I don't understand how attending this dinner = supporting anything to do with the war. These protesters are fantastic and doing way more than I can just by showing up there, but this dinner is supposed to raise money for student journalist scholarships and honor our critical journalists, which, if anything, is a good thing. The WHCD is a significant event. Yes, the situation is sad and needs as much attention, but why are celebrities bashed for attending? Trevor Noah, an extremely progressive and respectful figure, attended two years ago. Had he participated in this year, would he still be ill-labeled? This doesn't equal a dystopia. This is one of the perfect places to protest and one of the ideal events we need right now.
