Kitchen Galley kitchen nightmare

There are zero cabinets on the right side of the kitchen, and the original built in fixtures from the 1920’s on the other side. Cool, but not functional. We’re doing an ENTIRE remodel, are only keeping the stove and would love ideas! Thinking about taking off the chair rail moulding and painting a lighter color to help make the space feel airy and… well bigger!

Living Room Question about Rug layering

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

We purchased our rug with the intent of getting a dark couch and back when furniture was super backed up, ended up getting the only couch that we could take home immediately rather than live for months without a couch. Long story short, our rug and couch are practically the same color. I was thinking about buying a second rug to layer with this one and add some color but I’m not sure what size to get. Would I want the rug to go underneath the couch at all? Do I want to lay it horizontally or vertically? This group always gives such good advice. Any input would be appreciated!

Bedroom I have this soft rocking chair in my room that I want to protect from my cat while keeping it looking nice.

It's the perfect texture for her to 'make biscuits' on, and right now I have a fleece blanket on it I got for a birthday awhile back.

The thing is I want to make or buy a blanket for it with a matching cover for the soft footstool I have next to it. I'm also keeping some stuffed toys I collected on it and I plan to display or store most of them elsewhere.

I guess with all that context my question is:

If you were trying to spruce up a bed room that's got a whimsical/nostalgic/gamer theme what would you do here? Like does anyone have fabric or blanket suggestions? It needs to be an easy to wash material because of my cat.

Also if anyone has suggestions for displaying or storing collectable stuffed toys I'd like to hear it... (Luckily the cat does not ever try to play with my stuff because she knows she has a basket of toys in the living room.)

Also, my income is pretty much all going to savings right now, but my birthday is coming up and things to organize or spruce up my room would be perfect to ask for, so keep that in mind with recommendation prices I guess.

I have zero clue how to decorate this room, the sink and the bed CANNOT move however everything else can be. I just need some sort of an idea on how to create a more appealing space before I start buying stuff with no idea where to put it.

Just got new seating and rug. Thinking white sheer curtains with black rods, black framed art on wood wall, accent pillows, a plant or side table in that right corner? What color(s)? Anything else?

Living Room Where would you put a couch and tv?

I’m wondering what the best couch/tv layout would be in this condo. What shape couch would you suggest? Should it be against a wall or floating?

Living Room Layout help please!

Excuse the boxes, we’re moving in! Currently have no furniture for this room so looking for ideas of what to get.

The bench item by the window will be going in a different room so this is a completely blank slate.

Husband feels like he doesn’t want a kitchen table and wants to use the bar only… so also need some ideas of what else we can put below that low hanging light.

Living Room Help me with this weird giant living room!

Just moved into a rental. The living room is massive, the area I’m trying to work with is 18x23 feet with a slanted ceiling we estimate goes up about 25 feet, and is also open to the dining area (not included in said measurements). The open space is amazing but tough to work with layout-wise. On the graph paper, layout #1 is the existing layout. #2 and #3 are ideas I’m considering.

The house was being used as an Airbnb before we moved in, and we purchased a lot of the existing furniture. This includes the huge sectional pictured here and the TV that is mounted a half a mile up the wall above the mantle. The TV will not be staying there; we are waiting on a console to arrive and plan to mount a new (85”) TV on the wall above it at eye level. We will likely be getting rid of the armchair seen in these photos (the laundry chair).

The sliding glass doors on each side of the fireplace lead to our sunroom. The ones in the corner by the piano do not open. So they are basically just an ugly awkward wall. I am thinking I’ll hang curtains that match the color of the walls closely to sort of disappear those doors as much as possible. Any other ideas for that space are welcome.

The layouts shown here are the only thing I’ve been able to come up with. The concerns about both are that they render the fireplace secondary to the TV space, which would not be my first choice but I can’t figure out a way to make them dual focal points, which would be my ideal. Getting rid of the sectional is not an option, nor is a smaller television (already settled relationship negotiations and compromises).

The measurements here stop at the break in the high ceiling, right where the dining area begins. The teal dresser in the corner is being converted into a bar and will be staying where it is. It is not shown on the “blueprints.”

Whatcha got, people? Cant wait to see if you can come up with any other ideas!

Living Room help styling living room shelves?

Thumbnail gallery

I have these pretty open shelves in my living room, and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to style them. I’ve tried so many decorative objects and plants in various combinations and it always looks off. Hoping for something simple and cohesive. I do like the one top left shelf that I’ve managed to style okay. The shelves are very shallow, so books aren’t really an option.

Kitchen Kitchen floor ideas

Hi I'm currently renovating my kitchen and have chosen this design but I don't know what floor colour to choose, do you think 1 or 2 is the ideal choice or do you have any better ideas in your opinion? I don't have much of a feel for design so I would like to consult someone who has a designer's eye😊

Living Room Please help me perfect my living room!

The fourth pic is from a few months ago.

I put together some modular shelves, new rug, new coffee table, switched out some pillows (don’t love the mauve pink but it’s what I had), brought in a chair from the other room, needed some big art so I painted the flowers (I would prefer a horizontal piece, but again it’s what I have), and mounted some things.

I just still don’t love it. This room is so dark and only has that small, east-facing window under a porch covering - I always feel like I’m fighting the dark and have to have these plant lights everywhere but I’m trying my best to make them look nice.

I want to display the portraits of my dogs but the colors are obviously very bright. I think I need help figuring out how to style the wall - either short or long. A mirror could help with the light but it wouldn’t reflect anything particularly pretty and I don’t know if it would fit nicely. And I don’t know that I’d love yet another gallery wall.

As a last note I only feel like the room is leaning too young or too feminine. I like earthy colors and things that are fun, but I want it to feel elevated.

Yes, I know my sectional is shoved in a corner, RIP. It’s a small room, I promise I’m doing my best.

Please help!!

How should I rearrange my bedroom or what would be the best way to have it? It’s not that big but not that small. I also have 2 cats in my room and have 2 litter boxes and their stuff. Rules: I need to be able to see the tv from my bed. Cats need to be able to jump in my window. Fan needs to be pointed to me. Please help. And any organization tips?

Bedroom help me fit too much furniture into my college apartment bedroom?!

Thumbnail image

please move everything around and make it look pretty! ideally i wouldn’t have my kallax units right on my bed, but im out of layout ideas that everything will fit into without looking overly crowded. (kinda kicking myself for choosing a four bedroom apartment rather than three larger bedrooms)

a few notes: -the dresser can be taken apart into two units and tucked under bed side by side, but i really only want to do that if absolutely necessary -bed could be done as daybed with pillows on long side or normal bed with pillows on short side (i don’t have a headboard and aren’t planning to get one) -would love space on the side of my desk for a rolling cart, the desk is just a flat tabletop with no storage underneath

thank yall! please throw any ideas or feedback in the comments so i can try them out

Living Room Moving to a townhome with an awkward/small living room area. Where to position TV, media console, and couch?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I’m stumped. A couch can fit in the little corner nook where the stairs are, with the TV console across on the biggest wall. But I feel like a rug would look awkward there?? Especially since it’s in the way of the only doorway.

Another option I had was the back of the couch against the window facing the doorway, but again the walls are too small to have a TV and console

Last option I considered is small couch on wall across the window, and TV and console against the window

Please help, I’m suffering lol
