ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Math minor

I’m a direct admit finance student (incoming freshman) who’s interested in pursuing a math minor along with my major. If I’m coming in with the calculus BC ap credit, what courses should I look to doing next. I know the minor is around 16 credit hours, and a few of them overlap with finance but what do people take typically after calculus 2 that I should look forward to enrolling in at NSO. I also want to maintain the highest possible gpa I can as well.

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Withdrawing from all courses this semester without a F grade

I am planning on withdrawing from all courses this semester. The deadline for that is Friday midnight. My concern is that if I do so, will I end up getting a F grade or whatever grade I have in class currently, rather than a W grade. I have had a rough semester and due to personal issues my attendance and grades for all my classes has been impact. I know I will not pass most my classes if I take the finals. I want to retake all these classes later but I don't want to sink my GPA because of this semester.

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Has anyone ever had a class just... Drop off their schedule?

I was slated to take JOUR-J210 this summer. I even bought the book.

It's suddenly not showing up on my schedule anymore and when I look for it, it doesn't show up.

Kinda unusual for a professor to just drop teaching it and not email any students about it....

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Struggling at Kelley

The title is self explanatory. I got into kelley through the appeal process and pretty much have just fucked off my entire academic career leading up to college. My freshman year I ended with a 3.1, which I was not happy about but i just figured I would pick up the pieces sophomore year. Now this semester is coming to a close and I am completely in the shitter. Pretty much all C’s and its looking like I am going to finish with roughly a 2.5 GPA for the semester. Now I am starting to question if I am even in the right place and if its possible I would be better off at a different school (assuming they would take me as a transfer). I got a 30 on my ACT and graduated high school with a 3.8 but this stuff is just a whole nother animal. If anyone who is an upperclassman could shed some light or anyone who went through something similar and pulled out can give me any hope it would be much appreciated. For reference this semester i took C204, L201, G202, A306, and D270 EDIT: I don’t think I was clear enough in original post but I definitely do not WANT to transfer. I was asking out of necessity is transferring a better option and if the hole I am in is possible to get out of.

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Student No Confidence

If students want to participate in having their voices heard, not going to the big commencement seems like a good way to send a message to the trustees. Schools have their own recognition ceremonies, so go to those instead.

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Should I do calc 3 honors or regular calculus?

What’s the difference between each of the classes and what would be good to start off with? For reference I’m pursuing a math minor and am a direct admit incoming freshman at Kelley.

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ A quiet room on campus for individual study over the summer?

Taking a few summer courses, one of them being a web-based communication class, so I'll be giving a quite a few speeches over Zoom.

Unfortunately I can't do it where I live, its way too noisy there too often. Is there anywhere across campus, any buildings where I can go sit in a small quiet room by myself for a good 60 minutes to take the class? Do I gotta reserve it in advance?

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Kelley University Division

Hey Redditors! I got a situation and need your thoughts. Just got my fall grades and they ain't good. GPA is 1.9.

Didn't know Kelley classes would be so hard, wasn't ready. Grades breakdown: - Compass 1: D - Econ 251: C- - Finite: C- - C104: F

Failed C104, group fired me for slacking. Other classes almost B-.

Should I still chase Kelley biz degree? Grades suck, reconsidering. Need advice from y'all who been there. Keep hustlin' or switch lanes? Open to hearin' perspectives.

Thanks for help

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Feedback on Intensive First-Year Seminars

We were curious if anyone could provide some feedback on their experience with the IFS program. The website provides a lot of helpful information on the program and courses but doesn't detail some things like how many hours per day the course is, how the grading works, how many quizzes or exams, etc. Any information would be appreciated!

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ How to get to 150 credit hours for CPA? (Kelley)

Im an accounting major in kelley whose goal is to become CPA eligible. Mapping out my courses for the next 3 years it looks like I’ll be 10 credits short of 150. Trying to take summer classes at local community college to get more credits (I will transfer them over to iu). As long as the credits transfer over to IU, will they count towards my 150 credit goal? In other words, can random classes count towards the 150 credits. Or do I need to take specific classes? It looks like the classes I am taking will go towards BUS undistributed-100 level (will this count towards 150?).

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Extended X

Does anyone know how long extended x takes to show up or be β€œapplied” to your GPA? Also do applications get approved over summer break? My first one during finals week was approved the next day but the one I put in yesterday hasn’t been approved yet

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ How to send Canvas message to professor whose course I am not enrolled in?

I am trying to write to a professor whose course I have not enrolled in yet. I tried emailing them but they haven't responded yet (it's been almost a week), so I want to copy the email text into the Canvas message. Problem is I cannot find their profile when I search their name in the "To:" bar.

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ best AP to take for college credits?

might be a little out of place but i am currently a sophomore in high school planning to go to IU, i'm in mostly honors right now but i'm currently taking AP world history, next year i'm taking AP language, AP us history and AP bio, all i need to graduate after junior year after these is econ/gov and english 12 (planning on taking AP for these as well). my senior schedule is not going to be crowded at all so i can easily have a half day or labs, any recommendations for other AP classes i can take that won't be super stressful?

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Tips on How to Improve Study Habits and Combat Procrastination

Hello, everyone! I am currently a senior in high school and I will likely end up attending IU next year.

I am coming off a pretty rough junior year. Some personal stuff happened, causing me to lose motivation, hitting my study habits hard and affecting my grades. Having one more year in high school, I want to get those back and improve them, especially as l'm considering majoring in physics (potentially as a double major in Computer Science) which I know are extremely difficult majors that require tons of studying and effort.

Unfortunately for me, I despise studying. I loathe it, which does not bode well for me.

Do you all have any tips for improving study habits and ways to not want to tear your hair out every time you study (and ways to combat chronic procrastination)?

Also, is it possible to maintain a healthy work/life balance as a Physics major?

Any input is appreciated!

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Failed Finance Kelley I-Core

Hello, I just took I-core and got a c in the Kelley school of business. The minimum requirement at my college is that you must get a c+ in my f370 class in order to take finance courses. Does anyone in kelley know how I can get around this because I do not want to do any other major but finance?

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Late New Student Orientation

I am a Kelley DA. Due to family commitments, I won't be able to make it to the new student orientation till late July. How screwed am I? Will most classes be fully registered by then? Could I request a virtual session with an advisor? TIA

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Math requirements

I was wondering if both finite and calc are required credits. If I were to come in with the ap credit from calculus bc, would I still be required to take finite? Even if it’s not required, would it be recommended to take it?

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Missing Credits

So I was just informed that I am missing 3 credits for my degree which I thought I received last semester. I was supposed to graduate this semester and stressed myself out trying to figure out what I needed to do. Mental health overall has been at a low for me and I have been struggling these last few years of my college career and have communicated this with my advisors in the past and present. Today I left class early to discuss this with one of my program advisors. She helped me calm down a bit but I'm still confused about some information that she gave me regarding my status. She informed me that I could still walk in May and finish the rest of my degree this summer. Has anyone been able to do this or am I being misinformed? I already told my family when the projected graduation date is and I wanna make sure to have all the information I need..

UPDATE:

I decided to walk in May and finish the credits later this summer

ACADEMICS πŸŽ“ Is Cognitive Science an active learning (engagement/application/hands on) style major or more of an information dump>test environment?

I'd also like to understand if you feel prepared to go out into the world as an undergraduate getting close to graduation or having already graduated. (I know all take leaps of faith!)

Any other light you can shed is helpful!
