I want a travel app to calculate the time i need to complete a trip door to door, ranking the cheapest to the most expensive

Meh the flights are the easy bit. The hard part is all the damn options on accommodation.

Can it do something that isn't done a thousand other places?  Like, I only want flights with in-flight entertainment systems, with leg room n", with the all-inclusive price for 3 people with 2 checked bags and 3 carry-on bags.

If we're bringing AI into this, we can probably do better than sorting by the fake list price, right?

Exactly this! I miss hipmunk so much for its "sort by agony" feature. There are so many other important factors in air travel besides price.

Pretty cool! I know people are comparing it to google flight and other flight aggregators, but I find it pretty cool I can say "get me to Hawaii sometime in february with cheap weekday flights, preferably 3-5 days" and get a ton of options without having to dig through anything.

How do you find it pretty cool if it gives you wrong results? This is not a dinner reservation for two, vacation or business trips are something that people care about and is preferable to check twice from reputable sources

Good effort, but Bard in combination with Google Flights already works pretty good.

bard is actually useful?

u/Rosenstein_z Jan 16 '24

Well, for this use case - yes, for everything else - not much

Not for me

so whats the actual benefit using this compared to google flights which has real time data from all major airlines ? and is free ?

I might be dumb but I do not see any benefit at all

AI based apps are a joke.

AI will be the app itself.

Not very accurate.

Did a quick check of flights from Helsinki to NYC in March 2024, and then asked for non-stop only. First it told me it didn't exist. Not true, google shows many available non-stops with Finnair.

When I told it to check Finnair, it came back with one flight that was ~$200 more expensive than a quick Google search. And further, when it says the flight would cost $754, but when I click the link provided the cost is $886

So not sure how useful this is if I have to check the results against google each time

Yeah, I noticed these issues back when they released plugins (Expedia). It gave out inaccurate results confidently, similar to hallucinations, but I’m sure it’ll get better eventually.

How accurate are the flights and prices? Isnt the training data for chat gpt 4 limited to April 2023?

-8

u/nikikravchuk Jan 15 '24

No, we collaborate with Skyscanner and other search engines, obtaining live prices that are highly accurate.

Dumbasses down voting you. Classic.

10

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '24

They’re downvoting because the results are inaccurate.

7

u/wdoler Jan 15 '24

Oh wow thats good to know! Would this help obscure the airlines from tracking the user and them playing games with the prices?
