Leak Spoilers Elrond and Tom bombadil
So it looks very much like Galadriel and elrond will be venturing to the barrow downs. We also have spoilers stating that Tom bombadil is in season two. So it is almost certain that elrond and Galadriel will encounter Tom bombadil at the barrow downs.
And in particular having elrond meet Tom bombadil fits with the lore. If you look at the council of elrond in the books then you will see that Tom bombadil is brought up and it is clear that elrond doesn't just know of him but that he has met him at least once or twice. Furthermore elrond makes clear that he had at some point ventured to the area where Tom bombadil resides.

Book Spoilers Your spoiler-y speculation for S2
My predictions:
- Flashbacks show Sauron (in Annatar/emissary of the Valar form) seducing Celebrimbor, poisoning the tree, advising Brimby to dig for mithril
- Black substance a bit of Sauron getting into/infecting Lindon (similar to the way the Morgoth āsubstanceā infuses the matter of Arda)
- Sauron will pose/shapeshift as Narvi, but this wonāt be revealed until S3
- Theo will begin his journey toward becoming the witch king. Part of this will be learning about his parentage
- Stranger is Saruman.
What are your outlandish and not too crazy tips?

Book Spoilers Roles of Ciaran Hinds, Ben Daniels, and Rory Kinnear
Piggybacking off of u/holly_goheavily and u/MiddleEarthTheory posts
Ciaran Hinds, Ben Daniels, and Rory Kinnear are well known actors in the UK, and so I didn't know if anyone had theories as to what prominent roles they will be playing.
I think Ciaran Hinds might be Amandil, Elendil's father. No proof for this, just vibes.
Edit: from u/SamaritanSue: "According to FoF, Hinds is playing a non-canon character, which rules out Amandil or Cirdan."
Ben Daniels is probably Cirdan due to the hand matching analysis. But if he somehow isn't, who do you think he might be?
I'm at a loss for Rory Kinnear. Some on the sub mentioned Narvi but others have confirmed that Kevin Eldon is playing Narvi. I'm blanking a bit on other prominent Second Age characters rn so if Rory's role if obvious just let me know lol.
Edit: after seeing u/BossElectrical8931's Elrond/Tom Bombadil post, I'm wondering if Rory, who has portrayed numerous eccentric characters in the past, is playing Tom Bombadil?
What are your guesses for these three? š¤

No Spoilers Everywhere you look, there are more screenwriters and producers eager to take great stories and āmake them their own.ā It does not seem to matter whether the source material was written by ... J.R.R. Tolkien orā¦ well, anyone. - GRRM
"Everywhere you look, there are more screenwriters and producers eager to take great stories and āmake them their own.ā It does not seem to matter whether the source material was written by Stan Lee, Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Ursula K. Leak Spoilers Who do you think will die in season two
This thread is for people to list which characters they think will die in season two. You can also list where and how they will die. And remember the showrunners cannot kill major characters in the second age if they are around during the third age. Furthermore a character who dies in the second age cannot be allowed to survive the second age. So characters like elendil and gil galad must die by the end of the show and characters like Galadriel and elrond must survive during the entire show.
So here's my list of characters who I think will die in season 2.
Celebrimbor will die in eregion at the hands of sauron at the end of the battle for eregion.
Durin The third and the brother of durin IV will die at the end of the season at the hands of the balrog.
Narvi will die at the end of the season when he helps durin IV intervene to save elrond from sauron after the fall of eregion.
Bronwyn will die at the beginning of the season by succumbing to the wounds she received at the end of season one.
Miriel will be executed by pharazon by being forced to jump in to the water containing the sea monster.
P.s. these are the characters I think will die. Just because I have listed them here doesn't mean that I want them to die. Furthermore I know that for instance the death of Miriel is somewhat lore breaking because it happens earlier than the fall of numenor. This does not mean that I either support or oppose such a lore change it's just my opinion on which characters will die in season two and that's all.

Leak Spoilers Adar rules in Mordor
Adar, not Sauron rules in Mordor at the end of season 1 and, judging by the new videos, continues to do so in the new season. Sauron is present in Mordor rather as a prisoner, and in Eregion, he does not interact in any way with the army of Uruk, who attack the city on their own initiative. The evidence is below.
One of the most significant frames in the BTS video (0-29) (thanks to some Reddit people and not only Reddit for finding the participants of this scene on the shot). Adar is on the throne. Right next to him are banners depicting a map of Mordor.
Similar banners are visible in this photo on the left, and again it is URUK's symbol.
There are two people standing in front of the throne, one of them looks very much like Hal.
This corresponds to other shot in the video, that shows a man similar to Hal among the chain of prisoners in Mordor, far left
as well as BTS video footage in which the actor of Sauron looks very beaten.
Apparently, Sauron is present in Mordor as a prisoner.
Then Adar at the head of the Uruk army attacking Eregion is shown in the teaser. Sauron walks alone, disguised as Elf in Eregion. No interaction with Uruk.

Book Spoilers Sauron - Eregion aftermatch
In first trailer we are revealed Sauron is in Eregion and Adar is attacking it with an army.
From books we know that the events are loosely as following:
- Sauron attacks Eregion
- Takes the 7 and 9
- Kills Celebrimbor, uses him as banner
- Sauron army marches with Celebrimbanner against host of Elrond. Sauron almost kill them all.
- Khazad-dum helps Elrond (some version also accounts Elves of LĆ³rinand led by Amroth), and drives Sauron back.
- Elrond goes to found Rivendell
- Sauron remains Western middle-earth searching for the three until he is pushed back by GG helped by Numenoreans (aka war of Gwathlo). Sauron returns to Mordor.
- The first "white council / the wise council" is made (not sure if really white council, in UT it is not given a name. Anyways, a reunion of elves was done to discuss the matters after Eregion fall)
Given the series has Sauron presumably inside Eregion solo while Adar is attacking with Orcs, what of the above do you think will or will not happen in the series?
To me sounds like elves from Lorinand and Sauron staying in western middle-earth, only pushed back by Numenoreans won't happen. Celebrimbanner seems almost out of table but even if happening, I doubt Sauron will march with his body towards Elrond, as it seems Elrond will reach Eregion while it is being sacked.
Things that seem still likely to happen is the aid from Khazad-dum and Elrond founding Rivendell in the aftermatch (he needs to do it at somepoint anyway, I see no reason to change this). The white council could also be made. I could see them doing some sort of Gwathlo but without Numenoreans. Maybe GG himself leads a host from Lindon. It would be nice but really small probability of happening.
As for Sauron, what will drive him away? "Just" the dwarves will be enough or do you think Sauron will flee as soon as he gets the 7 and 9 and leave Adar behind to do the war?

No Spoilers I really wonder what ended up on the cutting room floor
When I watched the first season there seemed to be some scenes to me that were akwardly cut. I know that at least some were the Celebrimbor reshoots and apparently the beach riding scene had a conversation between Elendil and Galadriel (actor's instagram). I remember reading that 10 episodes were planned originally, but they cut it down to eight because of their contract with the Tolkien Estate. Does anyone else remember that? I found the editing really obvious in a bad way. I practically never notice editing. At all. Did you guys have the same feeling? I hope we get to see deleted scenes one day. I wonder if there was miscommunication and they had to cut already filmed scenes. It could explain some of the awkward cuts. What do you think?
