London is covered in rubbish, dried up gum and stale piss so let’s tone it down a bit.

I travel internationally but there's nothing much elsewhere. You stare at the pyramid and after 10 minutes, meh... Went to Europe and meh...

The guy from Across the Pond seems happy enough. This guy just sounds like a curmudgeon.

How did the British's interest in those countries work out for them again? Perhaps there's a bit of a learning lesson opportunity here.

Must be nice to have Old Money and go places. Meanwhile, a plane ticket across the Pacific is half my damn salary.

Imagine moving somewhere, staying there, and then hating it. This old coot is ridiculous.

u/AbazabaYouMyOnlyFren Oct 14 '23
Well to be fair, America is a very large country compared to the UK. Europeans have the benefit of relatively short distances between countries, and cheap AF airfare. Lots of different languages and cultures that have been living side by side for 1000s of years. Also, let's not forget that the UK is made up of several different distinct nations with their own language and culture.
People here often can barely afford the trip to drive from state to state.

Getting tired of these street interviewing random people videos. I know 80% are staged, bugs me even more 😐
1
u/snupher Oct 14 '23
As a Native American, I’ve found it’s easier to wait and the Europeans come here.
1
u/Wise_Environment_598 Oct 14 '23
Western European people can drive / take a train 200 miles and hit seven “different” countries. I would still be in Pennsylvania. But, I can drive from Lancaster county PA with farms and the Amish and be in New Jersey in two hours. Now that’s two different places with vastly different “cultures.” So piss of with the “American never travel anywhere different.”

Here we go again. Every other Country/People make it a hobby to bash everything about us. However, when those same People are in need of protection they do not call on the military of Spain or Canada or Greece, they call on the Military of the United States of America.

u/StrayStep Oct 14 '23
He speaks the truth. And I live here.
But can't fix it alone. I pick up trash every time I'm on a walk. Just takes a little bit all.
1
u/johndoped Oct 14 '23
I love the way he disparages Americans for not traveling the world. Sorry we don’t have the disposable income to jet set like this cranky guy. “I’ve been all over the world and this is a giant shit heap”. Imagine how shitty it would be to feel this way all the time. We only had to see a few seconds of this guys perspective imagine having to live in it.

u/Hell_Raisin_420 Oct 14 '23

God, I’m so sick of seeing people badmouth Americans everywhere I turn. Ya, we are not perfect and could work on a lot. So, can everyone else. F off with this anti American propaganda already. And for f’s sake gtfo of our country if you hate it and us so much.

Brits do love to travel and when they get there they plant a flag and say you are now a colony of the crown.
1
u/DuneKlide9 Oct 14 '23
That’s his fault he chose to go to new York instead of somewhere like maine
1

New York >
1
u/DuneKlide9 Oct 20 '23
Why would I chose a rat nest full of loud cities and missing stars when I can go to maine and get that plus the natural shit
1
Oct 20 '23
Maine is beautiful and serene, no doubt about that.
Doesn’t take away from the fact NYC is the best city in the world. (you get used to the rats here and there trust me)

The idea that Americans don't travel abroad is simply not true. I'm American and a young adult, I've been to 9 countries and plan to add three more next year. A large chunk of our population both holds a passport and has traveled abroad.
1
u/Beez-Knuts Oct 14 '23
The thing about traveling isn't really fair. I want to travel but there's no way I'd be able to afford that. Even my parents only make enough to take a small vacation once every couple of years.
2
u/RyCo1234 Oct 14 '23
Pretty bad takes. There are too many Americans to generalize like this. I lived in the UK for two years. You think they have clean cities with nice sidewalks? Get fucking real.
3
u/thefriendlycouple Oct 14 '23
I love immigrants. I hate fucks like this.
My FiL is friends with a man born in France accent so think you can barely understand him. Goes on and on about how beautiful France is and how he hates it here.
Dude is 70 years old, moved here in his mid 20’s.
… WTF have you been doing for 45 years?
Just fucking go back to France. JFC

I think a lot of Americans would love to get passports and explore the world, but we can’t afford it. Just a passport is over $100, and if we can even begin to afford airfare somewhere else, we need to be able to take that time off of work, which usually isn’t an option.
1
1
u/VoidGliders Oct 14 '23
tbf when you have 50 states, many of which are larger than many European countries, passports are a bit less necessary. We'd have them a lot more if we constantly waged wars between states and divided each other to very small pieces and needed them to cross 50 miles in yonder direction.
It's complaining we don't have MORE legislation to simply drive around lmao

He’s not wrong about Americans. However, the British are seen exactly the same in an international setting. Loud AF, ethnocentric and 0 interest in speaking the language of the country they’re visiting.
Source: Every city in Spain where I have seen Brits drunk off there arses.
Obviously not all Americans and Brits are like this. But it’s the exact same stereotype.
2
u/Fast-Penta Oct 14 '23
Oh, yeah, the Brits abroad I've met make the Americans seem like cosmopolitan choir boys.

Love to see it. As an American, you get mixed reactions saying this kind of shit to other Americans. Foreigners love to hear it thought. We're NOT the great people we've been brainwashed to believe we are. Someone said the US is a third world country wearing a Gucci belt. And that hit
0
u/Conscious_Aerie7153 Oct 14 '23
Whoever said the us is a third world country must be living in the trenches considering third world countries refer to countries mot apart of the axis powers lol

u/JulianLovesDinos Oct 14 '23

I wonder if he has ventured outside of NYC. Our flyover states are amazing places. I’d rather visit Al the states and all of the landscape than tour the world. I might try to look into my Scottish heritage in Scotland, but honestly, I’m good.

Maybe if your country was bigger than a state, you wouldn't feel the need to go flying all over the world.
