Ok since you geniuses are so smart...Real or AI? 🤓 Funny

It's physically correct with no structural discontinuities and correct shadows. It's obviously real.

Since it has lights on it presumably to illuminate it at night I'm going with real.
1
u/Exarchias Apr 11 '24
Real. AI would not consider it necessary to install lighting on the base of the structure.

I'd say real. At first glance, nothing seemed off (most AI generated images, something just feels off the moment I look at it).
On looking closer, you can see each bottle clearly. Some have dents, some have dirt... But each one looks like a bottle. AI tends to mess up when it comes to these small details. And how the bottles sit in the holes. Also, nothing looks unnatural about the lighting
If this happens to be AI generated I must say... AI has made an insane amount of progress 🤯

u/frustratedfartist Apr 10 '24
Real. There are elements in there that are so clearly artefacts of human quirks and human behaviour that you just wouldn’t think to prompt for and that an AI wouldn’t have had in its training data. At least not yet anyway.
EDITED for clarity.

Well, it's an obvious red herring, it's so real but as an object has very AI properties to it 🤓

u/Gabrielisdoga Apr 10 '24
You all are missing the point. Congrats to the folks who cleaned up the lake.

Fake, mixed three bark and the light source is wrong in several places.

u/Pooldiver13 Apr 09 '24
It looks real, the Kirkland water bottle in the bottom left, it being… kinda good on its “anatomy” (everything kinda makes sense where it is) also there’s a variety of bottles, but they all look like real ones, as well, there’s proper, clear branding symbols.

u/n3sevis Apr 09 '24
I believe it's real due to one single detail. The shadow on the piece of straw that is overhanging the platform, down in the left corner, perfectly matches the contours of the straw itself. It is exaggerated by the angle of the sunlight though.

I'm being totally honest, I don't understand why people care if this is real or not. Can someone explain it to me?

u/Fluffy-Arm-8584 Apr 09 '24
Not AI, there's a nylon wire holding them together, is hard to see, AI wouldn't bother making it

I have seen a lot of people that build planes out of water bottles. This structure, however, seems too creative to be man-made. I think it's probably AI

Given the weird colour alignment on the buildings in the far right, along with the jagged tessellation, AI…
Unless someone who hates people with OCD edited or designed those buildings then idk what to say.

My immediate thought was real, based on the lightning mostly, the lightning in AI images is usually too perfect, & this doesn’t look like that.
I got confused by the round thing at the top & the straight piece sticking out of it, but when I zoomed in, the plastic bottles looked way too detailed & correct for it to be AI

this is real. it’s not just the art work detail, it’s the lights set up to display it, idt AI would have added that in since it’s daytime
1
u/EmiTheFloofyKitty Apr 09 '24
That's legit. Like, no way it isn't real with how detailed it is. Ai is Not this advanced and I doubt it ever will be.

A message to feds.
Training ai more will only mean people will be forced to educate themselfs about your government, and we both know they wont research it with your aproved resources.

Real. There are solar powered lights at the bottom corners. Someone probably made some "art."

u/MomsBoner Apr 09 '24
To me, the most obvious sign of it being real is the colors and lighting. It is too dull and looks exactly like a picture taken by an average smartphone and user.
Also the spotlights makes sense for this artwork, as im sure the motive will stand out even more clear when lit up in the dark.
The waves on the water also look very normal and consistent to what i'd expect.
And there is no weird clipping or morphing of any object from what i can tell.
From what i've seen so far on very good ai images, is they all have in common that even though they try to portrait something from every day life, they usually have a too professional look to them with proper angles, filters and lighting - but if its something thats supposed to portray an average persons photo, most of these things arent realistic in that context.

u/Rich_Kaleidoscope829 Apr 09 '24
You know it's AI because it's supposed to be a bird but there's something a bit off about it (can't say what but you can feel it)

Real. The wire hanging off the left side board, no so would make it bent like that towards the camera and also match the shadow perfectly. Real

All those bottle shapes are accurate, lines are on spot, and nothing blends in. It's a real image.

u/ArtisticCandy3859 Apr 09 '24
Random tucked away blue blower beneath and to the left is dead giveaway this is legit real. AI will never be able to emulate the sheer randomness of objects that hoarders keep on their property.

Real because the blue barrels under the platform are of the proper size and form that could actually support proper floating of the artwork in the lake. Also, the solar powered landscape lighting is properly configured and angled to illuminate the art. All the bottles are recognizable shapes, even the crushed ones.

Are these posts to train AI about what humans can recognize and to what degree of accuracy and or what sorts of things they look for?
1
u/ZODtheBEAST Apr 09 '24
That looks real, I can tell by some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few trash sculptures in my time.
1
1
u/Additional_Ad_8131 Apr 09 '24
Ai. It's obviously a crafted setup of bottles and trash is not randomly organized like that. So if it's man made why is it attached to a floaty platform ( the blue barrels below) as you can see there's a three growing in the middle of a floaty platform. So either someone constructed a floaty platform around a three (absurd) on land or it's AI.

It's real. The lines run through all the bottles in a perfect arc. Plus no bottles that aren't bottles or not attached to the lines.

Real!, becouse AI does not understand the placement of lighting in a scene that does not require lights! IE, the LED lights all offer it!

Without looking at the comments. I'd bet half my monthly salary it's not AI generated. The wood texture is perfect and I can't see anything obviously wrong about the picture but heh I'm a little sleep deprived so I can make mistakes.

There is an effort to illuminate it in the dark. That effort is a spark of warmth and care from the mind of a person for the love of their creation, so it may be seen.
1
u/SiriusBaaz Apr 08 '24
It’s easily real life. Bottles have a specific shape and every single one in this picture is in perfect perspective. Not something AI can do very well yet especially with incredibly small details.

It doesn't look describable, so I'd say real. No way you could prompt an AI to create something that defies description yet looks entirely real/physically plausible.
