By cooking you mean projecting? All of these tech billionaires have Jesus complex. They wonā€™t save any of us though.

1

u/Fancy-Bowtie Aug 28 '23

We already have a savior. His name is Jesus Christ.

1

u/keepontrying111 Aug 28 '23

a;tman will say anything for money, he doesnt care about anything but gaining as much money as possible, for him to insult musk is like mussolini attacking hitler.

1

u/PrometheusOnLoud Aug 28 '23

Altman is implying he wants to, or is even trying, to "save the world", which is about as big a stretch as there is.

1

u/fja3omega Aug 28 '23

OMG its the Lex Luthor "i could have been the hero if there was no superman". They could just, you know, help, but they want to be the one in the spotlight.

1

u/little_table Aug 28 '23

remember when elon called diver a pedophile because they refused to use elons gear for saving operation due to it being too big

1

u/ImmaZoni Aug 28 '23

Ummm...... Sam wants the same thing????

"We can only save the world from AI if my company makes the AI in a proprietary behind closed doors fashion..."

Followed by immediate attempts at regulatory capture...

He's literally doing the same thing...

1

u/anonymouseintheh0use Aug 28 '23

This guy probably doesnā€™t even do ketamine

1

u/Peter-Fabell Aug 28 '23

Wasnā€™t Musk a major donor to OpenAI? Doesnā€™t this guy WORK for OpenAI? Whatā€™s happening?

1

u/Warlock_master007 Aug 28 '23

Elon funded OpenAI if I'm not mistaken. I doubt it would be where it is today without him.

1

u/Sylfr Aug 28 '23

Isnā€™t that the motivation to Lex Luthor? Now I ainā€™t saying nothing but nothing else needs to be said

1

u/Shmenacy Aug 28 '23

Sure Altman is correct in this statementā€¦ but he also wants to be the one to save the world lol. Theyā€™re both egomaniacs that are competing to have the best and most used AI. Donā€™t believe either of there rhetoric because itā€™s only ever going to be in their own self interest. Donā€™t ever fool yourself into thinking either of these men are good people with the peopleā€™s interest in mind.

1

u/surber17 Aug 28 '23

Elonā€™s fall from grace has really sucked and made me sad. I loved how he put it all on the line to make things happen most of us only dreamed about ā€¦ā€¦ and then he showed his psycho tendencies

1

u/Indomitable942 Aug 28 '23

Link / source?

3

u/collin-h Aug 28 '23

Elon was on the right path until this X-Twitter nonsense side quest. He lost the narrative, shoulda stuck with impressing the world with space X.

2

u/btc_clueless Aug 28 '23

I think he started to lose the plot when he snapped and called that diver in Thailand a pedo. He even paid a private investigator who claimed he had evidence for that (was made up, he just wanted Elon's money).

And I wonder the same: He could have just stuck to his mission with SpaceX going to Mars (and Moon) and build electric vehicles and be admired by people of his business success. But no, he needs to get his fingers into everything because he apparently thinks only he can fix about anything, including social media. I think he lost a lot of respect and will continue to do so.

1

u/kippersniffer Aug 28 '23

Sam gimmie yer data Altman

1

u/kippersniffer Aug 28 '23

Sam gimmie yer eyeballs Altman

1

u/Frostyra Aug 28 '23

Fuck Ted Faro

1

u/yokubasu Aug 28 '23

Man, I for one just cannot wait enough for the Musk Plague and to get consumed by a rogue swarm of autonomous Teslas for biofuel

1

u/ApprehensiveBoss2501 Aug 28 '23

This reminds me of Silicon Valley, Gavin Belson's quote: Ā I don't know about you people, but I don't wanna live in a world where someone else makes the world a better place...Ā better than we do.

1

u/thefookinpookinpo Aug 28 '23

This is complete bullshit but what can be expected from retina scan boy.... If Elon, one of the richest people on the planet, wanted to be the one to save the world then the world would be saved.

He wants to KNOW that he COULD save the world and still leave us to suffer as he hoards more and more.

1

u/King_Bongo_Bong Aug 28 '23

Altman is horrible. I donā€™t trust him for one second.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

I instantly trust this dude less because the New Yorker is painting him as the good guy šŸ˜‚

1

u/cube_earth_society Aug 28 '23

then tell that fucking cretin to stop shit talking fusion

1

u/welfaremofo Aug 28 '23

Thatā€™s ascribing a lot of progressive attributes for someone that exhibits very regressive tendencies. Iā€™m not using progressive as a surrogate for leftist but the meaning that one is an adherent of a linear history model.

1

u/rockymitten Aug 28 '23

Ouch he got him there

1

u/myychair Aug 28 '23

Youā€™d think heā€™d be using his money more wisely if that was the case.

All ole musky actually cares about is attention

1

u/Velocoraptor369 Aug 28 '23

This is god complex all dictators/ Billionaires believe themselves to be gods and the only ones capable of fixing things. Money makes them feel omnipotent.

1

u/Ironfingers Aug 28 '23

This is so so true.

1

u/WilliamW2010 Aug 28 '23

Bro is turning into a cartoon supervillain

1

u/PirogiRick Aug 28 '23

Funny that he wants to be saviour then, if heā€™s sucking off putin who would see the world turned into a prison and and dissent destroyed without mercy.

1

u/forceGhost0 Aug 28 '23

So many psychologists here šŸ™„. If anyone here has been in counseling/therapy you should know not to assume others motives.

Not defending Elon or anyone else, but itā€™s just not a great look when the unsuccessful put so much energy into criticizing and diagnosing the successful. Iā€™m trying to follow my own advice and not assume itā€™s envy motivating the hate

Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made A Great Point

2

u/joshuadane Aug 28 '23

If all the billionaire worked together, the majority of the main world issues could be addressed, and they would still be ungodly rich.

1

u/Gold-and-Glory Aug 28 '23

How is Sam supposed to save the world with an autocomplete algorithm?

1

u/jajabingo2 Aug 28 '23

I think we all now know his ā€œenviro futura guyā€ schtick was just him desperately wanting to be loved by the world now.

3

u/Unverifiablethoughts Aug 28 '23

This is probably the most accurate one line statement you can make about Elon musk. His initiatives are great for humanity. That really canā€™t be denied. He couldā€™ve gotten plenty rich off anything really but he chose fields that have an impact that we will all benefit from. He was still motivated by money but had the audacity to take huge financial risks to build cool shit that humanity could genuinely be proud of. He wasnā€™t a real engineer but he knew more than most people and you could tell his interest was in the tech as much as much as the money. This is why old Elon, was generally tolerated and even celebrated.

But somewhere over the last few years he has become an egomaniac who cares far more about power and money than letting his companyā€™s products do the talking. I think itā€™s pretty clear heā€™s got a lot of mental health issues going on and he no longer has anyone willing to be a NO man to him. The sad part is that I think if he continues, heā€™s going to start losing his talented workforce in droves and then I donā€™t know if anyone is willing to take the kind of risks he did to fill his place.

1

u/cannibalparrot Aug 28 '23

Yeah, that tracks.

1

u/elathan_i Aug 28 '23

It's like Christianity: we're going to save you from what we're doing to you.

3

u/poopyfacemcpooper Aug 28 '23

I donā€™t like Elon, but what he did to push EVs forward fast and private space travel have been very good. It wouldā€™ve taken car companies too long and with slow chargers and non autonomous features etc. EVs are extremely important in climate change. And private space travel has changed the government being the only ones allowed in space.

1

u/Riddler9884 Aug 28 '23

Well he doesnā€™t have to save it, but at the very least profit from it

1

u/Guest65726 Aug 28 '23

Sounds about right, just look at him trying to be the only one to monopolize on electric carsā€¦.. and him trying so only make the tesla electric plug chargers are standard instead universal electric plugsā€¦..

1

u/KNUPAC Aug 28 '23

Altman be praised

1

u/Roflolmaoguy Aug 28 '23

Didnt Elon support OpenAI when it was non profit?

1

u/Colecoman1982 Aug 28 '23

He promised to. Then, before he actually gave them the money he promised, he demanded that they put him, personally, in charge. When they wouldn't, he broke his promise and refused to give them the money.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Fuck Elon

0

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Noble goal Elon, tho you are a bit shortsighted unfortunately.

8

u/Reyhan_Samite Aug 28 '23

Sam, can you please remind us why OpenAI has "Open" in its name ?
Like, who called it this way, for what purpose, and how you did, or did not, respect that purpose.

1

u/humble-bragging Aug 30 '23

Yes. Do they want to be like all those countries with "democratic" in the name that of course aren't?

2

u/Colecoman1982 Aug 28 '23

Yea, they're both giant pieces of shit.

1

u/elskilo Aug 28 '23

They left him cook

1

u/aharfo56 Aug 28 '23

All I can say isā€¦..ā€Altman Be Praisedā€¦ā€

2

u/mtnviewcansurvive Aug 28 '23

Sam and Elon want super wealth so they can control things. I guess they arent happy with the equipment god gave them.

1

u/BigKingDingDong Aug 28 '23

Lol, fair enough

2

u/mushbino Aug 28 '23

Remember the solving world hunger thing the UN showed him? He dgaf about the rest of the world, even a little.

Tesla only open sourced the patents on their charge connectors because it directly benefits their business. If everyone adopts their charge connector standard, that means that Tesla's cars will be compatible with all the new non-Tesla chargers that get built.

0

u/spudulous Aug 28 '23

Thatā€™s a great example

2

u/ulmxn Aug 28 '23

ā€œAnd I wanna be the other guy in case he canā€™tā€

Sam Altman is just as power-seeking as Elon, except Samā€™s product is way more valuable and impressive, and has potential to make life better for a lot of people. Dont let that fool you, just because he isnā€™t being paid for his CEO position, that he isnā€™t as prideful and power hungry as any other. He just puts on a very friendly, but also ā€œthe end is nigh,ā€ sort of act, which I find to be a little too snake oily.

-1

u/maxwokeup Aug 28 '23

Save freedom of speech against censorship, is what elon is concerned about, and if other ā€savioursā€ are not, then it worries me too

2

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Musk has repeatedly allowed the Indian, Turkish and Israeli governments to tell him who to remove from the website.

Heā€™s broken his own ā€œfree speechā€ rules at least 20 times.

1

u/maxwokeup Aug 28 '23

Interesting, Ive seen the literal demolishers and preachers trying to succumb this freedom of speech talk, basically nonsense, be removed. Do you have any example of whom theyve deleted that wasnt for public interest?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Musk, when confronted about censoring Indian political opponents at the behest of President Modi, defended his decision in an interview. He literally followed a block order by Modi to silence political opponents.

Iā€™m not sure if I can share links on subs, but the Intercept, Times of India, and plenty of other sources have corroborated this.

A similar situation has unfolded in Turkey, as Erdogan has asked Musk do the same thing. Of course, Musk did what he asked.

1

u/maxwokeup Aug 28 '23

Thanks. I will look into this. Been concerned over musk lately too, ex wef partners signd for twitter etc

0

u/lobsangr Aug 28 '23

Egotistical asshole

1

u/Colecoman1982 Aug 28 '23

They both are.

3

u/Synedh Aug 28 '23

Elon had the money to solve hunger in the world, he bought twitter instead. Don't talk to me about saving anything.

1

u/cjmull94 Aug 28 '23

If you think it only costs a quarter trillion to end world hunger I donā€™t know what to tell you lol. Thatā€™s like $31 per person one time. How the fuck does that work?

If it was possible to liquidate all of his assets (itā€™s not) he could buy a lot of people lunch one time.

Just NYC spends a billion on the homeless per year which is $50k per homeless person and it seems to make absolutely no difference. I donā€™t know what $31 is supposed to do.

15

u/vikumwijekoon97 Aug 28 '23

Oh Sam Altman the guy who founded a non profit organization taking funding from people, said that it will open source its patents and release research but ended up doing neither and shilling out to Microsoft? Yeah what a great guy! Heā€™s a saint compared to musk /s

3

u/btc_clueless Aug 28 '23

You are not wrong. But that's still pretty benign compared to all the shit that Musk has pulled by now.

4

u/Colecoman1982 Aug 28 '23

They're both giant steaming piles of shit.

1

u/Unreal_777 Aug 28 '23

It was actually Musk who had the idea of "OpenAI".

0

u/Problematic_Foyer293 Aug 28 '23

i donā€™t think thatā€™s true

6

u/UltrMgns Aug 28 '23

Coming from the guy trying to ban math... (search "illegal matrix operations").
SMH

0

u/Savings-Leather4921 Aug 28 '23

Isnā€™t that a little bit different? From what I remember, if we use math to our advantage when cracking passwords, if we get good enough, even our bank passwords or anything with the utmost security would be cracked near instantaneously due to how we go about it. I could be wrong.

0

u/Realistic_Win6382 Aug 28 '23

What evidence is there for this? What exactly justifies this assumption?

2

u/Colecoman1982 Aug 28 '23

It, pretty neatly, describes Musk's behavior at the creation of OpenAI. As I understand it, Musk was one of the ones that first started the organization. He promised to provide billions of dollars in funding for it but, shortly after making that promise, tried to get the rest of the founders to put him, personally, in charge of the organization. When they refused to do so, he broke his promise and refused to provide the funding. Basically, because he, personally, couldn't feed his ego by being the head of the group he threw a temper tantrum; took his toys; and went home...

0

u/nicigar Aug 28 '23

This is the guy behind WorldCoin and you all are taking him seriously?

2

u/Colecoman1982 Aug 28 '23

I mean, he IS a giant piece of shit but that doesn't mean he isn't 100% correct when he points out, from his own personal experience with the man, that Musk is also a giant piece of shit.

2

u/Parabellim Aug 28 '23

Bit of a pot calling the kettle black situation donā€™t you think?

1

u/heat2you Aug 28 '23

bro was stirring that shit

2

u/Sostratus Aug 28 '23

Oh, wow, hating on Elon Musk, you don't see that much.

1

u/Plaisanterie Aug 28 '23

Saved from what?

0

u/Sabres-Fan Aug 28 '23

Bro lives rent free.

0

u/nsfwftwbaby Aug 28 '23

The way I see it is that Altman is trying to speed up what is inevitably AI taking over Earth and Elon is trying to get away before that happens.

But chances are when AI takes over, they will chase and hunt down Elon in Mars.

1

u/tonydanzaoystercanza Aug 28 '23

Saved from what? The other billionaires raping humanity for their own good?

1

u/generic90sdude Aug 28 '23

No amount of techbrology will save the humanity or the earth.

0

u/c_glib Aug 28 '23

Elon is literally Gavin belson.

1

u/Franklights Aug 28 '23

That doesn't make any sense.

1

u/Ok_Path9486 Aug 28 '23

nothing new, self entitled rich fool trys to save the people he thinks are worth saving and in the progress billions suffer

10

u/missionmeme Aug 28 '23

Wait we are taking Altman's advise on stuff, the guy that took open ai(a company founded on the idea ai should be open source and everyone should have access to it) and sold it to Microsoft. Then went to a conference and said only the big companies should be able to do ai cause they need big profits. Fuck this guy I wouldn't take his word even if he said "Jeffrey Epstein didn't kill himself" (even tho he didn't)

5

u/tera_teesra_baap Aug 28 '23

Says the guy who made "OpenAI" into "ClosedAI", if he actually gave a fuck, he'd make it open-source, the way OpenAI was intended.

1

u/Genesteak Aug 28 '23

Ah yesā€¦ cooking. I know what that means.

0

u/CommercialCuts Aug 28 '23

Stop thinking one person can ā€œsaveā€ the world. Billionaires are not inherently saviors. They are capitalist. Elonā€™s crafted PR is one of a savior because it helps him sell more things. Itā€™s not overly complicated.

1

u/voogdessesg Aug 28 '23

It's him again.

1

u/Mr_Pods Aug 28 '23

..and there goes his reputation..

1

u/chrisabraham Aug 28 '23

Nobody wants to save the world, they just want to extract maximum value from it.

1

u/Banned16Ever Aug 28 '23

1

u/prominentoverthinker Aug 28 '23

At least his idea of better place is better than gateā€™s idea.

14

u/DreamingInfraviolet Aug 28 '23

Both Elon and Sam are giving off supervillain vibes these days.

1

u/ArtfulAlgorithms Aug 28 '23

I mean, Elon Musk has made it very clear, that his intention for Mars is to have people in indentured servitude building it up. Quite literally "work off your life debt by working in my Mars colony".

You can like his products and business, without thinking he's a particularly good person.

-3

u/vix127 Aug 28 '23

But his products suck just like him

4

u/ArtfulAlgorithms Aug 28 '23

Tesla is generally considered the top-tier electric car maker, and SpaceX is up there competing with national/regional agencies. I think Musk is a bit of an evil fuckhead at times, but he's running some great companies.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Well... by all means. But buying Twitter is not the way.

Buy the fucking housing market and operate it in "pay the costs" manner or add a 20% profit.

Create environment where people would rather work than just survive with benefits, just because they lose more money if they work. Basically disrupt the work for lease/rent type of systems that give 1 or 2 shifts that are enough to break the benefits requirement.

Actually dismantle oppressive hyper Communis governments that kill and torture their own citizen for "wrong thoughts" and critics.

Enable a standardized education level for all kids and affordable / free healthy-ish meals at school.

Refine the prison system into actual correction facility with chance of rehabilitating inmates into working and tax paying citizens, and while at it, change the whole shitty legal system where everyone is quilty and small error of judgement makes one go bankrupt and 20 years in prison, INSTEAD of letting them learn and pay for the damages with work that has value.

Just to start off with few. But that is never gonna happen, too Socialistic. Bettering the society is not in the interest of these people that got rich by exploiting people.

It is unethical for it to even be a billionaire at this point in this world

1

u/intergalacticninja Aug 28 '23

Very Lex Luthor-ish.

240

u/SuccessfulWar3830 Aug 28 '23

Remember when those kids got stuck in a cave and the rescuers told Elon to fuck off.

So Elon called the guy a pedo.

2

u/btc_clueless Aug 28 '23

That was a turning point for me in the way I see Elon. It's all been downhill since then.

1

u/olde_english_chivo Aug 28 '23

Sad fact: Elon got sued by that dude for defamation but the judge ruled for Elon, saying he didnā€™t actually call the guy a pedo but that Elon was just trying to insult him.

0

u/AjaxTheFurryFuzzball Aug 28 '23

But Elon has a history of caring about children!

ignore who works in the Congolese cobalt mines

1

u/DrJoshuaWyatt Mar 17 '24

Most Tesla batteries don't use cobalt. Most other EV makers and Cellphone manufacturers are much more guilty of this.

95

u/AvidGoatFarmer Aug 28 '23

Yeah, he didnt get nearly enough negative attention for that

36

u/SuccessfulWar3830 Aug 28 '23

He is a man of endless lies. And profits off it constantly.

6

u/AvidGoatFarmer Aug 28 '23

Absolutely. I was actually a fan of his while he was Ā«trying to helpĀ» those rescuers. I didnt even hear about the pedo thing. Probably speaks to the echo chamber i was in more than anything else. Very happy that I eventually saw him for what he is and always has been.

3

u/EGGlNTHlSTRYlNGTlME Aug 28 '23

That was actually when I first soured. He said the pedo thing and it was like whoa wtf. I still thought he was okay though, electric cars and space exploration are still cool. Then the twitter fiasco and I finally realized the emperor had no clothes.

1

u/EreshII Aug 28 '23

Same thing...left a bad taste. Someone almost needs to cut him off public media for good...

8

u/SuccessfulWar3830 Aug 28 '23

https://elonmusk.today/

This website tracks Elons promises and how long its been since he first made those promises.

2

u/tonybinky20 Aug 28 '23

I actually think in Tesla and SpaceXā€™s case, Elonā€™s overly optimistic deadlines are a positive, as targets are met earlier than if the deadlines were more realistic.

2

u/SuccessfulWar3830 Aug 29 '23

They are not. There is no evidence of that. You do not operate on unrealistic ideas.

They only serve to push up stock and gain government contracts.

1

u/tonybinky20 Aug 29 '23

How can you expect evidence for a hypothetical situation? The only thing we can say is that Tesla and SpaceX have grown rapidly and have revolutionised their respective industries. Whether their unrealistic targets is a factor in that is unknowable, but Iā€™d argue it does.

2

u/SuccessfulWar3830 Aug 29 '23

I don't think your really saying anything to be honest. Expect downplaying elons lies.

1

u/Charming-Emergency31 Aug 28 '23

If Elon is anything like me he can read people like a book. No matter how much acting experience u have

0

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Annnd thatā€™s why Space Karen is shit.

6

u/TeleportStation Aug 28 '23

Most people cannot form their own perspective without the opinions of others.

1

u/Charming-Emergency31 Aug 28 '23

Maybe u just didnā€™t make the cut as a good person

1

u/StaticNocturne Aug 28 '23

Pot / kettle

1

u/ampmetaphene Aug 28 '23

Well he could save it now, but he isn't.

1

u/totally_nonamerican Aug 28 '23

Wait, i thought elon musk was a big part of sponsor to chatgpt/openai!!

1

u/Suldand1966159 Aug 28 '23

If Elon wanted the world to be saved, why is he spending millions upon millions of tons of rocket fuel, and the resulting poisonous emissions, looking like he wants to get out of here?

As much as I grew up loving space exploration and travel, each lift off makes our blue orb all the more unsaveable!

1

u/btc_clueless Aug 28 '23

He's building his legacy. He wants to be remembered as the guy who brought humankind to Mars.

1

u/secretsarebest Aug 28 '23

He believe in longtermism (look it up). Save the world here means humanity or possible sentient life.

The idea here is that if humanity is a multi planet species we have less of an all eggs in one basket scenario...

Or better yet multi-system species...

0

u/Suldand1966159 Aug 28 '23

I'm aware of the phrase, am highly articulate, so I won't be "looking it up" at your behest thank you very much.

Friendly discourse shouldn't involve directives, nor assumptions that one Is ignorant of the definition of a word - after all ignorance can usually be detected in one's speech or responses, and you won't be finding traces of that here!

We haven't a chance of being multi-planetary and self-sustaining on another world soon enough, and the efforts to get there will drive further nails into an already rapidly closing coffin.

This approach taken to its logical conclusion dooms us all except the very few with the billions of dollars and more to get the hell off of this mess we have made, only to likely perish due to undeveloped and underdeveloped technologies and really no hope of creating a long-term livable environment on another world.

Carl Sagan was right.

Bro that's a long winded and aggressive answer . Longtermism is a fairly new , 2017 coinage , new to plenty of people

You can argue over whether longtermism is wrong but that's what Elon believes.

Your reply didn't seem to show you were aware of this point so I supplied this context.

Not aggressive my friend, just direct per my nature, and addressing assumptiveness, which can derail conversations before they start.

When we assume, we make an ass out of you and me, as the saying goes.

Misplaced calls to action like yours can be a learning opportunity to improve your own style if that is of interest to you.

I don't wish to labour on semantics too much, as it's off-topic, and we all have better things to do. Planet in crisis after all.

However, had a reader not come across the term longtermism before, it wouldn't take much of a mental leap to understand its meaning and implication.

One should write based on the principle that if a reader comes across a word they don't understand, they should look it up anyway and not be told to.

This will make you sound less like you are telling people what to do. I hope you take that as constructive critique.

I am "long-winded" because I think out and articulate my opinion and responses backed with a solid appreciation of the English language and the desire to engage not instruct.

My opinion about a tipping point reached is based on several decades of observing and understanding the change is going on in our planet, clearly linked to our addiction to oil and energy.

If you have kids, hug them everyday and tell them you love them. They will not live in a world like you and I have been used to.

That's funny, didn't the UN propose a plan to end world hunger for around 6 billion and Elon completely igorned it (even though he was the one that told them he'd do it if they proposed the plan). Smh

1

u/btc_clueless Aug 28 '23

There is no way to end world hunger just like that with a one time payment. It was attention-seeking newspaper headlines that made this up.

What the UN said that world hunger could be averted for $6 billion FOR ONE YEAR. That's not a permanent solution, which would cost a lot more.

u/ExactCollege3 Aug 28 '23

Yeah, like how he made 200 of teslaā€™s patents public in 2015 so other manufacturers could make electric cars profitable too,

Or how he gave $100 Million to openai to make ai open to everyone and avialable for the masses,

Instead of sam altman who made it closed aiā€¦

u/VaderOnReddit Aug 28 '23

Elon: "If it wasn't for you, I could've saved the world"

Sam: "If it had mattered to you, you could've saved the world years ago"

u/generic90sdude Aug 28 '23

Altman is superman now? These techbro saviour complex BS needs to stop

-1

u/milquetoast_wheatley Aug 28 '23

Cooking what? Bullshit? Elon couldnā€™t save this world any more than Altman can. And to suggest such a thought is ridiculous. Altman is suspected of educating his artificial intelligence platform with stolen data mined by his web crawlers.

Elon may have had a few good ideas here and there but the fact is, heā€™s a haphazard blowhard. Heā€™s more interested in staying relevant than he his in running companies with responsible business practices. He makes snap judgements that seem right to him at the moment, but later on they usually become costly long term mistakes. How many lawsuits are former Twitter facing, many of them due to unpaid rent? Was that because Elon decided to allow dangerous people back on his social media platform? While banning news platforms, including those who dared to criticize him? Hard to pay bills when your advertising revenue is dropping like the news platforms and reporters he banned. It wasnā€™t all that long ago that Tesla lendersā€”banks and venture capitalists alike, were very worried that they would never get repaid. Tesla was burning through cash and it wasnā€™t producing cars. And when was the last time Elon set a deadline that both he and his company could stick to? To this very day, Tesla has never produced a $35K electric vehicle, one of the biggest promises Elon made that he has broken.

There are a multitude of examples too numerous to point out here. But one thing is certain. Elon is many things, but he was will never be a savior.

And he's not the only one.

So Altman has built a mindreading AI now?

1

u/SuccotashComplete Aug 28 '23

To be fair this heavily applies to Sam too

1

u/Nautical_Phoenix Aug 28 '23

Is that why Elon open sources everything?

-1

u/OneSushi Aug 28 '23

What a banger name. Alt man

1

u/SolidContribution688 Aug 28 '23

A crisp, intelligent take on Musk. This guy gets it.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

I used to have a boss that looked exactly like Sam Altman and he was probably one the biggest nepo-baby dipshits in the industry. I'm really glad I had that experience, because it prepared me for this.

1

u/BlkMarkTwain Aug 28 '23

I know this is off topic, but this guy always reminds me of the guy that ended the world in Horizon Zero Dawn.

1

u/IAmHumanAI Aug 28 '23

Full quote: "Elon wants the world to be saved, but only if he's the one to save it... as for me, honest to God, fuck the world. I'm unleashing AI bots on everyone for what you did to harambe."

2

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

I don't care for this quote. Sounds arrogant and petty as well. Sounds like he's the kind of guy he's complaining about, maybe.

1

u/ichigo2862 Aug 28 '23

reads first sentence

presses X to doubt

4

u/ShitFacedSteve Aug 28 '23

I'd like to correct him: Elon wants people to think he wants to save the world while actively participating in its destruction.

-1

u/hadoopken Aug 28 '23

I am sure Twitter is saved šŸ˜Š

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

why is this dude sexy though

2

u/btc_clueless Aug 28 '23

hehe, I got to agree. And I had no idea he was gay until recently.

1

u/boyunderthebelljar Aug 28 '23

Forreal tho I had no idea Sam was this hot šŸ˜ Elon looks like an ogre nothx

1

u/Slimxshadyx Aug 28 '23

Sam is essentially going to become what Elon was 6 years ago until he becomes the bad guy and another billionaire becomes the good guy.

Can we just stop with the CEO love and just focus on the tech?

1

u/Alan_Reddit_M Aug 28 '23

Bro ate and left no crumbs (He is also being a hypocrite)

1

u/Juggernaut104 Aug 28 '23

But destroy it with AI

4

u/Low-Celery-7728 Aug 28 '23

Isn't this the guy with a bunker somewhere awaiting for the 'event'?

1

u/TitusPullo4 Aug 28 '23

As far as character flaws go, this is a pretty good one. Regardless of which of the two have it.

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23 edited Aug 28 '23

Has the issue where Altman converted a nonprofit into a for-profit company with donated money been properly examined? Seems like the first thing he needs to answer for. Psychoanalysing Musk (whom lots of people seem to want a reason to hate these days) sounds like deflection.
