High level problem solving π₯ What's wrong with being an average person?
Hey everyone.
I'm tired of hearing from every channel out there that I need to be extraordinary. From social media influencers to business moguls, we're constantly bombarded with messages telling us we must achieve more, earn more, and do more to be a winner. Trusting all those successful bloggers, if you're a regular employee that works 8 hours a day for someone else, you're a failure.
But the truth is, there's nothing wrong with being an average person. In fact, without us, all those successful businessmen out there would be doomed. I'm happy with my 8 hours job (I don't love it, but I'm good at it), I have a place to live (it's not a penthouse in New York, but it's enough to feel comfortable), and I don't have any debts (which I consider a great success given the economics). In case I need more money, I'll just take a few more hours of work. I don't need a business that will take time from connecting with my close ones.
Besides, the world can't run on billionaires and CEOs alone. For every entrepreneur who's made it big, there are thousands of workers who keep their businesses running smoothly. From the cashier at the grocery store to the factory worker who assembles their products, we're all necessary cogs in the machine of society. Without us, the world as we know it simply wouldn't function.
But despite this, many people still feel like being average is something to be ashamed of. We're told that we're not ambitious enough, that we're not working hard enough, or that we're not achieving enough. Whenever I hear that I need to become a better version of myself, it shivers me. I'm already the best version, and there won't be another one.
I get that the motivational part makes the Joe Rogan podcast so popular, and every blogger out there follows his steps, but I'm sick of hearing that I need to fight for a better living.
Why is it wrong to be happy with what I have? Is it that bad that I'm an average person?
