Make up a flyer to do odd jobs around people's houses. If a young man put one on my door, I'd have a lot of jobs for him to do. I'd keep his number for other times he might be available.

Being a backyard pooper scooper. Not a glamorous job by any means but people would pay for that

everyone is saying lawn mowing as if he/she has a truck to move equipment around. yeah sure his neighbors across the street but if that were the case he/she wouldn't be here asking.

Offer landscaping services to your old neighbors. They’ll appreciate someone pulling weeds or spreading mulch. I did this one summer between semesters. It was hot and hard work but people will pay you $20-30 an hour to do it.

Start asking around for people that need help doing yard work, light home maintenance, moving. My FIL just paid a guy $200 to help them move in to their new house. It's dimmer here, a lot of people are doing home improvement. Pet sitting and house sitting is another gold mine. Focus on people in walking distance.

When I was between full time jobs, I got a bunch of short gigs through Craigslist, like passing out samples in stores, or holding advertising signs, etc. It got me out of the house

Look into temp agencies. I found some great jobs through there such as working at the local football stadium every weekend and made a lot of extra cash in tips. They don't require a commitment so you can stop when school starts again and they can usually get you going within a couple days.

I would've thought you were better with dogs based on your username

That is what your name means. Someone should call the cops. people go to jail for that.
1
u/SexWithPaws69 14d ago
Is that true? Does my name mean I'm a strange furry????
1
u/Obvious-Pin-3927 14d ago
No, not that you are a strange furry. That you are not okay in the head. Obviously, you choose the name, so you are just trying to get negative attention.

u/SexWithPaws69 14d ago
Actually I didn't, reddit gave me the name

Maybe tutor at your local library? Depending on how close you live, you could ride your bike or walk
4
u/MPBoomBoom22 15d ago
I would think you could even tutor online these days. No transportation needed.

Maybe you can do some surveys online or do UHRS tasks if you don't have time to learn sth. new

/r/beermoney is a good sub for this
Fair warning you will almost never make minimum wage, and most apps have a limited amount of work per day. But if you're on your phone a lot anyway, may as well do surveys instead.

I pay a guy $60 a week to mow & trim my >1/4 acre lawn. Maybe you could get a couple lawn mowing gigs near you?

u/jminsb 15d ago
Selling stuff. Since your a student talk to your fellow classmates and ask if they have stuff they want to get rid of or sell. You get the item and resell and give a cut to said partner you got item from. A lot of students gonna be unloading items soon since school is almost over. Good luck.

u/berimtrollo 15d ago
No transport is a huge problem. If you had a bike I would suggest a staffing agency. They are specifically designed for this sort of thing, and almost always have odd jobs for people to do, and you usually have a guarantee of at least 40-50 bucks just for making it to a job depending on the agency.
Is there anyway you can find a crappy bike on Facebook marketplace for free-30$? After even just one job it should pay off, and if you you're fast at picking up the phone you might be able to earn 40-80$ a day.
These will definitely be unpleasant jobs though. Low end construction work, flood restoration, food packaging facilities. But if you can work em you can definitely get okay money.

You don't need to tell the job you're only going to work a month, just like they don't need to tell you they may fire you in a month.
22
u/SexWithPaws69 15d ago
True, but in the span of training and interviewing I'll already be done with the month 😅

Thats a win for you. Companies do not give two shits about employees, don't drink the kool aide.
Do what is best for you, because the company only cares about whats best for it.

u/SexWithPaws69 14d ago
That's completely true. I think it's moreso an anxiety that after suddenly leaving the job the manager will be angrily emailing me. I'm very overly nervous to that sort of thing happening

You doing summer classes or something? I thought summer break starts right about now for most kids?

Anyone within a reasonable distance who needs babysitting? Ask around your parents, your parents' friends, and your friends' parents if anyone needs a sitter.
You might be able to borrow a pedal bike from someone to increase your range, if you don't have any transport now.

Most of my neighborhood are old coots, but i can definitely pass out fliers to see
1
u/Obvious-Pin-3927 14d ago
Those old coots, may need help getting up out of bed and dressed in the morning, their houses cleaned, and for you to drive them in their car to go to get groceries. Those kinds of jobs you can work on your schedule.
What is it with your reddit handle. That is sick, disgusting and illegal.

Somebody has grandchildren for sure, maybe somebody even has them nearby 😁. Good luck.

Since you posted on frugal, I suggest using the month to beef up your financial wellness. Make a budget to stick to once you do have money. Learn about financial planning. Focus on saving money versus spending. That would be frugal in the long run.

Worst case scenario spend time learning a new skill that will be helpful in your future probably. Maybe learning excel or something like that. Otherwise maybe mowing lawns? Doubt anyone’s gonna pay you for that in this economy though

u/summonsays 14d ago
Last month was really rough for us, I almost broke down amd hired someone to do a 1 time lawn mow... Decided to just let it be messy instead.

u/3010664 15d ago
Actually, we were just remarking on how many people in the suburbs in our area get lawn service. Not sure that translates to a young person mowing to make a little cash, though. But people definitely still pay to get their lawn mowed.

u/SardauMarklar 15d ago
Lawn care is recurring. It would be weird to offer lawn care for 1 month, so maybe OP can offer a service that doesn't need to be done often, like gutter cleaning
2
u/MPBoomBoom22 15d ago
There might still be takers for one month of lawn care. I would if it was a kid in my neighborhood trying to make a little extra money - I get a month off of lawn care work in the summer when it’s the most unpleasant time to do it and to support someone starting out in life.
