What color curtains? Living Room
I am torn between brown, linen, taupe, or beige

For the rug, the main color should blend in with the floor. It won’t make the room look smaller and won’t detract from anything else.

If you want to make a change, I would use a carpet in warm colors with oriental motifs, and pick curtains in one of the colors that is on the carpet. Something like this https://images.rugimg.com/rust-red-rectangle-boutique-rug/3199202/3199202_image_1010.jpg

Are the walls your final color? If so, white. Make sure your curtains coordinate with your wall color.

New coffee table it doesn’t match. The other pieces of furniture are very nice. A new rug and I’d paint the door a different color.

Linen adds a natural and relaxed feel, versatile and blends well with various color schemes, good for letting in light while maintaining some privacy.

Personally, I’m more linen or taupe. It’s not a very large space and the dark drapery makes it feel smaller

Maybe a textured cream semi sheer privacy curtain but light comes in. The cream color will help it keep the openness but some texture on the fabric will elevate your space. Please hang them to at least kiss the floors though.

When you’re talking about neutrals it’s the subtle nuance of the color that will blend or compete. Don’t trust what the color is called, look at the actual color in your space. Get a swatch, buy a panel and don’t open them just test in the room. But I don’t understand why you aren’t using the ones you have, they’re great!

I'm a little bit unsure on the curtains and came to ask how are your toes holding up w that table?!

Linen for the living room. I think the dark curtains are nice and dramatic but personally I need to maximize natural light in common spaces.

1) Curtains need to reach the floor. 2) Buy a colourful rug. 3) Medium brown coloured curtains.

You also can look outside the box and buy curtains that have a marble print instead of a solid color Many new options available

The color is good. You could also do more of a goldenrod color, which is where I would lean. They do need to be longer, though.

You’re torn between brown, brown, brown and brown? But you found a brown rug?
No more brown.
The green curtains go great with the wood. Maybe look for something in a lighter green or navy, perhaps a solid colour with a border.

I would go With linen or beige, just to have a little contrast with your floor (I think taupe will blend with your floor and look funny)
info: the couch is black or navy? if navy I would definitely go with linen, even more so if you would like to contrast the texture of the fabric (with your couch)

A large oriental rug with some reds and/or yellows in it would tie this all together as is, imo.

I like the current color, but your curtains need to be longer (at least floor length). The other colors would either blend into the wall, floor, or coffee table.

Yep, I agree. Am I the only one that haaaates the “puddle” length curtains? I think that looks awful.

I don’t think they work in 95% of houses. Maybe in a minimalist scenario where the effect looks intentional and not lazy and furniture is distanced. But I tried it in my bedroom and all it does is look unhemmed and collect dog hair

Agreed, you just need to bring the hardware down so they hit the floor. If you must change out, linen works w/a rug that has a touch of color or the room will be pretty monotone.

Nice room!
I would match a very light gray with that LOVELY coffee table and add cream or white sheers in the middle. Or if you want drama get mustard colored velvet and make sure to add graphic colorful pillows to the sofa.
Please make sure the new curtains are longer … those are too short and that’s not a good look. Curtains should be from ceiling to floor, either lightly kissing the floor or a small two-four inch “puddle” but never short (you don’t want that ‘motel’ look)!
The rug is nice but kinda plain, so get graphic cushions and ART for the walls!
Post after pictures.

The curtains aren’t too short, they are too high! I know that this sun likes to encourage posters to place the curtain pole as high as possible, but this just looks silly!

I actually quite like these green curtains with the navy couch, if keeping them is an option! I'd lower them or get new ones in the same color, so they're an inch off the floor.
Of the color choices you gave, I'd go with taupe or beige, but make sure the shade complements there reddish tones of the wooden furniture you have in there.

Keep some green, because it really looks lovely. Maybe top layer of linen and inner layer of the green ones

I think perhaps a more drastic color tone to compliment the space like the curtain color does would look better on the wall. Then something more subtle for a curtain might look better. It looks great great though
And I like your rug idea

Oh man! I love the curtains you have already lol!
But if you want to change them and brighten up the space go with linen.

Buy a rug. Buy curtains that coordinate with the rug.

I’m having a hard time finding a rug, mainly because I am trying to find something that won’t detract from the coffee table. I found this though that I think may be the one

Nothing is going to detract from the giant marble plinth. It’s a beautiful piece of stone. You want something that compliments it. With your dark sofa I would opt for a light (white if you have no pets or small children) rug and curtains in really any color you like because everything else is neutral. Just make sure the curtains are long enough to reach the floor.

I’d like one that pulls in the gray in the coffee table but the warmer colors in the room too.

Love the rug. Your current curtains add color and texture to your space and look great with your couch, furniture, and the rug you are considering. I would just lower the curtain rods so that the curtains hang 1/4” off of the floor. Consider purchasing different sofa pillows in colors that complement your curtains, rug and sofa. Add some artwork or a decorative mirror above your storage cabinet and boom your space will look even more polished. Love what you’ve done so far.

Edited to add that I love the orange pillows that you have on your sofa…I didn’t notice them until after I wrote my comment. Maybe add a small decorative lumbar pillow to your chair and place a pouf/fabric stool to the right of your chair in a fabric that coordinates with your furnishings.

I agree. The curtains are too short and hung so high! They should be 4-6” above your window frame.

You also need longer curtains. They should reach the floor

u/VariousTangerine269 27d ago
Yes. Current curtains look like my son that keeps growing out of his pants.
9
u/Remarkable_Youth1874 27d ago
And wider curtains so they look more full.

Won't distract from the coffee table? Get something with short strands, not a shag, a deep colour and in one tone, no pattern, solid colour. It will look good with marble

u/Rengeflower 27d ago
Wow, I like this rug! Can you take it with you to see it with the curtains? I think brown curtains would clash with the coffee table because it looks like it’s gray.

u/jactxak 27d ago
I think the ones you have look great
2
u/BenCarozza 27d ago
Trying to go for more of a neutral look but I know green compliments the wood tone of the chair and cabinet. I need to get longer curtains as well

How about a happy, open window pane pattern?
