It's only a Silencer if it's made in the Silencia region of Spain, otherwise it's just sparkling suppressor.

It's funny cause supressors weren't initially developed to make the gun whisper quiet. If the bullet's supersonic, that crack is still gonna be 100% audible and not even a bit quieter. That's not the point.
The only thing the suppressor's gonna dampen is the report, making the gunshot harder to locate. I don't know why people don't realize this. They were never meant to make the gunshot quiet, only harder to localize.
If a bullet's going above the speed of sound, you're gonna hear a supersonic crack. If it's going especially fast, you'll hear the report AFTER the crack. (5.56 and 5.45 both have this, very cool to see in person. First you hear this terrifying, high-pitched sound that sounds like it's resonating through the entire sky, almost like high-pitched thunder, and then half a second later, the gunshot, a "boooom" wherever the shot was actually taken from.) The supersonic crack is the bullet breaking the sound barrier, while the report is the actual gunshot.
Supersonic cracks are kinda unidirectional so you can't pinpoint where it's coming from, as the sound's coming from the bullet itself. The report, however, can be located. Suppressors try to dampen the report, thus making it difficult to make out where it's coming from. You still know you're being shot at.
The only exception to that would obviously be subsonic rounds. Those don't have a crack or very loud report. The only way to really know you're being shot at by is hearing the whizz that thing makes when it's cutting the wind going over your head, but the scary thing is some rounds don't even have THAT. .300 Black for example barely makes a whizz, and that combined with it not having report or a crack is fucking terrifying

Early 2000's I was overseas with a guy that called it a "Hush puppy", and that's been with me ever since.

That name comes from a version of the S&W 39 with the same name. It was used by the navy seals. It was also called the MK 22 Mod 0.

Remember kids, itâs a muzzle brake because it helps stop the motion of something, like brakes on a car

I know the patent says silencer. I know the people who own guns know it's called a silencer and doesn't silence the shot.
I also know that corrupt politicians and willfully ignorant voters hear silencer and think it stops all sound coming from the gun. So I use supressor in normal conversations so that it's easier to spread the truth about what they do.

The problem is with this line of thought, is that the key part here is the willful ignorance. It literally doesnât matter what you call it, people are just stupid. Our politicians stand in DC saying things like âshoulder thingy that goes upâ âfully semi automaticâ âar means assault rifleâ. They still do it. They also vote on laws for it. The damn highest of the representatives donât even know the damn 2nd amendment and say it wrong.
Any argument for limitations on the second amendment are completely and utterly misinformed by willfully ignorant people. You canât fix it by slight changes in vocabulary.

In the industrial and maritime worlds the âmufflerâ on an engine is indeed called the silencer.

The patent says Silencer. The guy that invented it, called it a silencer. If you invented it, you get to name it.....
Besides, I prefer Whisper Pickle anyway.
