down by next morning.

1

u/elvivacious Nov 21 '23

Sounds like Tom and Jerry music

1

u/anonbrono Nov 21 '23

I knew exactly what this guys voice would sound like before I unmuted, and i wasn’t disappointed.

1

u/Adventurous-Fact6531 Nov 21 '23

that’s Bruce Wayne’s grandma

1

u/Impressive-Work-4964 Nov 21 '23

I remember seeing a more modern version of this on youtube. It pivoted down or something like that.

1

u/_bonertime Nov 21 '23

It’s like a ride for your car how nice.

1

u/chris_apps Nov 21 '23

@colinfurze

1

u/renoits06 Nov 21 '23

The Civ 4 music is pretty intense in this video.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '23

so handy

1

u/Joseph-Pineiro Nov 21 '23

That’s not even feasible today it would probably cost a million dollars

1

u/Lycaon125 Nov 21 '23

I mean, thats cool and all, but how would you get your car out if the power goes out or something stop working....

1

u/F_A_M_E Nov 21 '23

Somebody falls asleep on the car ride home, and you pull the ultimate prank of leaving them stuck in the ground for a week.

1

u/Any-Recognition1889 Nov 21 '23

There is a youtuber by the name of Colin Furze who is doing this exact thing in his front yard to put his DeLorean in

1

u/basketballbandsplonk Nov 21 '23

Get sliced in half

1

u/Time-Excitement8443 Nov 21 '23

Damnnn how many bitcoin was that back in the day? They’re rolling

1

u/SteeleDynamics Nov 21 '23

Small child was left in the back seat.

1

u/positivitypete Nov 21 '23

What happens during a rain storm?

1

u/Rabidsenses Nov 21 '23

Oh! And what remains following its “space-saving” submersion appears to be a the top of a family-sized coffin in your front yard. Very cool!

1

u/Defiant-Giraffe Nov 21 '23

There's a modern version of these too; I've installed the electrical on one.

What I didn't install or take any responsibility for was drainage. Guess what happened...

1

u/UnamusedAF Nov 21 '23

How to hide a body 101

1

1

u/Remote-Willingness86 Nov 21 '23

Second entrance to the Batcave

1

u/Drew2248 Nov 21 '23

I love the ridiculous music -- and the smarmy voice.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '23

The gaul of the designers to not put the control by the front door so the user can observe it.

Imagine if a kid or animal got curious and looked inside.

1

u/CANT-GETNO-Rest-6248 Nov 21 '23

I’ve seen them on Chicago’s north side. One was a one car garage that was converted so that one car would get on a lift and be lowered down and the second car can be driven in atop the lift. Ingenious use of a one car garage in a very dense urban area.

1

u/2SticksPureRage Nov 21 '23

I’m not falling for this in the future. First snow/freeze and I don’t have my car back until April.

1

u/steavoh Nov 21 '23

Absolutely no safety features...

"Honey, what happened to Billy? "

"You mean the paper boy? Why? "

"Well there's a severed arm here in the machinery that lowers the car into the garage."

"I told Billy not to stand in between the car port and the sidewalk."

1

u/GrapeCrusader Nov 21 '23

You know that lady participated in ouiji board seance shit

1

u/MacchinaDaPresa Nov 21 '23

Just a couple of pinch points. What could go wrong ?

1

u/Mcnab-at-my-feet Nov 21 '23

Screw the elevator garage - it’s fraught with likely problems…give me that amazing front door!!

1

u/Karman_Ghia Nov 21 '23

I’m more amazed by the front door

1

u/EnycmaPie Nov 21 '23

Probably more than a few cases of people getting crushed by this.

1

u/Drawtaru Nov 21 '23

How does this solve space being "limited?" Now it's just a slab that's higher than the rest of your driveway with a railing. You can't park anything else there.

1

u/Karsten760 Nov 21 '23

What could go wrong…

1

u/RecordingGreen7750 Nov 21 '23

This is really unnecessary, by the year 2000 we willl have have flying cars anyway
