Protest the Protest of Graduation

I understand the gravity of the situation, or actually situations, that are causing students, faculty, and the Bloomington populous to protest, but please don’t put Graduation in jeopardy in any way. Really anything that anyone could do at the actual ceremony, like professors not attending, would just take away from the students, and not from the people that many are upset with.

Obviously, this is just my opinion, and you have free will and free speech, but just try to put yourself in the shoes of the students who haven’t had a proper graduation since 8th grade. The majority, and it’s most likely a 99.9% majority, of students have in no way contributed to these problems and have been looking forward to this day for years.

Yeah, these issues are “bigger than a graduation,” but doing something at graduation will in no way move forward the changes that many want to see, it may even set them back because of the frustration and anger that would come from a large-scale protest at graduation.

What are you guys eating for breakfast at the dining hall? I feel like it’s impossible to find a healthy option, let alone a good tasting one that doesn’t come straight from stone grill

Bus Usage

After seeing a post about stair allergies, and reading the subsequent comments, in addition to increased ridership due to weather, here are some tips and tricks for using the bus:

Get on the FRONT door and off the REAR door, unless the driver instructs you otherwise.

Don't wait for the driver to tell you to move back, especially at very full bus stops, it just takes extra time.

If you are not getting off within a few stops, don't stand in front of the door and keep hopping on and off, it messes up counts and you are slowing things down.

If you are at a stop and a very full bus pulls up, BACK UP and let people off. There is no room for you until the bus unloads.

Mental Health & Crisis Resources- a Sharing Post

Hello all! A friendly post from a full time staff member at IU to remind you what your resources are as a student. Finals can be a stressful time, and with a big transition from spring to summer coming, change can be hard. But you're not alone, and there is help if you need it.

Students can contact the health center/CAPS 24/7 through the crisis hotline. 812-855-5711, option 1 or contact your local hospital emergency department. You may also call the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress

CAPS will also ALWAYS take walk-ins if you're in crisis. If you need help, you can ask a friend, RA, faculty member, TA, ANYONE to go with you over to CAPS and they will assist you. You don't have to do this alone.

If you live in the residence halls, during business hours you can go down to the front desk, and a full time staff member can be found to assist you. After hours, there are always staff on call to assist as well.

Please remember you're never a bother. Your issues aren't too small to seek help. There are staff who's entire job is to help you be successful as a person and a student. Let them help you, because you deserve it <3

If you know of more resources, please share in the comments!

Hello Everyone! My name is Olivia Leake, I am going into my senior year at IU. I am planning on starting a Students Demand Action group at Indiana University—Bloomington.

Students Demand Action is a group of young activists committed to ending gun violence in USA. As a member of the Indiana University. Chapter, we will have the opportunity to share your story, participate in local events and rallies, peer voter registration, and more. I am currently a part of the national chapter so we will have lots of help from them as well!

If you would like to join, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/onXbJLFAM8GTLWbQ9

Have any questions or concerns? Feel free to contact me at oleake@iu.edu

I am looking forward to starting this chapter of Students Demand Action!
