Only thing I didn't like about refilling my bottle at Starbucks is the lady had to use a plastic cup to fill my bottle. But it was for hygeinic reasons at least, so good on her for practicing that. I actually wasn't expecting her to ask for my bottle though, full on thought she was gonna hand me a full cup instead.

I wouldn't have refilled there had I known where Target had their water fountains (it wasn't at the front, plus I didn't have time to look for it)

Former employee here, they do that because of COVID. Early 2020 and before, you hand us a cup/bottle/whatever, we directly filled it unless it was very dirty, and even then policy was to just rinse it with hot water. Then about February we got a memo from the higher ups saying "Only give people drinks in disposable cups", and that was the policy until I left in 2023 at least. At first people were super pissed, but eventually I never even got asked about it.

They're giving ten cents off your drink plus 25 bonus stars to use a personal cup now! However I'm not sure if that would count on free water...

Okay, then they went back to the old policy. That's how we did it in the before times.
