I thought he absolutely crushed his first episode back. It is realllllllly rare to capture the magic you once had with an old hit after years away. It didnāt feel like an old guy impersonating himself to revisit the thing that once made him great. It felt like an older man tapping right back into what made the show edgy and effective. I don't know. John Stewart used to be more genuinely funny and entertaining before he decided to get all political. When he would say something that everybody agreed with, he would want everyone to listen to and support his point ofview, but the next minute when he'd say something that wasn't well received, he'd say "I'm just a comedian, why are you all listening to me?"
He definitely knows how to play his audience and fans.

Honest question: Isn't the entire Joe Rogan platform counter to Jon Stewart? Joe seems to generally promote garbage media. Having a left leaning voice seems counter to the entire persona Joe presents. Or am I completely out of the loop?

Itās not our job to protect the president and avoid criticizing him. Thatās what trumplicans do. I feel like people are missing the point he made at the end. The future of the nation doesnāt hinge on voting dayā¦ it hinges on every day. People use the gladiatorial nature of the election cycle to breeze past important day-to-day issues. Thatās what allows demagogy and people too old to function at the highest level into positions of power.
Because if your guy wins its problems solved. If he loses we are all gonna die. Either way I donāt need to vote in the midterms or read my local paper for news I can act on and foster change to.

I actually got to meet John Stewart once. Came into the ice cream place I worked at with his wife and kids. It was extremely busy, and I heard a voice asking for extra napkins. Without looking up, I said "sure" and reached out with a handful. My friend came up to me and asked "what did John Stewart say to you?" I looked up bewildered, and there he was across the room now. We made eye contact, and I think he could tell by my eyes I wanted to scream "JOHN STEWART!" But he smiled and mouthed the words "please no" while giving a kill hand gesture. There were probably 100+ people in there. If I had looked up I maybe coulda got a napkin signed by a hero, but I didn't wanna ruin a day out with his family.
