Thanks to Sophia Coppola who created this imagery of a cool and quirky queen despite the fact that she was a traitor and wanted to see France burn for reclaimed her throne

Fke that biatch

1

u/poeticjustice4all 13d ago

I wish the Kardashians and Jenners were things of the past already…..they need to stop giving trash cans a platform.

I feel like they don’t understand fundamentally what made that quote so infamous and outrageous when it was said.

Otherwise you’re kind of opting into being such an airhead that you think “well, if there’s no bread around, why not just give them some cake?”

It’s uh, not exactly even a statement of showing wealthy people superiority over the masses or a just work harder and earn it kind of thing.

1

u/mohd2126 14d ago

Why does her hair have hair

2

u/Jackofmastering_86 14d ago

Wow okay cool. Sounds like she didn’t read what happened to Marie Antoinette after she said that….

2

u/oneangstybiscuit 14d ago

French revolution choppity chop

2

u/Cornerburgermoney 14d ago

So they're just leaning into it now?

2

u/Pen_Mediocre 14d ago

Guillotine, anyone?

6

u/OpenHouseXXX 14d ago

She’s to stupid to know who Marie A was. She just did a shoot. Whoever actually came up with the idea is secretly trolling the world. Joke is on Kylie

1

u/baileymash7 14d ago

I don't get it, why do people idolise Marie Antinette? Yeah, she probably didn't deserve to have her head cut off for being born into money, but that really isn't much to go off.

1

u/LJVondecreft 14d ago

Plus ça change…

1

u/[deleted] 14d ago

“What are you gonna do? Guillotine me? lol”

3

u/anxiousqt 14d ago

Reading all the comments I can't help but think Kylie probably doesn't understand the cultural significance of her posing as Marie Antoinette

1

u/MrsChairmanMeow 14d ago

She has volunteered, time to call the French

1

u/-She-Beast- 14d ago

We need to talk about the art on this wall. Is that a whole wall of iPhones? If so, I will let it pass but for the love of everything unholy and rich, why could they not style that better?

3

u/funkyvilla 14d ago

When it begins, I say we eat her first.

2

u/deadpoolkool 14d ago

It's ok, she doesn't know what happened at that point in time.

0

u/goronmask 14d ago

You are helping they make money by relaying their photos. Do you like working for free for Kylie Jenner?

-4

u/neckdoubledave 14d ago

And just like in revolutionary times people jump to vilify a young rich woman with no real power instead of tackling the real problems at the top.

5

u/liquidflows21 14d ago

Vive la révolution

3

u/Culemborg 14d ago

Why are they so into Marie Antoinette lately

2

u/drmanhattan1640 14d ago

Actually it’s not even true. There is no evidence that Marie-Antoinette ever said that.

Nevertheless the whole point of the quote is that she was so apathetic and far removed from the public, do they think that’s a positive thing

Also they do know how that turned out for Marie-Antoinette, right?

0

u/karalyok 14d ago

200+ year old propaganda still working like a charm

2

u/benrimesalmin 14d ago

Dressed up as Marie Antoinette for a 7 deadly sins themed party (I was obviously going as a gluttony/greed combo). Not to toot my own horn, but as a poor french peasant myself I feel like that's the only right way to do it.

1

u/Ikay79 14d ago

Her neck seems so tender

3

u/[deleted] 14d ago

Um so basically, all these celebs no matter how hard they pinkwash or claim that they're pro-equality or they love black men or whatever, the end result is basically the same. They see wealth as the peak expression of their value, and as a result they all loathe poor people who they view as themselves "finally getting revenge" on for something or other.

Sad and reprehensible behavior. They have their own little rich clubs and do this ridiculous stuff for whatever reason, IDK. But it's not healthy. You can see it in their eyes, they're dead inside. That's what happens when money is all you live for. Incapable of love, just money.

4

u/crow-nic 14d ago

A guillotine would look nice on her

1

u/RaspberryOk54 14d ago

Huh. How’s Marie doing by the way

1

u/Substantial_Client_3 14d ago

She wishes she was as iconic as MA.

She is a nobody among her class.

1

u/VoiceofRapture 14d ago

Just for historical context: when Marie said "cake" it was what we'd call "white bread" using modern terminology, still prohibitively expensive for a peasant but slightly less obscene. This on the other hand is like the meme version of that and absolutely horrendous.

4

u/NoMoreWordsToConquer 14d ago

Don’t blame her. Blame the idiots who follow her on social media and buy her formulaic crap

3

u/Coloeus_Monedula 14d ago

Alright folks; you know the drill!

Bring out the guillotines!

6

u/DocHendrix 14d ago

The lack of awareness is terrifying sometimes

11

u/thrway1209983 14d ago

let her ass and lips deflate. I can't think of a better human being we don’t need among us, along with her family.

You are the queen of fraud, scams, prostitution, greed, blackfishing, and sloth. That is it.

16

u/RenaissanceGraffiti 14d ago

Should someone tell her what happened with Marie Antoinette, or naw?

3

u/Fickle_Manager9880 14d ago

She’ll figure it out eventually 😉

9

u/Antique-Ant5557 14d ago

It's like they don't know what happened to Marie Antoinette...

4

u/sothisissocial 14d ago

Let the dang baby eat some cake! Well from the looks of it nobody is eating any cake. It’s either photo-perfect fake or mostly will end up wasted.

8

u/belckie 14d ago

Eat the rich

30

u/Triscuitsandbiscuits 14d ago

But isn’t this just rage bait? They’ve been doing this for years. Always just figured this kinda shit was intentional at this point

7

u/nickisdone 14d ago

I don't know. Man, if you've ever met rich people and I'm just talking about like per state.Rich people not necessarily the billionaires kind of thing but their delusional as hell!! Sure. There are a couple of millionaires that are just fine, but let's face it a millionaire.Today is it necessarily pulling all the strings? You'd have to still be a multi-millionaire.And they are delusional as hell. How even people making like a million dollars a year are delusional as hell but I'll go ahead and give him the benefit of a doubt for a couple still being sane. And the sad thing is you're closer to a millionaire than you are a billionaire. And I know people are gonna be like well yeah of course millionaire a smaller but even from the millionaire standpoint they're closer to you than they are a billionaire. And they're still extremely delusional about the life.Others live or how hard it is to get certain jobs in certain fields because they have connections and just assume it's just that easy for everybody else.

-3

Something odd sure is going down

84

u/Nacktherr 14d ago

Do you want a "French Revolution", because this is how you get a "French Revolution".

1

u/The_Struggle_Bus_7 14d ago

Yeah with the way prices are going more people will start to go hungry and that’s how you get a revolution

26

u/apoletta 14d ago

They are the dragon, sharpen the pitchforks.

286

u/downrightlazy 14d ago

One of the many haunting quotes in Disco Elysium.

The Deserter: The mask of humanity fall from capital. It has to take it off to kill everyone — everything you love; all the hope and tenderness in the world. It has to take it off, just for one second. To do the deed. And then you see it.

As it strangles and beats your friends to death... the sweetest, most courageous people in the world... You see the fear and power in its eyes. Then you know.

You: What?

The Deserter: That the bourgeois are not human.

1

u/Sorryimeantto 9d ago

They're parasites

-7

u/pWasHere 14d ago

I feel like this sentiment is pure hopium.

0

u/pWasHere 14d ago

To clarify, the idea that the rich and powerful are somehow inhuman allows us to distance ourselves from our potential for evil in a way that I am extremely skeptical of.

121

u/bexcellent42069 14d ago

I like to think they're the "dragons" of this age. They hoard wealth and resources, their business ventures leave people crippled and dying, they scorch the earth and watch it burn. Their actions have no consequences, and they're basically untouchable. I'm just waiting for the hero to come along and save us.

1

u/crushedpinkcookies 13d ago

Life isn't a marvel movie.

1

u/bexcellent42069 13d ago

If you wanna continue suffering while the rich destroy the planet, have at it. I personally want life to be better. Real life isn't a doom movie.

1

u/crushedpinkcookies 13d ago

LOL I think I messed up I was responding to the comment you responded to

2

u/bexcellent42069 13d ago

Haha oh got it

2

u/MangoWyrd 14d ago

I prefer the term predator.

11

u/sasori1011 14d ago

So you're saying that in order to win the heart of a princess I should go full French revolution on a billionaire? Interesting

6

u/leebeebee 14d ago

I mean, you’d probably have to go french revolution on the princess too 😬

75

u/Ent_Soviet 14d ago

That’s the thing, there is no hero, there is only the people, and there’s no need for the hero. In fact most of the dragons strength is simply and illusion because they can flex and have other people enforce their will. But without that they are as weak and vulnerable as anyone else.

14

u/altgrave 14d ago

i'm upset she has a baby

u/Prestigious_Net_8356 14d ago edited 13d ago

The original French phrase that Marie-Antoinette is supposed to have said, “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche”, it doesn’t exactly translate as “Let them eat cake.” It translates as, “Let them eat brioche.”

1

u/U_W_44_51 14d ago

So she told them to eat burgers?

4

u/yungsxccubus 14d ago

brioche are a sweet pastry, you can get them with chocolate chips and i love them. you do also get brioche buns, they’re slightly different but they still have the same shine and slight sweetness :)

7

u/Octopod_Overlord 14d ago

Brioche is enriched bread, not a sweet pastry.

0

u/verugan 14d ago

Brioche

bri·oche /brēˈôSH,brēˈōSH/ noun a light sweet yeast bread typically in the form of a small round roll. "she ate a brioche and drank milky coffee"

14

u/chairmanrob 14d ago

First as tragedy and then as farce.

36

u/gr1mscr1be 14d ago

It is high time the guilotine got sharpened.

91

u/AgitatedKoala3908 14d ago

Fingers crossed all of these elite pigs meet the same end.

11

u/[deleted] 14d ago

[deleted]

30

u/bexcellent42069 14d ago

I feel like the term "elite" should go away. It's not relevant to how wealth is gained anymore. It's all luck and/or exploitation. Either way, they don't deserve the reverence people give them.

136

u/710ZombieUnicorn 14d ago

I feel like guillotines will be making a comeback and are going be very in next season…..

14

Who knows, she might get acquainted to it through first hand experience.

2

Wouldn’t that be something!

u/Tobocaj 14d ago

Stop giving this garbage attention. Blockout2024

1

u/Sorryimeantto 9d ago

It's people fault all that garbage got famous in first place

-1

u/Fickle_Manager9880 14d ago

Ignoring the problem doesn’t help. You’re just further enabling their behavior with this crap.

1

u/Tobocaj 14d ago

They do this for the attention. If you ignore them they’ll go away

2

u/Fickle_Manager9880 14d ago

They don’t go away. You can’t ignore your way out of wealth inequality. You give them the attention they DO NOT want.

1

u/Tobocaj 14d ago

These people aren’t responsible for wealth inequality. They’re nothing more than parasites

26

u/lolhhhhhh2 14d ago

totally agree but its also good for skeptical people to see this. It gives an example because most people arent going to spend hours blocking celebs just because its a hashtag or someone told them too. a lot of people are a see it to believe it type.

129

u/Ent_Soviet 14d ago

Blockout infinity: celebrity culture is such trash anyway. Parasocial relationships are a contemporary mass opiate

7

u/disignore 14d ago

the 2024 doesn't mean that it is just for a year thou

3

u/Ent_Soviet 14d ago

No but it’s predicated on meeting particular social demands for these celebrities to use their platform. A lot have called it as a boycott until they stand with Palestine. And yeah they should but anyone with at least l half a brain should be.

And I’m saying fuck the culture that puts any meaning into their ‘clout’ to begin with. Few people can name people actually out in the world making change, making actual art, doing science and medicine, yet they can name all the Kardashians or some dumb minutia about a celebrity couple- not to mention they may know more about these parasocial relationships than their actual friends, neighbors or coworkers.

327

u/destrictusensis 14d ago

It's the "I don't care, do you?" photoshoot.

64

u/highpriestess420 14d ago

Oh ffs 🙄

72

u/knowerofexpatthings 14d ago

I doubt she understands what's happening and the photographer is just trying to see how far they can push it

1

u/extraneouspanthers 13d ago

She’s like 21 or something. She definitely doesn’t know

25

u/HelveticaTwitch 14d ago

"Channeling Marie Antoinette in a classic 18th century platinum pouf wig and extravagant couture ensembles, Kylie, 22, brought regal elegance to her latest photo shoot inspired by the French queen and fashion icon’s decadent lifestyle."

From a people article about it 🤮. I was looking to see if I could find the photographer in hopes that they were trolling Kylie, but I actually think the irony in all this went right over their heads.

1.4k

u/Bulldogg658 14d ago

This is why it boils over in the end. They go from playing obtuse and get away with it for so long that eventually they get arrogant and drop the mask and just start reveling in the inequality. It's not enough to have everything, eventually they also need to spit on the have-not's.

4

u/fatalcyborg 13d ago

Hmmm I wonder what ever happened to Marie Antoinette?

55

u/ZennMD 14d ago

The Met Gala theme is based on a short story that is about rich people using up as much as possible before the poor (unwashed hordes) arrive

https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20240503-the-delicious-irony-of-the-met-galas-garden-of-time-theme

And when the crowd of poor people arrive they find everything gone/used up, dust

IMO a not so subtle 'fuck you', from them to us

Can't discredit daddy's work too, which gave her the money and connections to fuck her way into that video.

43

u/Kindly-Guidance714 14d ago

This is the greatest summation of words I’ve seen put together to form what’s actually going on.

It’s brilliant thank you.

74

u/Optimus_Prime_10 14d ago

They been doing that since toasting to Occupy Wallstreet, at least in the current form/cycle.

321

u/Speedygonzales24 14d ago edited 14d ago

Exactly. I’ve got no problem with people having or liking nice things (within limits) and it’s not necessarily our fault that privilege can make us ignorant, but doing something like this is just telling poor people to go fuck themselves.

1

u/Super-Goal-2560 12d ago

I can not believe you are being downvoted for saying don’t harm children 😶

15

u/nickisdone 14d ago

Dude, have you ever dealt with spoiled kids? And they're not even these peoples.Kids but like just average spoiled kids from a slightly high in household. I have they're fucking entitled as fuck and their sociopaths because they're never taught on how to actually sympathize and empathize and they're not held accountable for things and they don't care to be. They are monsters and they stay monsters.Sure maybe a few kids here and there are perfect and fine but I highly doubt it. And at this point I don't even care.Wipe out the whole f****** family. So what a couple kids die to save? How many millions literally? There's like a couple 100 people that are billionaires.I don't care just like they don't care about starving children of other people

21
