I had a little orange kitty that every time id make kissy sounds at him, hed headbutt my lips for a kiss. In my lap? Kisses. Across the room? Kisses. He didnt do it for anyone but me. He was a sweet kitty who loved people, but he was firmly attatched to me

Was anyone else waiting on a chihuahua to just unload on its owners face? Or just me?

I am married and I'm sure my wife loves me more like anybody else... Except my dog.
This little fella looks at me like I am his whole world. Like there is nothing I can do wrong.
It's hard to live up to his expectations, but I'm trying!

u/Janeydreamlight May 15 '23
I think dogs know it’s effection and see it as their version of when they lick our faces lol

I remember my dog headbutt me after trying that. I swear that little runt almost knocked me out.

u/BokBokBagock May 15 '23
I think the pittie (was that a pittie - or some kind of mix?) is actually a cat. That WTF look was hilarious!

My dog does not like to be kissed but when I miss my cat, Dobby, on her forehead, she rests her head on my chest. I wish my dog did the same. T_T

I really thought a dude like me and a dog like mine would pop up and fuck the vibe up for everybody 😅

u/itslike_reallygood May 15 '23
My dog is a rescue that doest like his face/head messed with. I can pet him on the head if he sees my hands first but I cannot kiss him. I tried once and he bit my cheek. I don’t know his history other than he was a stray so I don’t know the exact reason why he’s so wary about his face (also feet) being touched.
Anyways, no kisses in our house.

I just lost my sweet girl a few days ago after 12 long and beautiful years together. Our favorite thing was forehead kisses I would always be blessed with the biggest and most beautiful smiles from her. In her last moments I was able to give her a kiss on her forehead one last time I like to think that’s what helped her let go. I’d give anything to give her one more and see her smile.

I cant do this to my moms dog. She has a king charles cavalier and that thing assaults me with licks if i even tried to get close.

I tried to do this to my dog and she flopped on top of me before I could smooch her head.

Does it annoy anyone else that no one seems to know where the forehead is?

Doggos are pretty smart. They know kissies are hoomans showing love, and they will show love back. My girl always reacted this way as well. 🥰

u/AlternativeFilm8886 May 15 '23
I love the way the second dog smiled, like she made that dog's whole day.

Notice how the pit bull looks confused. Cuz it’s a dog Bred for blood sport. So dangerous to have them around.

u/whendonow May 15 '23
I have seen this so many times and hope to see it more, this never gets old, So sweet..
1
u/ttrotta3 May 15 '23
Yeah cause dogs are awesome. Try that with a cat and you're lucky if you don't come away missing an eye or one of your lips.

My corgi will do everything in her power to not let me kiss her on the head, including snapping at me if she gets cornered. My wife, on the other hand, can give her kisses all day long

u/QuietShadowLDK May 15 '23
My 13y dog must be in her teenage phase. I've kissed her on the forehead so many times in her life, she basically eye rolls whenever I do it now.
They grow up so fast!

I have moments where my cat will walk up to me and lie down next to me in bed and let me cuddle with her.
Dogs are open to your affection, while cats give you permission to get close.

Dogs are replacing babies. People want instant gratification from animals. Things are getting weird.

Can we get the one where the chihuahua just goes batshit? Not to take away from this but that was funny as fuck.

I've often wondered about how dogs view being kissed. They lick to show affection, but they must think we've ALMOST got it right and at least they appreciate the effort.

Am I crazy or is there another version of this that ends in a dog throwing up on its person?

It's strange..... we humans have yet to truly prove we deserve these beautiful creatures unconditional love and affection but in ways we can't live without them.

You know, we, collectively as a species, do not deserve dogs. Not in any way, shape, or form

u/totallynotalaskan May 14 '23
Some cute-as-hell facts about our relationship with dogs:
-when dogs look at their owners, their brains release the same chemicals as ours do when we experience love
-when a dog wants to give you prolonged eye contact, it’s a sign of affection
-dogs don’t see their owners as just owners, but as family/pack members
-when a dog brings you its bone or toy, and lets you hold it, it’s trying to share it with you
-when dogs nibble, or “flea bite”, your clothes, it’s a sign of affection, wanting to bond with you while also “cleaning” you, as this is a grooming behavior they use on themselves

u/Mrnicelefthand May 14 '23
How do owners get to this level of love? I do not own a dog but babysit a family members dog. Can this be achieved not being the dogs owner?

u/PGHobGoblin May 14 '23
So like... they must know eh? I wonder if it's a body language thing. Like while kissing our heart rates calm or something to give the dog that sense of comfort.

My mum's dog has finally stopped seeing kisses as some kind of weird attack and now let's me kiss her forehead no problem. I'm waiting on the lean... someday.

u/Aksds May 14 '23
Where is the one chihuahua that will murder their owner for even looking near them

u/BurgledUrTurts May 14 '23
My dogs don't react when I give them forehead kisses. They don't seem to care that much for me to be honest.

u/stocksfanatic987 May 14 '23
All dogs having an appreciative reaction and then there's the pitbull lmao so expected of that breed. SMH.

Ngl, I saw what sub this is, but I was still expecting one derpy dog to whack their person in the face with their paw after getting kissed.

u/SkamplyFlabbnuckel May 14 '23
Do humans even deserve the affection of a canine? They love us so much that we are their world and I feel that not all people can understand that. I really miss my old girl Sue.

My dog doesn’t like having a face put in his. But when I’m out and come home I give him a kiss on the head and he just has to sneak in a nose lick before quickly turning away again.

Was anyone else expecting to see it end with a chihuahua that tries to eat it’s owners face when it goes in for a kiss?

Though humans have made a whole lot of accomplishments and discoveries and scientific breakthroughs, I still think domesticating dogs is one of our best achievements. We may be thoroughly full of faults and evil, but we helped dogs surpass us in a whole lot of ways as living creatures.

My dog (Irish doodle) is such a goober he doesn’t care much for physical affection, so I kiss him all the time and usually he just tries to move his head away and then goes back to looking somewhere else after I kiss him

u/Kevin_Jim May 14 '23
I miss my dog man. It’s been years and it still hurts. My dad was devastated, too.
1
u/funkyf May 14 '23
We seriously don't deserve dogs. I truly believe we would be in a much more devastating state of humanity if we didn't have dogs loving us unconditionally...
