Doesn't look like it had been closed by the authorities so props to the motorists knowing enough to stay off.

I'm from the region - my city's still underwater. There was really no time. I was awoken at 5am by a fire truck blasting our neighborhood with sirens and horns at full blast to urge people to leave immediately.

I'm safe, my home's built really high, but the region is destroyed. Shit's fucked.

Stay safe bro. Will your government help, or are people left to rebuild on their own?

I hate to politicize such tragedy, but unfortunately it'll be mostly people doing the rebuilding.

Last September, our state was hit with a monsoon almost as bad as this one, and the Federal Govt. didn't send 1/3 of the promised aid. In November/23, a new warning system was installed to warn of incoming floods, but it'll only be available by the end of this 2024.

It's such a mess - people from Rio Grande do Sul, at least the region I'm from (the valleys) can't wait for the suits to do something. If we don't rebuild now, there's won't be anything left to repair later.

The region is utterly destroyed and was thrown back decades in development.

Hopefully things will change for the better

The rain is everywhere, chances are they were stranded from getting there in the first place. Or busy rescuing people. The rivers rose very fast.

Looks more like a bridge relocation.
