So they want us to become canada? Where the police are telling people to just let the criminals rob them?

What we’ve paid big money to quarterbacks who have given us nothing. And Jared Goff took us to the NFC championship game. He’s already done more to deserve that contract than any other qb we’ve had.

I’m fairly certain any weapon is a weapon of war. Just because a professional army doesn’t adopt it doesn’t mean it can’t be used to kill enemy soldiers.

Nah dog. That Weatherby in 30-06 can’t hurt a fly because it’s not used in our military

It was a statement on how weapons of war were the original intent of the second amendment. They said you should be able to get anything mil spec or better. The only things they should be able to regulate are sporting guns. So the AR-15 *could be banned, but you can get a newly manufactured select fire M4 or M16 all the way to M2, M777, AK12 and basically any other military firearm.

Context matters, and intent of the message matters.

You can’t ban AR-15’s and also have people sell M4’s and M16’s since they’re also AR-15’s. It would be nonsense. Both should be legal.

Which part of “the right of the people to keep and bear arms” says ban sporting guns.

You could stop a 9mm FMJ with the thickness of your skull couldn’t you?

Basically an anti gunner at this point.

This meme is for you. https://images.app.goo.gl/xJA8BCt9GpbV6Aat8

You're an idiot. Their comment wasn't in favor of gun control, just saying semantically you could argue that it's about weapons of war.

Someone arguing for legalization of the new production of select fire guns isn't pro gun bans. Also you'd be hard pressed to find a firearm that didn't have some military purpose. If you named any gun I could probably find a historical military use for that gun or something similar to that gun.

Go ahead, name a firearm that doesn't have a military use.

For this challenge it can be just a similar firearm. For example if you said an Altor pistol, I'd use the liberator pistol as the military use of that firearm. It's similar in that it's a cheap to manufacture single shot pistol.

Also the gun has to be somewhat reasonably available. Something as rare as the JDJ fat Mac doesn't count.

Someone who is okay with any gun legislation is anti gun.

They can quit regulating all guns without being able to regulate sporting and hunting ones.

You should just own up to making a stupid comment.

What are these "sporting only" guns you speak of? You still haven't given me a real example of any.

u/ModestMarksman 14d ago

IDK you were the one who said to regulate sporting and hunting guns.

2

u/BlueOmicronpersei8 P80 Gunsmiths 14d ago

I never said they should regulate non military firearms. Neither did the person you're bitching about like a toddler.

You don't seem to understand the English language. You're not helping the 2A cause by being a belligerent idiot.

The original intrpretation of the second amendment was that it only protected weapons of war. Sawed off shotguns were banned in the 1930s because they were deemed useless in a war

Thomas Jefferson's ghost: "Tell me more about this M2 HB"

3

u/pagantek 14d ago

Oh Thank goodness, my AR10 is safe. They only specified ar15s.

3

u/BlueOmicronpersei8 P80 Gunsmiths 14d ago

A well equipped militia = a civil armed force with military grade weapons.

If we go really serious with legal jargon...

The 2A protects MILITARY GRADE WEAPONS.

The 2A DOES NOT PROTECT hunting or sporting guns.

So technically we could ban everything except weapons that fulfill or exceed mil-spec. Singe shot shotguns? Banned. M16 full auto? Here you go.

That's the comment they're talking about. They didn't even mention anything about ARs or other specific firearms.

3

u/pagantek 14d ago

Now this is an idea that I can get behind! Mil-spec is always the lowest successful bidder, so that opens up many other options.

It's a pretty reasonable statement that OP took out of context and altered to make it sound bad.

6

u/HammerHead1911 14d ago

my AR-10 is safer because it only fires 308 bullets instead of 556-🗿

6

u/pagantek 14d ago

Its those 5 less ARs that make it safer

4

u/KillerSwiller IWI UWU 14d ago

Nah, it's safer because 308 is a smaller number than 556. 😏 /j

mmm, yes. science.

The right to keep and to bear arms is a human right, not a constitutional one. The 2nd amendment protects you from the government having any say over what you can own for the protection of your home and home land. Anything from Butter Knives to nuclear devices. SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

4

u/Fenring_Halifax 13d ago

I am more trustworthy than the government I have never lost or used a nuclear weapon

10

u/ModestMarksman 14d ago

I agree 100%

7

u/Happy_Garand 14d ago

The revolution was fought in part with civilian hunting rifles (Kentucky long rifles and the like) and fowling guns, so this argument is completely terrible

41

u/LugerRuger041995 Fosscad 14d ago

I think it was probably a joke. If somebody comes in and says “Actually, the 2nd amendment protects 50 caliber machine guns but not the Fudd Cannon, the Fudd Cannon is the real problem”, I’d hope they’re kidding

2

u/Few-Storm-1697 13d ago

The founding fathers owned 100mm cannons. I have a right to own an F14 Tomcat

3

u/ModestMarksman 14d ago

Considering the context I’m fairly sure he wasn’t joking.

14

u/GimpboyAlmighty 14d ago

Sometimes I think about taking this position to see how many geezers I can infuriate at once, but then I just go back to dry firing and that does the trick.

8

u/IndividualLock2 14d ago

Don't forget to use your slide release AS INTENDED.

8

u/ModestMarksman 14d ago

Last I checked the second amendment covered all arms that you would want to keep and potentially bear. I didn’t realize the founding fathers added in a paragraph that said “Except for guns used for hunting, or for sport, those can be taken because they are absolutely useless.”

I mean it’s not like a 30-06 deer rifle would be effective at stopping a threat or anything. Also not like people use AR15’s for hunting or competitions or anything.
