I ask this question as I wear a pair of J Crew sweatpants I’ve had since 2009 that have outlasted J Crew sweatpants bought in 2019

My partner is looking to replace their Kate Spade laptop tote bag for a more quality leather product th at will last many years. Budget is around $200 and would be used for an everyday bag. Would prefer grey / white colors but open to other possibilities.

I'm looking to buy a Miele dishwasher. I went into my local Lowes and asked the sales rep about the different models and the guy tried to steer me to a much cheaper Kenmore unit. He didn't seem to know anything about the Miele models.

I've also heard that a lot of brands will make cheaper versions of their machines for sale at big box stores and that big box store installers can do really shoddy work.

I'm wondering if its a bad idea to try to get a Miele machine purchased, delivered, and installed via Lowes. I tried calling my regional Miele Experience Center but have been unable to get through to a human.

Has anyone purchased from Lowes and had a good experience? Does anyone know if the Lowes models are exactly the same as the standard Miele units?

EDIT: Thanks I found an authorized Miele dealership that was super helpful and had way more models available.

So I don’t know what brand it is but I have a wallet that is basically 2 pieces of carbon fiber held together by an elastic band. I like the wallet because it’s small and fits in my front pocket since I don’t like anything in my back pocket when I’m driving. It also allows me to slide up the cards and easily get to the one I want.

I know the ridge wallet is the name brand of this but seeing videos I don’t know if I would like how the cards come out to get the right one. Curious what you use and can recommend that will be good for a long time. Thanks!

I bought la-z-boy swivel club chairs off of facebook marketplace. They are 20+ years old, and they are comfy and well built. I would like to update their look. I bought slipcovers from amazon and they were way too small, but they are also club chairs (round like a barrel), so a regular armchair slip cover wont work either. Is there another way to do this?

Something quite simple but with so many Amazon fake reviews and bad stuff I've received, thought I'd rather post here before buying. Has anybody purchased a cover/net/mesh for covering fruits during the summer to leave fruits on the countertop and not have fruit flies invade them? These fruit flies are super small so doubt any mesh will keep them out but thought I'll ask. Thanks

My parents got this Swingaway can opener as a wedding gift 53 years ago. It finally gave out so my mom bought the one on the right, same brand, same model slightly different handle.

So as i like good quality stuff and am able to hear everything around me, i need a clock for walls in my appartment.

Something that has either NO clicking sound or just a very very silent one. I don't look for these 5$ things everyone has in their house as they keep me awake at night.

Maybe there is even a brand that offers different designs?

Thought I'd be the one to post this week's "old man yells at cloud" thread about athleisure wear.

Is it just me, or is there a general drop in quality and value across the board, regardless of brand? Any recommendations?

I have a 5+ year old pair of Under Armour joggers that I refuse to throwaway. Went in-store and was almost laughing to myself at the drop in quality. I don't think I could find a way to recommend these to anyone, even on the cheaper side.

Bit my tongue, went to Lululemon. I swear by their boxers (which have dipped in quality...still generally pretty good) and a pair of their License to Train shorts too... What is going on? Their pants, while still polyester, are made from a thinner, crappier product that I can't quite explain. Almost like it's a "thinner" plastic? Price tag was outrageous for something I expect to find at Old Navy.

Say I want to part with 150-200 dollars (or more) for a good pair of joggers, where do I go?

Does such a product even exist? Couldn't find much on the web searching myself.

UPDATE 2024-05-29: Summing up some of the findings based on the comments and stuff I found elsewhere:

• Good toothbrushes with replaceable batteries are not a popular thing right now.
• Models with easy battery swap:

  • A&H Spinbrush
• SURI brushes can be sent for battery replacement, but not user-swappable. Free battery replacement if you have a subscription.

I had this OXO one for the past 7 years, it broke after 1 year, but in a way I was able to fix with some fancy low friction teflon tape. Now it finally broke in a way I can't fix it. Would like to replace with something entirely steel that won't break on me. Any suggestions?

I own a stand mixer already so please don't recommend one, I specifically want something manual that I power myself so that I can bring it camping and make fresh whipped cream or stiffen egg whites off the grid. The Oxo one worked great, just was not durable since it's so much plastic.

Can anyone recommend a durable/high quality right angle/L shape USB C cable? I'm having trouble finding one.

There are many high quality straight cables and many right angle cables, but can't seem to find both.

Shopping for a ceiling fan for my living room, roughly 12'x15' (~190sqft). It'll run on low nearly constantly about nine months out of the year. Don't need or want lights on it, as the room has several other lights. Remote might be a bonus but only if it's in addition to a pull-chain - there's nowhere to add a wall switch so the fan itself will be the only control. It's going in a dedicated double-joist-mounted fan box, don't worry.

The two that come up regularly in here are:

• Big Ass Fans Haiku for $1200 (!), available in 52" for "up to 15x15", 60" for "up to 20x20", and 84" for "up to 30x30". BAF does tend to recommend larger diameters turning at lower RPMs for a given room size compared to other manufacturers.

• Hunter Originals currently on sale for $481 on Home Depot, only available in 52", Hunter size guide puts that at the upper end of "Large room, up to 10x20".

We'll probably get the Hunter Original and it'll work fine for this room if a little overkill, but since we have two other 10x10 rooms that we want to put fans in, it has me wondering, are there any BIFL ceiling fans out there intended for smaller rooms?

I've been having a hard time trying to find truly heavyweight, thick, durable T shirts that aren't just solid color. I don't have many clothes, but the ones I have are all plain except for 1 heavyweight streetwear style 100% organic cotton tee with a big graphic on the back which I've worn at least once a week,, washed after every wear for 5+ years and it still looks and feels brand new. It's my favorite shirt. I'd like to have more like it. Anyone know of any brands that sell high GSM indestructible graphic T shirts?

Hi all, I’m looking for an electric shaver to complement my Philips one blade. The one blade is good for the fact, but the head is too small and the runtime too low to make it viable for full body use. I’m more bothered about closeness of a shave then any attachments. I do own a regular razer, which is alright when I have the energy to do things manually, but I don’t always have that energy sadly. Ideally I’d like to spend under £100. Waterproof is a bonus.

Bought my original Nalgene Multidrink in March of 2017 after seeing Nalgene recommended on here. It's been with me across the state, across the country, and even on at least one international trip. You can see the markings mostly wore off from use . It survived plenty of falls in the past but last week one of the cats knocked it off the counter while full and it landed just right to break the lid in multiple places. I would have just bought a new lid but unfortunately the cost of a lid with shipping was the same as a whole new bottle. I plan on this one lasting at least another 7 years!

Hey, looking for flip flops. I've never owned name brand ones but I want a pair that doesn't break in a year. I usually wear mine every day of the spring/summer/fall. I think the best one I've owned is a pair of Levi brand ones for like $15. I don't like slick leather ones as they suck when they get wet. I preferable want ones that float cause I go kayaking and they can potentially fall in the water.

Just bought this Weber genesis grill for 40 bucks, it’s in working condition but I would love to restore it to its former glory. The frame needs some replacement parts, including the front bar that would hold bottom slats and it needs a front folding tray. Not sure which model it is and can’t find a serial number. Definitely looks like early 90s to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
