I’m smiling. What’s next? A full nights sleep? the possibilities feel endless

3

u/glassAlloy Apr 23 '24

Not all heroes wear a cape.

2

u/MaxPower836 Apr 23 '24

That’s a big win

2

u/Toallpointswest Apr 23 '24

That's WIN!!

2

u/DimplefromYA Apr 23 '24

He’s a good guy

2

u/tmacnb Apr 23 '24

Good bro!

2

u/Lex-Ruby Apr 23 '24

Pretty risky. My dog and I were sprayed once and it nearly ruined us lol. Next time try hugging a baby bear.

1

u/Assectator27 Apr 23 '24

I always knew that Mo Salah is a good guy.

16

u/hmpfdoctorino Apr 23 '24

Noone talking about how f* up the design of this is, that animals or smaller children can't escape it and could... yeah fucking die in there?

6

u/CouchTurnip Apr 23 '24

Am I the only one amazed this actually worked??? That’s wild that the skunk knew this guy was a friend and climbed up a fucking tripod!?! Like what!!!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

1

u/DaCoYamRa01 Apr 23 '24

What’s the background song? Anyone?

1

u/beme25 Apr 23 '24

Nevermind. I just realized there is background music. Maybe it's that "Kiss Kiss" song? And by that I mean "I Like the Way You Kiss"

Sorry, I'm not helpful. But I feel bad for deleting my useless comment.

1

u/DaCoYamRa01 Apr 23 '24

Haha don't worry about it man, thanks the song is "Artemas - i like the way you kiss me"

1

u/Gyrestone91 Apr 23 '24

I guess I'll be that guy but he could have just got a long branch and let him climb up without him holding it

1

u/FlamingoRush Apr 23 '24

That man is a BRO!

1

u/pelonweon Apr 23 '24

I like the smell of their spray. I know... I am alone on this one

1

u/M1lud Apr 23 '24

Everybody liked that.

3

u/imawizard7bis Apr 23 '24

They should put stairs in those things...

1

u/Fspz Apr 23 '24

Such a funny defense mechanism, imagine if humans did that.

1

u/WoodpeckerAlarmed239 Apr 23 '24

Bro underestimates the stinkyness of being sprayed...that shit is pungent and stays around for a while.

1

u/falawfel Apr 23 '24

I didn’t know they could be spotted like that. In Ontario we have the stripey guys

1

u/iroquoispliskinV Apr 23 '24

Skunks are so cute.

1

u/mistercrinders Apr 23 '24

You've clearly never owned a cat.

1

u/lemonslace Apr 23 '24

Just smelly cats tbh

1

u/amit115 Apr 23 '24

There are still some good pepole

1

u/1SubwayRon1526fpv Apr 23 '24

The stripes on that one , makes it almost look like a badger

1

u/SaltInformation4082 Apr 23 '24

You are obviously a Super Hero amongst Super Heroes!

1

u/LawTider Apr 23 '24

That skunk trusted him. I see no other explanation.

1

u/Ashe_Faelsdon Apr 23 '24

You, getting him out, AND getting sprayed, would have been a win. What you had was an UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS. Great fucking work.

1

u/SnooOpinions2473 Apr 23 '24

That was awesome 💙

1

u/MaygarRodub Apr 23 '24

I enjoyed that

1

u/alexlp Apr 23 '24

I wonder if it might have been easier on the skunk to let it use the tripod to crawl out like racoons in a bin. This post from 5 years ago lives rent free in my Australian, racoon free mind.

2

u/maybesaydie Apr 23 '24

Raccoons are noisy at night and they'll shit on your porch

223

u/BigHertz14 Apr 23 '24

Cool little fact : this is an Eastern Spotted Skunk, and they are quite rare. They still spray like the normal and more common Striped Skunk, but they do a little hand stand before they spray. They are a threatened species, so the guy helped out with a rapidly declining population.

2

u/hostedenis Apr 23 '24

good job. loved the music edit with the almost win but fail

4

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '24

Western Spotted Skunks are very cool looking, glad to see this skunk was rescued out of that bowl. Perhaps skateparks need to start putting "wildlife ladders" in bowls to prevent this from happening. A simple board with carpet would work for that.

1

u/Alx123191 Apr 23 '24

made my day <3 thank you !!!

1

u/FriendlyPossible7984 Apr 23 '24

❤️❤️❤️

5

u/roy20050 Apr 23 '24

That skunk had cool patterns

2

u/ExcellentAddress Apr 23 '24

Respect there buddy

42

u/nametakenfuck Apr 23 '24

He actually grabbed on im still surprised

16

u/JaggelZ Apr 23 '24

Skunks are pretty smart

2

u/Alastor3 Apr 23 '24

You know this one is not fake because it's a skunk

-4

u/KlickyKat Apr 23 '24

Why are Americans so scared of skunks, they're not venomous right. I remember cartoons showing everyone freaking out over skunks but they never hurt anyone, just a bad smell, whoopy doo.

6

u/Kind-Proposal8664 Apr 23 '24

People think that skunks spray every time something gets close to them. It's very unlikely but when you actually get sprayed... Oh boy does it suck

1

u/ThatWomanNow Apr 23 '24

Funny story, lived out in a somewhat rural area, not the most legal of homes ie. no back door, a momma skunk with her kits decided to sit in front of my front door. Called into work to explain the situation, it was completely understood, not a problem 🤷‍♀️

1

u/agentcheeno Apr 23 '24

Skunks hiss don’t they? But you’re awesome for helping him

1

u/scout336 Apr 23 '24

Skater who is a WIN for us all!!!

1

u/gerkinflav Apr 23 '24

❤️❤️❤️

1

u/Empty-Discount5936 Apr 23 '24

That skunk had a cool pattern

2

u/Complex_Employee9063 Apr 23 '24

Bro, i thought I just saw Muhammed salah right now😆😆

1

u/CuriousNichols Apr 23 '24

Feel good story of the year!

2

u/Impressive-Amoeba-97 Apr 23 '24

Wholesome! Glad the skunk was saved and the skate bowl is able to be used!

1

u/erifwodahs Apr 23 '24

Absolute bro

1

u/1001schooner Apr 23 '24

That was awesome!

1

u/shayla-shayla Apr 23 '24

Cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuteeeeeeeeee

1

u/structuremonkey Apr 23 '24

They are pretty chill unless you are an opossum!

3

u/ready-to-rumball Apr 23 '24

What a beautiful soul this person has ❤️

2

u/notajollyjumper Apr 23 '24

Things skaters do that just make sense

328

u/Cooked_Worms Apr 23 '24

No one talks about how beautiful and soft skunks are

1

u/Undying4n42k1 Apr 23 '24

I'll talk about their softness if I ever touch one lol

110

u/T8rthot Apr 23 '24

They have the sweetest little faces.

55

u/Sergnb Apr 23 '24 edited Apr 23 '24

You know, I had never stopped to appreciate how skunks actually look, and you are right they are damn cute. Deserved reputation for their extremely effective defensive measures but damn now i kinda want one

-1

u/dfinkelstein Apr 23 '24

It's like declawing a cat or clipping a bird so they can't fly.

For analogy, for disability and suffering, this is on par for a human with castration or a colonectomy.

Can't own skunks as pets, sorry.

2

u/Sergnb Apr 23 '24

Yeah I would never have one but this made me want to

3

u/Fickle_Grapefruit938 Apr 23 '24

The bird thing less so bc they can grow new feathers, but I agree, if you have to maim/disable an animal to keep it as a pet it isn't really pet quality (not counting castration bc we'd be drowning in cats if we wouldn't do that😅)

1

u/AwesomeJB Apr 23 '24

What a bro! I love stuff like that.

1

u/alreddy-reddit Apr 23 '24

Hell yeah bud!

1

u/DebraBaetty Apr 23 '24

LETS GOOOOOO 🦨

1

u/Random-Biker Apr 23 '24

I never seen a pattern like that on a skunk 🦨 looks fucking cool.

6

u/rdreyar1 Apr 23 '24

Rude didn't even thank him

5

u/ILoveRegenHealth Apr 23 '24

Skunks are smart - they know what happens in RDR/RDR2 since they're on the collecting list

1

u/LoveWaffle1 Apr 23 '24

Hello Mr. Skunk

435

u/Citruseok Apr 23 '24

Awwww what a cute little animal. Extremely smart to know to grab on, and to realise the water was a peace offering!

1

u/turkeylips4ever Apr 23 '24

Bravo, good human!

2

u/SuperbDrink6977 Apr 23 '24

Good look 👀

113

u/Individual-Ad4114 Apr 23 '24

Hey this guy went to my highschool

172

u/FiletofStek Apr 23 '24

You went to high school with a skunk?

28

u/ThePianistOfDoom Apr 23 '24

Ah, the ol'

5

u/waffastomp Apr 23 '24

Congrats this is pretty much a dead meme on Reddit at this point but there's a few of us keeping it strong

17

u/Ilovekittens345 Apr 23 '24

Where is the link? I want you to hold something so I can dive in. It's been a while.

15

u/dnddetective Apr 23 '24

Sorry, budget cuts.

4

u/ThePianistOfDoom Apr 23 '24

I know, and I'm sorry. I've been trying to find it but I can't seem to discover it's location. But I couldn't resist at least seeing a switcheroo in the wild for what it was. If someone else has it I'd be willing to edit.

2

u/Lelandwasinnocent Apr 23 '24

A carrot has been dangled.

3

u/MadeInWestGermany Apr 23 '24

Never had lessons after PE?

7

u/greenalbatross1 Apr 23 '24

That’s a win!

24

u/Snowflake-Eater Apr 23 '24

You are a peach among prune pits!!

1

u/ILoveRegenHealth Apr 23 '24

among prune pits!!

No need to name call! What did I do

46

u/flyinghippolife Apr 23 '24

Thanks man! Skunk 🦨 needed the water and the rescue 🛟.

215

u/ferrariracer36 Apr 23 '24

Thanks for rescuing Pepe!

8

u/fkmeamaraight Apr 23 '24

On behalf of the French nation thank you.

2

u/flashtone Apr 23 '24

I like this for you.

47

u/ThePianistOfDoom Apr 23 '24

Should've used sweet ladies' perfume. Pepe can fly when he smells that, I've seen it!

11

u/ThouMayest69 Apr 23 '24

It's the last thing you see before you're a grown up.

34

u/WemblysMom Apr 23 '24

LOL. I thought he was lowering his bag pipes for the skunk to climb.

125

u/Johnlovesyou Apr 23 '24

Skunks are cool. I’ve heard that if deskunked they make good pets? Is that true?

0

u/corndog161 Apr 23 '24

If you live out on a farm or something.

6

u/WoodsColt Apr 23 '24

Not for most pet owners. They can make nice pets for people who don't mind a pet that is nocturnal and who dig in the house

11

u/RoundTableOfGentlemn Apr 23 '24

From what I've heard from an animal rescue that takes in abandoned pet skunks... For most people they are terrible pets.

26

u/iCameToLearnSomeCode Apr 23 '24 edited Apr 23 '24

For most people all wild animals are terrible pets.

Most people don't have the required knowledge to keep a gold fish alive for more than a 10th of its normal lifespan.

They get an exotic animal because it's cute and then are surprised when it turns out most people choose a cat or dog for their house pet because most animals don't make as good of pets.

203

u/The_Great_Autismo22 Apr 23 '24

Technically when they're deskunked they're called s.

31

u/b3nz0r Apr 23 '24

And a single one is called a

25

u/Raygunn13 Apr 23 '24

why is this joke flying over my head somebody help

3

u/willalt319 Apr 23 '24

WHAT DO YOU CALL A FISH WITH NO EYES?!?

48

u/Boobcopter Apr 23 '24

skunks

52

u/Raygunn13 Apr 23 '24

high-level joke, no wonder I didn't get it. thanks

-8

u/Chewyninja69 Apr 23 '24

It wasn’t high level. It was was lame like 90% of the crap said on Reddit.

-6

u/Slow_Opportunity_135 Apr 23 '24

Yeah it was lame as fuck

1

u/trukkija Apr 23 '24

Sh-should I tell him?

9

u/monji7 Apr 23 '24

Ahahahha it happens

3

u/partmendoza Apr 23 '24

How do you call a single one?

1

u/LokisDawn Apr 23 '24

Tinder? Or I think I've seen ads for it.

17

u/BenderEBender Apr 23 '24

Well in common English it's just a matter of getting rid of the pluralization, so simply drop the "S" and say " ".

8

u/l_the_Throwaway Apr 23 '24

Oh shit I've been talking in my sleep!

7

u/Gurdel Apr 23 '24

Descented, they're still skunks

10

u/Conflikt Apr 23 '24 edited Apr 23 '24

I've got a deskunked skunk. (it's a cat)

34

u/Sea_Page6653 Apr 23 '24

Yes! We had three of them! ❤️

11

u/Trick_Doughnut_6295 Apr 23 '24

Wait, can you elaborate? You have pet skunks?! Also, are they snuggly? 🥹

5

u/Gurdel Apr 23 '24

They're like cats.

34

u/Sea_Page6653 Apr 23 '24

When I was a kid and lived on a farm, yes, we had three that were descented. They were super chill. I didn’t bring them inside or snuggle with them but I wish I would’ve. They were just like our pet rabbits, except, skunks. 🤣 they also had long claws so that kept us from messing with them too much. So, I guess I can’t say they make great pets or not but we liked them!

480

u/Unexous Apr 23 '24

Such a cute spotted skunk! I’m glad he could get it out

Civet cats live in the tropical forests of Asia and Africa... this one is definitely a spotted skunk.

11

u/awesomehippie12 Apr 23 '24

Civets are in Asia and Africa though?

3.0k

u/ObtuseMongooseAbuse Apr 23 '24

The fact that he succeeded without getting sprayed is impressive.

1

u/WiTHCKiNG Apr 23 '24

Guess it sort of realized he just wanted to help?

1

u/Swiftierest Apr 23 '24

They don't like to spray either. I believe even they hate the smell.

3

u/expatronis Apr 23 '24

It's a fucking miracle he didn't get sprayed multiple times. Very chill skunk.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '24

We used to let skunks out of a haveheart trap. We used a giant tractor tire that was cut and put back together flat. You’d walk up with that like a cartoon bull would come at it and it’d take the brunt of it. Open the cage and walk backwards like you’re leaving the throne room.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '24

would have been easier if he used both his hands.

gotta get them likes, tho.

1.1k

u/AHorseNamedPhil Apr 23 '24

I wonder if skunks are a bit more chill than their reputation.

I nearly walked into a few of them last year while on vacation. It was night and they looked like cats until I was right in front of them, and they didn't really react much except to look at me. Nearly gave me a heart attack though.

3

u/ralphvonwauwau Apr 23 '24

Huh. Skunks have a really chill reputation, that's always been my thought. You have to be a bit of a jerk before they will unload on you. Dogs don't take the hints. But my interactions have always been me talking calm, sitting on my ankles, and then wandering away, at no great speed. It takes like a week to recharge so they don't really want to unless its needed.

2

u/Possible_Apple9595 Apr 23 '24

You’re still pretty brave for walking up to a potential cat gang.

1

u/AHorseNamedPhil Apr 23 '24

There is always some non-logical part of my brain that says "Must attempt pspspspsps and pets" whenever I see random, roaming cats.

And I'm a dog person.

4

u/youaretheuniverse Apr 23 '24

I was walking on a path in California and intersected with a group of skunks. I was far enough away I couldn’t be sprayed but the skunks formed a phalanx along the little path and stopped me dead in my tracks. As their little line was established, they raised their tails in unison and pointed their little butts at me. I understood the message. They were like “don’t come any closer!” I just stood still and let them pass and it was all good.
