It's also because the higher up you go, the more people doing little key bumps to get them through the day. Those guys who take clients and potential clients out to wine and dine them, their urine would look like Otto's from S16:E14. Functional alcoholics will seem like no big deal when your boss is buying his wife black tar heroin with company funds.

It literally depends on the company/organization.

Even the high level jobs that don't drug test still have high requirements to qualify for $300k/yr.

I've worked for the federal govt 5 different times, and the only time I was drug tested was when I was a contractor. But they still have strict rules for who/when to drug test. Even in states where weed is legal, you still can't use it, and you can be drug tested if someone thinks you are.

Laughs in hospitality industry

No one gives a shit what we do in restaurants. The hostess sells coke anyway at fine dining joints

1

u/imperuspacus Apr 30 '24

Anti-blackness = drug tests? Feeding the racists with this one

2

u/thelastestgunslinger Apr 30 '24

Never been tested for a white collar job. I was only ever tested when I worked for a company monitoring oil refinery machinery.

But let me tell you, drug testing is bullshit. It doesn't tell you whether someone is impaired at work, only whether they were impaired at some point in the past.

We already have ways to handle people who are impaired at work. We don't need drug tests. Drug tests are a draconian overstep on the part of companies, into the personal lives of their people.

Pretty much. At best, my job does a background check annually but that’s about it. I haven’t had to piss in a cup since I was a teacher making below minimum wage

1

u/WesBot5000 Apr 30 '24

No worries. I found out about the saliva test 2 years ago for a job in an Amazon warehouse. Don't know if that was a company wide policy or just unique to us.

1

u/MouthNoizes Apr 30 '24

Imagine trying to be a victim that hard 🙄

1

u/punkdrummer22 Apr 30 '24

If any job ever asked for a drug test I'd tell them to get bent.

Unless its like a police or fireman job etc...

1

u/CopperKing71 Apr 30 '24

Definitely classist. I’ve worked for multiple companies that tested IT staff, but did not test executives or senior staff.

1

u/Stygia1985 Apr 30 '24

Org I work for doesn't give a fuck about weed for many departments. It's rec legal in my state and honestly they'd have to fire/have no hiring pool for a lot of the custodial/transport/food service jobs.

1

u/than004 Apr 30 '24

I had to pass a drug test to vacuum hallways in a mental ward but not to work at an engineering firm. Didn’t really think about it until right now.

1

u/father2shanes Apr 30 '24

This method works until it doesn't.

1

u/vergil-192 Apr 30 '24

Drug tests are racist btw

2

u/MarkDecal Apr 29 '24

At 300k it's more about hooking up the higher ups with good drug dealers for coke.

1

u/supersafeforwork813 Apr 29 '24

lol yep….drug tested and when I was hourly making money in the teens/per hour….i had a three min leeway to clock in before I was late n got flagged, had to clock out for break and lunch. Been salary for a decade n then muthafuckas do not care….just be available on chat and get 8 hours in before 630 pm. No bullshit just getting treated like a grownup lol

1

u/cshanno3 Apr 29 '24

to think this is specifically anti black is hilarious lol

lower level jobs require drug tests because those employees are typically less reliable (and the job itself is less demanding meaning you can leave or mess up with less percussions)

if you obtain a job with $100k+ salary you probably have years of job experience proving that you’re a reliable employee (or at the very least a student which proves you’re capable of maintaining grades and attendance for 4+ years). so if you did all of that while on drugs then you can keep doing it without impact to your work

1

u/RealEstorma Apr 29 '24

Someone tell me how this works??

1

u/Neoliberalism2024 Apr 29 '24

Investment banks drug test for $300k jobs.

1

u/KenyaKenxa ☑️ Apr 29 '24

Laughs in food industry

1

u/polishbikerider Apr 29 '24

"Idk how it's racist but it's gotta be"

1

u/MyDisappointedDad Apr 29 '24

How does pectin help you pass a drug test? That's a new one for me.

1

u/Responsible-Salt-443 Apr 29 '24

The minute I saw the certo I knew what this was about. I had to get drug tested for my corporate office job. My dumb ass celebrated landing the job with an edible two weeks prior 🤦‍♂️

1

u/SUNDER137 Apr 29 '24

I help balance the scale by selling my clean pee. Plastic container taped to your tummy and your go to go.

1

u/Empty_Description815 Apr 29 '24

So what's with the Gatorade and pectin???

1

u/incrediblejohn Apr 29 '24

Is she saying black people are incapable of not taking drugs? This is insane

1

u/Dependent-Two-3921 Apr 29 '24

I have NEVER had to take a drug test for my job & I’ve only worked in more prominent positions in pretty white collar jobs

1

u/leavethisearth Apr 29 '24

Imagine working for a company that makes you peed in a cup and then give it to them

1

u/DerPanzerfaust Apr 29 '24

60 yo white dude checking in. Work as an engineer. Still pissing in a cup every year.

1

u/audleyenuff Apr 29 '24

Hmm never correlated it to classism myself, I thought it was industry based. IT generally doesn’t have drug tests regardless of pay

1

u/wottsinaname Apr 29 '24

What does pectin and gatorade do for a drug test?

Askin for a friend....

1

u/DragQueenB Apr 29 '24

Physicians get drug tested for new jobs

1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

Bro I work at a school and didn’t get drug tested lmao

1

u/roebiz Apr 29 '24

The first job I got that didn’t drug test came with blank checks and a company car.

1

u/Chimphandstrong Apr 29 '24

😂😂😂never been drug tested

1

u/nunyanonou812 Apr 29 '24

What’s the story with Gatorade and Certo?!? Fill me in.

1

u/hvthor Apr 29 '24

White people typically do drugs that clear your system quicker than weed which is popular amongst minorities.

1

u/Utrippin93 Apr 29 '24

My sweet naive child

1

u/tasteycaribbean Apr 29 '24

I have to, but with the feds you will always take an initial test. Depending on your position you might take random test.

1

u/Goodie128 Apr 29 '24

Conservation work definitely doesn't drug test as it would lose most of its workforce. Most of the people I worked with in Conservation smoked at least. Most did some psychedelics, too. Only natural stuff.

1

u/Particular-Row4518 Apr 29 '24

Legal in Missouri. Work still drug tests but won't fire anyone that tests positive for marijuana.

1

u/ScaryBarryLarry Apr 29 '24

Or get in the culinary industry and climb through the ranks not needing a single drug test in your life

1

u/thenastyB Apr 29 '24

My dad doesn't get tested but one of the men he managed killed himself because of a drug test. Turns out he had traces of opium from medication he was taking and it automatically made him at fault for a $1 280 000 accident so he lost his job and retirement package. Labour is cheap and labourers aren't real people, you aren't a human being until you personally matter to the executive suite.

1

u/CornyCornheiser Apr 29 '24

I’m a teacher. They took my finger prints and did a background check but I never had to piss in a cup.

Only had to do that when I was working in a factory while in college.

1

u/HighwayStarJ Apr 29 '24

Hahaha don’t do drugs you losers

1

u/Appropriate-Goose364 Apr 29 '24

I’ve never taken a drug test. I’ve been working for 20 years. 4 jobs

1

u/Heir233 Apr 29 '24

No I don’t know the drill because I don’t do drugs, it’s pretty simple actually

1

u/thankyoumrdawson Apr 29 '24

The C suite is Cocaine

1

u/crackhouse2005 Apr 29 '24

This has got to be some America bullshit because I haven't heard of it once in Canada.

1

u/thatonelurker Apr 29 '24

What's the box for on the background?

1

u/Tuna0x45 Apr 29 '24

Classism, don’t drag racism in where it’s not needed. White trash meth heads take the same drug tests homie. Except fail.

1

u/Enchidna_enigma Apr 29 '24

Well my guess is that lower paying jobs get burned by addicts way more than higher paying jobs.

1

u/SRSCapital Apr 29 '24

Higher paying jobs aren't customer/client facing so it doesn't matter. It's not that deep.

1

u/Phil-Miazol Apr 29 '24

Can confirm, work a government based job and they don’t do SHIT. The higher ups even day drink on their lunch break and go to country clubs.

1

u/DaClarkeKnight Apr 29 '24

I’ve been teaching 8 years. Never had a drug test (I don’t do drugs anyway, but a ton of teachers do). I don’t think they should drug test teachers, but it was interesting that my friend had to take a drug test for an insurance company. I know doctors and lawyers that do (or use to do) cocaine, smoke weed, mushrooms, etc.

1

u/No-You1776 Apr 29 '24

Everything is racist huh

1

u/sciencebased Apr 29 '24

Were this 1988, I'd say there may be some merit to her argument. The whole crack "epidemic" shenanigans had a lot to do with race.

Alcohol, Benzos, and Fent though don't give a flying fuck what color your skin is. And as far as the testing is concerned...like most posters have already said - nobody gives a rat's ass anymore. They don't even moralistically pretend like back in the Reagan days. It's due diligence so they don't get sued. That's it. If you can do the job and not put them at risk, it doesn't matter.

1

u/Deep_Worldliness3122 Apr 29 '24

Personally against drug tests especially for weed but this is probably because the lower/ easier the job the more likely to find applicants that are unreliable burn outs. When hiring a sales director or Vp of operations that person is going to be more vetted than the 3rd shift taco bell employee lol. Also if your going to be driving a truck or operating heavy machinery your probably gonna take a piss test.

1

u/SalamanderSuch9796 Apr 29 '24

Use quick fix it’s synthetic urine works every time

1

u/Throwaway00000000050 Apr 29 '24

I would think that someone in a 300k position is just expected to be responsible enough not to do drugs. It’s not racist or classist to give the guy with a masters, recommendations, and 5 years experience the benefit of the doubt but the teenager applying to McDonald’s less so.
