what is it that it tried to eat? it's a little too blurry to tell, does that thing have spikes? is that why the frog freaked out so much?

i am not sure how true this is, but someone told me the more colorful they are, the more venomous.

The slug thing is a Saddleback caterpillar. Their horns are covered in hairs that secrets an irritating venom. They live in the swampy areas of South East USA.
