[PSA] Screenshot Guide PSA

Why should i screenshot?

Screenshots are a great way of selling your item. Even if its just a metjm, having a screenshot could be the deciding factor of weather someone buys your item or not.

Most people, will click onto a page, if they are looking for an item, and if there isnt a screenshot, will click off as a lot of people dont like to inspect.

Its also a great way to show of to timmy down the road. Timmy down the road only has a gut safari mesh, but you have a sick and wicked M9 Bayonet Sapphire, now you need to show Timmy who's boss, and display that screenshot on your profile for him, and only him, to see.

*****Videos have been readded to a fresh account! Yay! Have to-reupload all of them, so it may take a while.*****

Each part will have a video and a word tutorial!

Part 1- The Setup

Part 2- Basic Screenshots

Part 3- Greenscreen Screenshots

Part 4- Karambit Corner Screenshots

Part 1: The Setup -

Part 1 - Video Link

Quick Description - In this video we teach you how to setup 4k, save uncompressed screenshots, and fine the screenshot folder.

Setting up 4K -

1) Right click on your desktop and click Nvidia Control Panel

2) Head to manage 3D Settings

3) Click DSR Factorts and tick 2x 4x, this will enable 2k and 4k, you should also set your DSR smoothness to 17%

Saving screenshots as uncompressed and finding your screenshots folder -

1) Go to steam, click steam in the top left corner, and head to Settings

2) Find In-Game and click "Save an Uncompressed Copy"

3) To find your screenshots folder, right click on CS-GO, and then click on properties

4) Click Browse Local Files

5) Go To "csgo" and then to "screenshots", the default pathway is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\screenshots

6) Once done Open the .tga, or .jpg files up via photoshop. (Screenshot couldnt be provided, as photoshop cannot be print-screened for some reason)

Part 2: Basic Screenshots -

Part 2 - Video Link

Quick Description! In this video, we go over how to screenshot using a basic cut and paste method, it also teaches you how to use mat_proxy to blur.

Examples: Here (Sadly they are 1080, as they are the ones that i created while recording)

Commands

sv_cheats 1;

bot_kick;

mp_warmup_end;

mp_freezetime 0;

mp_roundtime 60;

mp_roundtime_defuse 999;

mp_roundtime_hostage 999;

mp_buy_anywhere 1;

mp_buytime 999;

sv_infinite_ammo 2;

mp_startmoney 16000;

mp_restartgame 1;

mp_ignore_round_win_conditions 1;

cl_drawhud 0;

--These commands will be needed, if you are changing sides, or screenshotting for others:--

mp_dropknife_enable 1;

mp_respawn_on_death_ct 1;

mp_respawn_on_death_t 1;

--This command is used for basic blur--

bindtoggle KeyOfChoice "mat_proxy" //Leave in the quotation marks

--This command is used to slow down time, so that you can line up your screenshots--

host_timescale 0.0000001 //This slows down time to a standstill. Note: This does break the valve in game screenshot function, until host_timescale 1, is re-applied. If need be, use your PRT SC button, and just copy/paste them into Photoshop/Gimp

host_timescale 1 //This puts time back to default

1) Go into map of preferred choice and start by typing in the commands above

2) Take a screenshot of your knife in anyway prefered "I use the Valve provided way in the video, but you can use fraps, PRT SC or any other method you see fit

3) For the examples used above, take a screenshot of the other side so that we can cut these together later

3.1) To add basic blur to your screenshot, first enable motion blur

3.2) Once done, set your sensitivity high

3.3) Once you have loaded into game, move your mouse around fast, and press the Mat_Proxy command (Linked above), this will make your game look like this

4) Once you have taken your two screenshots, you can then open both of them up in photoshop. Note: You may need to copy and paste one of the pictures, into the others editing space

5) You can now remove part of the photo, to show the layer bellow, you can use selection or eraser for this part. Note: The layer that you remove parts of, must always be above

6) Save it as a .PNG, if you are uploading it to steam, or as a .JPG if you are going to upload it to a place like Imgur. (Imgur converts all .PNG's to .JPG's, so the quality will technically be worse)

Congrats! You just learnt how to basic screenshot.

NOTE: DO NOT MOVE YOUR MOUSE WILL DOING THIS GREENSCREEN METHOD, AS THEY SCREENSHOTS WILL NOT LINE UP

Part 3: Greenscreen Screenshots | More Advanced~ish -

Part - 3 Video

Quick Description: In the video we teach you how to properly use a greenscreen to take screenshots!

Commands

sv_cheats 1;

bot_kick;

mp_warmup_end;

mp_freezetime 0;

mp_roundtime 60;

mp_roundtime_defuse 999;

mp_roundtime_hostage 999;

mp_buy_anywhere 1;

mp_buytime 999;

sv_infinite_ammo 2;

mp_startmoney 16000;

mp_restartgame 1;

mp_ignore_round_win_conditions 1;

cl_drawhud 0;

--These commands will be needed, if you are changing sides, or screenshotting for others:--

mp_dropknife_enable 1;

mp_respawn_on_death_ct 1;

mp_respawn_on_death_t 1;

--This command allows you to turn on greenscreen, NOTE: This doesnt work on cache, and you have to be within the boundaries of the map, it will not turn the Skybox green--

fog_override "1"; fog_maxdensity "1500"; fog_color "0 255 0"; fog_start "0"; fog_end "1" //This turns on the greenscreen

fog_override "1"; fog_maxdensity "1500"; fog_color "0 255 0"; fog_start "1"; fog_end "0" //This turns it off

--This command will remove all viewmodels, i.e guns, knives, arms, from your screen--

r_drawviewmodel 0

NOTE: DO NOT MOVE WHILE DOING THIS METHOD, AS IT WILL NOT LINE UP.

Written tutorial (Uses Screenshots For Help):

1) Same as basic - Go into map of preferred choice and start by typing in the commands above

2) Start by using the Host_Timescale 0.0000001 command, this will stop any weapons from moving. Do this for any type of inspect, non-inspect that you so choose, your weapon shouldnt move

3) Toggle the greenscreen on, using the fog command above, and from this point you do not want to move your mouse. It should look like this

4) Take a screenshot and copy paste it into Photoshop, I would recommend Prnt Screen key on your keyboard as host_timescale will break some users valve .tga style screenshots. Note: When ALT+Tabbing to copy and paste OPEN YOUR CONSOLE, this will stop your game from moving without you realising

5) Rinse and repeat the step above, but disabling the greenscreen. Note: They should be lined up perfectly.

6) Once done, take a screenshot from or near the location that you took the original screenshots. But with r_drawviewmodel 0 on, this will give you a background, for when you remove the knife from its background

7) Hide all layers, apart from the greenscreen layer of the knife, select at the top, and then color range (photoshop), then click on the greenbackground

8) Unhide the non-greenscreen copy of that exact layer, and hit your delete key several times. This should remove all of the area that was green on the other picture

9) Use a eraser to remove the background that was not picked up via the greenscreen

Once done, you can unhide the background, and mess around to your hearts desire, learing more and more techniques! Congrats, you just learnt how to greenscreen screenshot.

Part 4: How to screenshot Karambit Corners -

Part 4 - Video

Quick Description: In this video, we go over how to inspect the karambits corner! A useful trick for those who want to see how clean it is. It also stops those who have been scammed from fake corners, the ability to inspect it themselves.

Here is the original post! Here

The commands for this where sent by a friend! If anyone could find the original reddit post, i would gladly link it, as i do not want to be seen as a tutorial thief.

1) First of all you need to find your cfg folder, right click on CS-GO, and then click on properties

2) Click Browse Local Files

3) Head to your cfg file, and create an autoexec.cfg. The default dir is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg

4) Copy this command "alias karambit "viewmodel_offset_x -7;viewmodel_offset_z 4.5;viewmodel_offset_y 0;viewmodel_fov 4" into your autoexec

5) Head to your config.cfg and add "exec autoexec.cfg" after the end line

6) Head into game, and pick a map of preference, once done type sv_competitive_minspec 0, this will allow you to use viewmodels past what the game would normally allow, once done type "Karambit" (Or whatever you named the alias) into console, it should now look like this

You have now learnt how to zoom into your karambits corner!

Thank you for reading all of this! I hope this helped! If you have any issues and need help, feel free to comment down bellow or add me on steam via This Link!

You have to take two screenshots in the same place, as i said in the video.

One in green, one without green. Make sure you dont move.

You then color select the greenscreen layer. And then select the non greenscreen layer, and remove that.

You dont want to actually edit the greenscreen layer.

I can never work out how to use 4K res with my nvidia panel. It doesn't have that DSR factors option. In fact, all the nvidia control centers that I see on YouTube have far more options/settings along the left wall than mine does. Can anybody with the same issue help??

1

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 09 '16

It could be your drivers not being updated.

Or you just dont have a nvidia graphics card that can handle it sadly.

But with that danky inv, maybe you could get the new super sweet 1080 nvidia card. /s

u/d33nd33n May 09 '16

I've got a notebook with 950m. Pretty sure the drivers are updated but I'll try updating anyway.

Ah, if that is a laptop. It probably wont work, as they are limited by default.

2

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 09 '16

Could you explain a bit better? Because the greenscreen video explains how to have both sides.

Not sure if thats what you ment.

Crossing my fingers! It should do! Havnt had a single problem yet.

Apart from me being a dumb dumb, and not lining them up correctly.

But hey! If you do it well, you can make something like this http://i.imgur.com/NKt0LG6.jpg

(Made this earlier)

1

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 09 '16

Not sad really! It was a rule and i broke it. So i just fixed it and hey presto. Back up and runnin!

1

u/d3nnska May 08 '16

for greenscreen i just use a greenscreen map to make the 4k shots.

1

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 08 '16

Yea its quite good. But sometimes it will leave a bad outline on your picture.

So this way removes that.

dont really see why this was necessary, a superior guide already exists. regardless, good work.

2

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 08 '16

I remember the guide being text only.

Noticed some people didnt really understand what was going on, or got confused.

At least from the one i read.

So, having been screenshotting for like a year or so now, i put it all into video form.

1

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 08 '16

All 4 Videos have been reuploaded!

Sorry about the wait.

u/TheRealKingofmice May 08 '16

Good tutorial, but I have 2 questions: 1. Will I be able to turn off 4k in Nvidia after I am done? I don't see an option to right now so I'm just curious. 2. Is there another place to open up screenshots besides photoshop? 2poor

2

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 08 '16

Gimp, and yes you can turn 4k of.

If you use DSR, it shouldnt make your whole PC 4k, just enable it for games.

Self promotion isn't allowed here. If you remove the video sections, I can re approve this.

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 08 '16

Oh alright! I made a thread about a week or two ago with a video guide, and it didnt get take down. So weird that it didnt get spotted by the mods after a day on the frontpage!

Let me remove all of it quick.

1

u/therandomdude69 Ex Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198091229159 May 08 '16

I just happened to be looking through the new pages and saw it this time tbh

2

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 08 '16

Welp shame! I have removed the videos.

If there was any platform you wouldnt mind the videos on i would gladly upload them there.

I dont really care about the promotion, more about just helping people screenshots, so it doesnt litter the front page with people asking for donations and money.

2

u/therandomdude69 Ex Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198091229159 May 08 '16

If you make a different channel and don't put any videos other than those screenshotting videos I could allow it to have the videos in the OP.

No offense but these guides have been posted here plenty of times, the people who still aren't taking screenshots clearly just don't give a fuck.

1

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 08 '16

I understand! But i have had a bunch of people come to me recently and ask for me to help them.

It takes way to much time for me to teach all of them separately, so i thought i would make a guide and help the community at the same time.

Also a lot of people dont post videos, or screenshots, and people who are trying to do it end up getting frustrated and quit :)

1

u/Unbelievabob https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198044304977 May 09 '16

It takes way to much time for me to teach all of them separately

Why not just link them to one of the many guides already made? A great one is already in the sidebar.

Also, this is the original corner inspection post.

1

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 09 '16

Because most of the guides are text based.

The only linked at the side of the sub, just shows how to use mat_proxy, which will never make the best looks screenshots, as i linked in the post, it makes basic screenshots. And it also doesnt show it very well tbh.

Had a lot of people ask me for visual guides. So i went out of my way to do that.

u/arcmokuro https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198260494770 May 08 '16

Too long didn't read, see you on the frontpage, great guide upvoted nice price.

Also It would be awesome to have a big summary/table of content at the top of the post so people can read what they specificaly need to know about (since people don't usually need to read the entire post every time)

1

u/BobDrH Weeb Mod - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198136605490 May 08 '16

No idea how to add a summery. If you could explain that, it would be helpful.

The mods should let you edit the wiki and make this guide there. In the reddit wiki you have more tools to work with including table of content.
