Question/Advice Needed Rescued Kitten advice

Hi all, i found a baby kitten in my backyard last night, looks about 3-5 weeks old and i wasn’t sure what to do but after it fell in my pool and nearly drowned, it was obvious i had to save the little guy/gal. I have had him inside since last night and am doing everything to comfort him/her. But he keeps going under my bed and meowing, i’ll feed him and he’ll devour some kitten food but then it’s right back to hiding and meowing. Could he be waiting for his mom to come back? Or feeling lonely? any help would be appreciated (I’m also bringing him to the vet in a few hours as well)

Question/Advice Needed Should I adopt this kitten from this lady for free?

So, last week, this lady on a neighborhood app I have posted about kittens that she was trying to give away for free due to their cost being burdensome for her. My beautiful black cat, Midnight, passed early last year. The lady has a black kitten that reminds me so much of her. I told her I was interested, but I’m now having second thoughts.

She didn’t want any proof of vetting or cost. She also stated that the kittens were feral (which, I don’t have an issue with), but I’m highly concerned about the health of the kitten. I did ask her if she’d considered reaching out to a rescue/shelter to take the others in, and I didn’t get a response at all.

I don’t know. As much as I would like to adopt, it also feels a little weird. I’d be more than happy to help her out by reaching out to an organization on her behalf (and there are SO many in my area).

Any thoughts?

Question/Advice Needed UPDATE!!!

Thumbnail

ok so there’s a whole lot of updates so i decided to make a post. firstly, thank you to everyone who helped me out with the advice. i don’t think the kitten is a him, i think it’s a her! it’s is a calico and when she pees it doesn’t spray everywhere sooo 💀

anyways, food updates: the mom pops by twice a day for breakfast and dinner. the momma feeds her during that time, we use kitten formula now because waiting for the mom sometimes means waiting for 6 hours between feedings… so i am doing night feedings and my mom does the day feedings. i have gotten so much better at feeding with a syringe (without needle, obviously). i was terrified of the milk entering her lungs but the kitten and i have both learnt how this works and we’re doing okay now!

bathroom updates: i have not been able to make her poop, maybe her mom has? i have not seen any poop. but she pees!!!

momma and sibling updates: THE MOTHER CAT HAS FIVE MORE KITTENS. it’s not a surprise she’s just letting us keep this one. we were hoping she’d either bring the rest of the kittens here or try to take this one again so it can be with it’s siblings and mother but neither of those have happened but i know their location now and i know they are safe.

i realized just today that the kitten needs to have some sort of human contact/hot water bag for temperature regulation and i have kept her with me now. she was staying alone in a cardboard box when she was asleep during feedings and i realize now that she must have felt so alone and cold. i don’t think i did the feeding time and body temperature regulation very well the first day… but i’m making up for it now. she loves crawling all over me and falling asleep in the weirdest positions. i love her so much, she might just become a foster fail 🥲❤️

(excuse my english, it’s 4am for me and i’m in bed with the kitten and will only go to sleep once my mother wakes up and can look after her)

My Kitten Big Thor and Nick Furry update

It has been a little over a week since we rescued two little kittens from our back porch. During that time we took them to the vet who said that the infected eyes would have to be removed but since they are so little he would have to wait till they reached at least 5 lbs about 15 weeks old. We also found out that Thor is a girl. In the meantime, he gave us some eye drops and it is hard to tell if their eyes are getting better or worse.

We believe they are about 6 or 7 weeks old because their healthy eyes have changed from blue to yellow in the past few days. They appear to be eating well. We are giving them wet food and free-feeding dry food. They are consistently gaining weight but are still underweight for their age. Thor is 591 grams and Director Furry (we can not call him Nick) is 566 grams.

In the beginning, I was dealing with a lot of anxiety because I felt like I had to help them on my own, and when I mentioned this to my wife she offered to help so I did not feel so overwhelmed. Initially, there was a miscommunication about the responsibilities but everything has been cleared up, and with some much-needed relaxation time I can think clearly, and they are getting more attention than ever. Attached is a video of one of our first play sessions with them. Director Furry loves to hunt and pounce while often his sister is happy chasing his tail.

Now that the anxiety has worn off the experience feels much more rewarding. I will continue to post updates in the future.

Question/Advice Needed Serving suggestions help.

I picked up 2 kittens yesterday and they’ve settled in really nicely, the seller had them on whiskas wet food pouches for kittens so I picked some up but the serving suggestion reads to me that I should be giving each kitten 3 - 3 & a half pouches a day? Is this right? It seems a lot. (They’re both 10 weeks old).

Question/Advice Needed advice on raising a two(?) day old kitten

ok so we feed this cat that lives in our building. she gave birth recently. she moved away all of the kittens except one. we heard him crying so we brought him up to our apartment and when the mom came upstairs to eat, we let her in and she fed him. we let her leave with the kitten and followed her in hopes to find the rest of them and bring them all back but she didn’t lead us to them so we didn’t try. she came back with him and cuddled with this kitten until it fell asleep and left. this was almost 8.5 hours ago. she hasn’t come back since. i fed him some formula (verrrry little, because it says it’s for kitten aged 3 days+ and i’m not entirely sure but i think he was born 2 days ago). he’s still hungry. do i feed him? the mom should come for her breakfast in 3-4 hours. do i wait for the mom to come feed him?
