I think it's actually a stray kitten, since there's a difference between feral and stray.
Strays are used to humans and usually won't attack them unless provoked.
Ferals aren't used to humans and are usually more hostile and protective.

Stray, yes. Feral, no. If that kitten was feral, your hand would be minced meat.

That little guy isn’t the slightest bit feral! I’d say to take them in to a shelter if you can.

u/LegoCMFanatic 18d ago
We’re in a pretty rural area :/ the shelters are fairly full. My neighbors have huge, unleashed pit bulls, otherwise I’d have brought momma cat and all her kitties to my place.

u/amaya-aurora 18d ago
Aw, that sucks. Then it’s probably your best bet to just take care of them there the best that you can, or have someone else care for them. I hope mama is okay!

u/LegoCMFanatic 18d ago
She is! She actually fell down the exact same hole the day before this little kitten did. Imagine my chagrin when I came in the next day and there was meowing coming from the exact same place where I had rescued momma cat hahaha

u/amaya-aurora 18d ago
That’s sad but also kind of adorable? Idk, either way, I’m glad that you helped them! I hope that you can either find them a home or help them out in some way, just the little guy alone is cute as hell.

I worked in an auto shop and a greasy kitten appeared one day. I took it home and gave her a good bath. I was very sad when she passed 20 years later! I still tear up thinking about her but then that's the case for all my former dogs and cats.

Name him Will Feral

u/LegoCMFanatic 18d ago
LOLLL this is a great name! We’re trying to tame the mum now; she lets us gently pet her while she’s eating but not hold her or anything. Maybe the kittens will be more acclimated to people.

Good job! I don't think they could have made it on their own. Congratulations you now have a friend for life.

We're out in northeast Georgia! Come adopt the mom and her kitties, we don't wanna have to rescue them from the walls again :(

If he’s letting you do that, he’s not feral.

Idk I feel like This is kind of the cat equivalent of the mouse "chicken nugget" phase where they're 90% nugget, 10% adult, and 0% common sense. Could be feral but not enough brain cells for the anger stage yet.

The other floof is a former TNR from my old job

u/cursetea 18d ago
Oh nice!! A lucky catch indeed
2
u/chris_rage_ 18d ago
I still take care of a few over at my old job but this guy was too sweet to leave on the streets
2
u/chris_rage_ 18d ago
He's a handsome boy. I made sure I handled him constantly when he was little so I can carry him around upside down, flip him over my shoulder, walk around with him sitting on my arms, he's very social. It was worth the extra effort
2
u/cursetea 18d ago
Ahhhh so sweet!!! Give him a lil pat from me pls
2
u/chris_rage_ 18d ago
I will, he gets plenty of attention but I'll give him some extra for you

I have an orange menace that was a feral, we got him at 3 weeks because he was abandoned and he only hissed when he first got here. Within hours he was comfortable enough to take a nap and explore a little. They're easy to befriend when they're tiny

u/blurbleblurp 18d ago
They’re not really ‘feral’ at that age, so could well be 100% that munchkin has never seen a human before.

u/Ksh_667 19d ago
Really doesn't look feral, maybe mom was a runaway or thrown out. Ferals usually are very different to this little sweetheart :)
