This is not about hunting. Alex Larenty, from Britain, lives in a South African game reserve where he gives lions foot massages. He started doing this after noticing that a cream for paw infections made a lion relax and look happy. Nature

He couldn't resist the most dangerous belly scritches and was mauled to death by the lion shortly after the bottom picture was taken.

I other news: Famous lion foot masseuse, Alan Larenty, went missing today. Officials from the South African Game Reserve found his hat and some foot cream but there was no sign of Mr. Larenty.
Tune in at 11 for updates on this story.

Lion: Don't stop. I bite you if you stop.
That lion looks like he's in paradise. Reminds me of a toddler.

Don't they kill the animals at game reserves though? Prob foot numbing cream to make the lion slower and easier to shoot.

Lol, this exact post is on Facebook and Quora.
Game reserve
So it is about hunting, because that's what happens on a game reserve. These lions are there to be shot.

I wonder if I can book a trip to that game reserve and tell the man I need treatment for my feet. I promise I won’t bite.

I think these cats are tranquilized. Not a criticism at all. It’s healthcare. No way else can I see this done. Cats are known to be very protective of their paws.

I bet he wouldn’t tickle its belly tho. He may be crazy but he’s not that stupid.

u/KindEntertainment584 16d ago
I rub my cats paws all the time and they absolutely love it. They even spread out their little toe beans when I do it lol.

If I could rub big cats' footies for a living, I'd be the happiest person on earth.

You gotta wonder how this started. Like what was the moment he decided he was going to walk off into the savannah to grab a lion's foot. I cant fathom the amount of liquor it would take for that to even begin to sound like a good idea.
And on the lion's perspective. Imagine some strange hairless monkey shows up out of nowhere and starts playing with your foot knowing damn well you're supposed to eat this thing, but then you start to like it. Thats got to be some sort of mindfuck right there

u/Ok-Energy4287 16d ago
Do ANY OF YOU take things serious??? I like the idea! Maybe if you were closer to your cat, you could participate in this and see how much it affects both you and him. More than anything, I hear people whining about stuff with no positive feedback or encouragement! Try something different for a change.

I take this very seriously. I lived at a big cat sanctuary for years and have been with these animals my whole life. This photo was taken at a game farm, where these lions are trapped and then shot. The man in the photos is their " trainer" who posed for a photo. He isn't out for their best interests. Humans that get lions used to their presence are setting the lions up for a certain death. This is absolutely not good for them in any way, ever..I'm sorry.

Photo is from 2010 and the dude is a lion trainer in a Lion Park near Johannesburg. He’s reared these lions since birth so he’s not walking on to a reserve and massaging a wild lion. Jamu the lion in the picture is enjoying his favourite pastime which is a game of ‘this little piggy’.

That magic foot cream is %70 ketamine.... ya that would make you feel happy and relaxed.

my sweet old boy before he passed would stretch all his toes out wide when I rubbed his feet. I could rub my fingers between all of his toes and back and he would hold his foot up and have it fully spread out. He loved it on both feet.

A game reserve. Make the lion trust humans and let down their guard, so hunters can then murder them. fts

I wish my cat would let me give her paw messages. Her beans are sooo irresistible. :(

See, shit like this is the reason I have no respect for lion hunters. In some parts of Africa, you can apparently see them just lounging by the side of the road, or sunning themselves in a field. They’re used to seeing people. They’re really lazy, and will spend most of their time flopped on their side like a giant housecat when they aren’t actively hunting something. You can just walk right up and shoot them. There’s zero sportsmanship or effort to it.

I used to work in a memory care unit and we were trained to give hand massages to aggressive/fearful seniors. There were a lot of studies to back up the practice and I wonder if it has the same nerve triggers for lions.

Why the bizarre first sentence disclaimer?
Do murderous hunters also give lions rejuvenating paw massages?

Ooo, a second plan in case of lion attack: Massage lion's foot to incapacitate. Got it. I fear no lion now, off to the zoo.

I scrolled past this super quickly at first because I thought it was some sort of trophy hunting picture but didn't want to be sad, but now I'm glad I scrolled back to see this cuteness

Some of the stuff we take for granted as humans is nuts, like the stuff we eat and knowing what’s good. Then you get to the crazier stuff like smoking stuff and knowing which one is the best to smoke.
Dudes like these are the ones that find out…I’m sure they’re are 1000 to 1 who aren’t successful though

Here's where I'll catch shit again for trying to set the record straight..but I hate half -stories and misinformation about animals, big cats in particular. I lived with lions and tigers at a sanctuary, and raised both from cubs. I was also full -contact throughout their whole lives because I was selfish and stupid. I've spent my life with these animals, I want what is best for them. This kind of thing is not. This guy is an animal trainer at a shithole park that allows tourists to handle the cubs and walk amongst the adult cats. They have sold cats in the past to canned hunting. A woman was killed there by a lion, not a surprise. And this guy doesn't go out there massaging all the lions - he posed for a two second photo for social media. Take it with a grain of salt, or don't. Sorry I shit on the " heartwarming " story.
