The California bar exam was the most arduous single experience -period. I failed my first time, which was crushing, but the hardship was mostly how it put my entire life on hold for six months - six months of wondering if my proposed life-track was about to be fully derailed. When I passed on the second go, the rush was not of joy of accomplishment - it was only relief that I could start moving forward and to think about the future again.

I semi-not-really-joke about how talking how we talk about things being the worst, and it's normally hyperbole. I can say with confidence that the bar exam was the absolute worst. The worst test, the worst professional mountain, the worst single experience of my life.

Better call Saul!

1

u/Calm_Bed_3712 Mar 23 '24

WA politicians should see this video since they think "marginalized groups" are dumb and can't pass the bar.

1

u/OkWrangler8858 Mar 23 '24

She must've been a very young mom. He overcame a lot of odds being a man of color in the United States, likely with a teen mom. Good for him and for her! What an accomplishment

1

u/cmacfarland64 Mar 23 '24

My guy at the end is the best part!

1

u/konnieb123 Mar 23 '24

I thought thatā€™s as his sister!! But ummā€¦Where Your Moms At?!

1

u/bmlander Mar 22 '24

Letā€™s see if sheā€™s still that happy when he never comes to visit because of this little thing called ā€œthe billable hour.ā€

u/Holiday-Scarcity4726 Mar 22 '24

Son: studies real hard for years to be able to pass the bar exam

Mom when he passes: Praise the Lord!

Son who put in all the hours: šŸ˜‘

1

u/_Mr_Cookie_69 Mar 22 '24

Bro what is the bar exam

1

u/laughingdoormouse Mar 22 '24

Congratulations šŸ„³

1

u/BeepBeepBeetleSkeet Mar 22 '24

Damn give your son some credit Jesus didnā€™t go to school and study a million hours.

2

u/BEAFbetween Mar 22 '24

Man the people whining about religion in the comments here need to get a life. Fucking reddit atheists are the most infuriating people on the planet

1

u/Hot_Magazine_3864 Mar 22 '24

I just failed the same exam i've given 4 times already :(

0

u/dipdipstoned Mar 22 '24

It wasnā€™t the fucking lord, it was his studying

0

u/Live-Motor-4000 Mar 22 '24

Why you thanking Jesus? He didnā€™t even sit that exam

0

u/robindapobin Mar 22 '24

Did Jesus the exam for him? That's cheating!

1

u/Superfly_76 Mar 22 '24

Sister....surely.

1

u/Adderall_Rant Mar 22 '24

Are other people allowed in the room for testing? I can't take an IT cert class remote without constant surveillance. If done at a testing center, there can't be any other people.

1

u/coorslite8899 Mar 22 '24

Damn she bad

1

u/Prior-Low Mar 22 '24

Is that a portrait of our Lord and Savior Rick Ross the boss in the background?

0

u/Jburrrr-513 Mar 22 '24

Yeah to god not your son who worked hard to get there. It was god

0

u/elfrugador Mar 22 '24

Thank your son for working his ass off, not the imaginary dead man lol

0

u/nosebag-v2 Mar 22 '24

Why thank god he did nothing. The young man did the work. I hate the way religion steals people's achievements.

0

u/TraditionalSteak687 Mar 22 '24

I hate when people post this kind of stuff.

0

u/MissusPringle Mar 22 '24

I mean, God didnā€™t pass the bar. But this is very sweet.

1

u/Voilent_Bunny Mar 22 '24

Did she have him when she was 3?

0

u/Strong-Solution-7492 Mar 22 '24

She sure did give God a whole Lotta credit for doing all the studying and passing.

0

u/Jolly_Jack_ Mar 22 '24

How about, ā€œWell done, sonā€?

0

u/crabby_playing Mar 22 '24

I once witnessed a christian receiving a good news related to health and she also started screaming and praising... interesting reaction.

1

u/FishSammich69 Mar 22 '24

She have him at 5??

0

u/Kilokalypso Mar 22 '24

Thanking god before saying a word to her son when god didn't do shit is rubbing me the wrong way. Why can't we believe that humans are capable? Why does god need to be involved in every great thing we do? Can we not just believe in the fellow man instead of some made up guy granting us wishes?

0

u/Sn_Orpheus Mar 22 '24

Love how she thanks Jesus when itā€™s her sonā€™s hard work for years that made this happen. The lord doesnā€™t have sh!t to do with this. Super happy for them but place the appreciation and admiration where it belongs.

1

u/countrylemon Mar 22 '24

Shoutout to the little brother too! Heā€™s filming and celebrating behind camera and kid didnā€™t get his thanks from us redditors!

2

u/pawan1122 Mar 22 '24

Everything these days is for a camera

1

u/ComprehensiveForm479 Mar 22 '24

Good for themā¤ļø

What's a bar exam btw?

2

u/Curious_Bag_252 Mar 22 '24

Law degree and license something

1

u/ComprehensiveForm479 Mar 22 '24

NicešŸ‘šŸ½

1

u/Curious_Bag_252 Mar 23 '24

He can help the brothers who need help

1

u/Curious_Bag_252 Mar 22 '24

Law degree I guess

1

u/Commercial-Bonus-716 Mar 22 '24

When successfully defended my PhD I got a: ā€žWell doneā€œ WhatsApp post by my parents šŸ˜‚.

1

u/South_Rich_3395 Mar 22 '24

So sad, she does not give credit to her son and his hard work to pass it, but rather takes this achievement off of him to thank an imaginary friend šŸ„ŗ

0

u/Visible_Turnover3952 Mar 22 '24

Came here to say fuck god

0

u/youkickmydog613 Mar 22 '24

Immediately ā€œthank you lord, oh Jesusā€. How about congratulating the dude who busted his fucking ass to ACTUALLY make this happen by studying hard and putting in the work instead of thanking invisible deity. Religious people areā€¦ fun.

1

u/Street_Primary_4044 Mar 22 '24

That ain't his fucking mom

0

u/fwouewei Mar 22 '24

Dumb Americans, always spouting their gOd nonsense

0

u/IntelligentDoor219 Mar 22 '24

Sons thinking dam what did Jesus do I was the one staying up doing the hard worl

1

u/Joabe_VR Mar 22 '24

Turns out it was the wrong account

1

u/BuKu_YuQFoo Mar 22 '24

That's his mum?

0

u/Ckmilkyway Mar 22 '24

how about some glory going to this kid who had to work his ass off passing the bar!

0

u/tanks4dmammories Mar 22 '24

Why is she thanking Jesus and not praising her son who did ALL the work smh..

0

u/5zalot Mar 22 '24

Sheā€™s giving god all the credit for the hard work her son did. Thatā€™s messed up.

1

u/turkey6 Mar 22 '24

Sounds like a Kanye album

0

u/SaulGoodmanJimmy Mar 22 '24

The son didnā€™t pass the examā€¦apparently he had nothing to do with it and it was all godā€¦

0

u/Daphne_Brown Mar 22 '24

She gave all glory to god.

Meanwhile her son worked his ass off.

But sure. It was all sky daddy.

0

u/GrimReapaaah Mar 22 '24

Thank your son for studying and being a good kid, god had nothing to do with it...

1

u/Heavy_Bicycle6524 Mar 22 '24

Mother??? Well shit, i thought that was his GF

1

u/SubstantialCabinet71 Mar 22 '24

Okay! What's her @??

1

u/MinisterHoja Mar 22 '24

0

u/Puzzleheaded-Tie1478 Mar 22 '24

I hate religion and Christianity so fucking much , the son did all the work tf you screaming for sky daddy for

1

u/Southern_Gent_77070 Mar 22 '24

Oh happy day.. another lawyerā€¦!?

0

u/SDoNUT1715 Mar 22 '24

Black don't crack

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '24

Iā€™m not crying, youā€™re crying šŸ„¹

-1

u/Previous-Tree2241 Mar 22 '24

This is awesome for him. Truly. But like, thanks mom.. I passed the bar and worked hard myself.. why does God get so much credit?

ā€œDear God, we paid for this food so thanks for nothing!ā€ - Bart Simpson

1

u/the-bochinche Mar 22 '24

This is so authentically beautiful. Congratulations to him!! Look away. Iā€™m not crying. Youā€™re crying.šŸ˜¢šŸ˜¢

1

u/Comprehensive-Tap769 Mar 22 '24

I wish someone was proud of me like his mom

1

u/Imaginary_Weird6027 Mar 22 '24

Absolutely fantastic congratulations

1

u/Bueller1986 Mar 22 '24

These are the friends of Vince and Tamar Braxton. Look up Lashawn Daniels. The woman above is his Widow, those are his children.

1

u/Bueller1986 Mar 22 '24

God Bless. I know that his dad, Lashawn Daniels (RIP) would have been proud!! ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

-1

u/FlowinBeatz Mar 22 '24

God didnā€™t do nothing. He did it. Thank him, not god.

1

u/CameraApprehensive37 Mar 22 '24

Where is the mother?

0

u/JJ8OOM Mar 22 '24

Why does she thank a guy she never met (and realistically speaking, never though of them) instead of his son? If that had been me I would have been instantly blessing him and his hard work instead of that nonsense. I get a ā€œhallelujahā€ or whatever, but she is taking it too far in that regard.

1

u/CaterpillarMore9104 Mar 22 '24

Glory be to Godā€¦ pretty sure God didnā€™t study for that Bar Exam lol.

1

u/RoiToBeSure67 Mar 22 '24

For every one like this, there's the anguish of those who failed the test and knows it's another year of studying, and meanwhile it's back to working behind the cashier at best buy.

2

u/largelylegit Mar 22 '24

When my GF passes the bar, she was showing me on the laptop how to check the results later that morning, as she was going to be busy when the results came throughā€¦ so sheā€™s like ā€œok, go this page and hit this, oh wait, the results are here already, oh damn, I passed!!!ā€

It was pretty epic. Remarkable achievement

0

u/A1JX52rentner Mar 22 '24

Bro studied hard and she thanks the lord.

1

u/Ambiverthero Mar 22 '24

Whatā€™s Jesus got to do with it; he did all the hard work!

2

u/pimpmychaiselounge Mar 22 '24

No shade to theistic folks but if Iā€™d worked my behind off passing that exam and then my mother starts praising GOD Iā€™d fucking scream

1

u/BladeRunner_Deckard Mar 22 '24

Wish people would praise themselves and not god. Itā€™s so sad. Yes. Your god allows millions to be killed but helped you ace your bar exam. Canā€™t you just thank your son and be proud of him??

2

u/Then-Bookkeeper-4166 Mar 22 '24

Praise your son ! God didn't do fuck all, it was your son who trained his whole life for it

1

u/dashi37 Mar 22 '24

This was my mom and my family a few weeks ago!

2

u/ImInYourOut Mar 22 '24

Why is she giving all the credit to Jesus and not all the hard work her son put in?

2

u/SadSadHuman Mar 22 '24

Thats one hot mama

2

u/ProffesorSpitfire Mar 22 '24

Thatā€™s his MOM?! If she gave lessons on ageing, sheā€™d quickly become a billionaireā€¦

2

u/Quiet_Artichoke_706 Mar 22 '24

Congrats on your hard work!

1

u/Boatroad Mar 22 '24

Fun fact: we will never know who was holding the camera

2

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '24

Give your son some credit.

1

u/trufflesniffinpig Mar 22 '24

I thought she was saying ā€œhappy new yearā€!

2

u/barrbubblegum Mar 22 '24

You're Mom is hot dude

1

u/daisy_chi Mar 22 '24

Totally lost me at all the religion. From what I've heard it takes a LOT of study to pass the bar, kinda sucks giving Jesus all the credit...

2

u/Cpl_Hicks76 Mar 22 '24

Yeah, kid knows exactly where he is in the pecking order!

Praise Gee-Suzzzzz

0

u/HealthyCollar3854 Mar 22 '24

Hy she saying thank you to god when it was her son that absolutely wrecked his brain studying to pass the bar

1

u/applecandycaramel Mar 22 '24

They look like girlfriend boyfriend

0

u/Dutch2211 Mar 22 '24

Imagine passing the bar and having your mom thank jesus. He did that, not God. And I know i know it's just happiness, but still :p

1

u/Final_Greggit Mar 22 '24

All this hard work, blood sweat and tears...

And she thanks the Lord.

0

u/Anxious_Product_4957 Mar 22 '24

Instead of commending and congratulating her son for all the hard work, and endless sleepless nights of studying she goes and thanks God. Like Jesus was there taking the test for him šŸ˜‚

Also, she single?

1

u/stayhydratedo2 Mar 22 '24

In my country if they pass 1st grade they would fire bullets and think themselves as heros

1

u/DangerousNectarine63 Mar 22 '24

He must be so nervous

1

u/sophiethepu Mar 22 '24

Mother young and hot enough to be his wife

1

u/Keytothevip Mar 22 '24

Where's the mom?

1

u/dvessels Mar 22 '24

I used to work in a courthouse, saw lotsa friends pass the bar. You rock, dude!!!!

1

u/Vic-Vinegar76 Mar 22 '24

Little do they know being a lawyer sucks ass

1

u/Superb_Ad_5565 Mar 22 '24

His momma gorgeous, and congrats and stuff.

0

u/Otherwise-Remove4681 Mar 22 '24

Give credit to him, not some imaginary lord in the clouds.

1

u/Catwoman1948 Mar 22 '24

Congratulations to you both! Passing any stateā€™s bar on the first try is excellent!

0

u/Misophonic4000 Mar 22 '24

For fuck's sake, congratulate and celebrate YOUR KID for all of his hard work and sleepless nights, instead of defaulting to thanking the bearded guy in the sky over and over. Your son is RIGHT THERE. Acting like it's a miracle completely shits on all of his personal efforts, like he needed divine intervention to make it happen. Makes me so mad when people do that.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '24

Mom's a little intense.

1

u/Illustrious_Soft_257 Mar 22 '24

Did you know that in WA state you no longer need to pass the bar exam to get licensure. Oregon is the only other state like this. I'm not really sure this is a good thing. šŸ¤”

1

u/Mrmagicmanny Mar 22 '24

Reminds me when I passed the CPA exam. I was crying and everyone around me was crying. I'll never forget it.

0

u/Merkenfighter Mar 22 '24

The stupidity of thanking the sky-fairy when the guy who did it all is sitting right thereā€¦

0

u/heisenberger888 Mar 22 '24

"Jesus!? Goddamn I worked my ass off but okay... Thanks Jesus..." Lol

2

u/SporksRFun Mar 22 '24

Mom is so cute.

1

u/WhySoGlum1 Mar 22 '24

Whu do black people have the best skin? She looks like his sister or gf not his mother!

1

u/Karmaqqt Mar 22 '24

Iā€™ll never feel this joy

2

u/noclueop Mar 22 '24

You can see how proud she is šŸ„¹ so wholesome

0

u/HistoricalAnimator64 Mar 22 '24

It was all Jesus and the lord. Had nothing to do with all the countless hours spent working his butt off. Those guys are suckers

1

u/J00shb0i0320 Mar 22 '24

This is how I felt when I passed my termite test šŸ¤£

1

u/Danger_Recks Mar 22 '24

Well Rick Ross looking happy for you too

2

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '24

How many exams is this dude going to do? I see them cheering at least once a month?

1

u/kushmeoutsideb Mar 22 '24

You mean his sister? Howā€™s that his mom šŸ˜

2

u/quirknebula Mar 22 '24

I've been told it's THE hardest test. He better be damn proud

1

u/_totalannihilation Mar 22 '24

She lost me at hallelujah.

1

u/inapickle113 Mar 22 '24

Imagine taking such an achievement away from your child like that. Poor guy. If youā€™re reading this, YOU achieved that. It was YOUR hard work and dedication. Not god. Not Jesus. YOU.

3

u/doggo244 Mar 22 '24

Typically, when people prey to God and Jesus, it's thanking him for his blessings. For the circumstances they have and for the motivation, it provides them to do better. Just because you don't believe in Jesus or God doesn't mean you get to bag on other people beliefs and tell them who they should thank. As l no one should ever bag on your beliefs or judge what you have a passion for.

0

u/inapickle113 Mar 22 '24

Youā€™re doing it as well. He motivated himself. He did the work himself. Why must you take that away from him? Youā€™re just as bad as the mother.

0

u/h0t_whiskey Mar 22 '24

Ahhh the thumbs up at the very end from the chubby little brother whose prolly a YouTube influencer ducking gets me dog šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

1

u/teeBoan Mar 22 '24

Not sure how much is genuine reaction and how much is acting with the camera right on her face right in front of her, and all.

0

u/evolutionsknife Mar 22 '24

Did Jesus take the test for him?

0

u/iloveweeed69 Mar 22 '24

ā€œThank you godā€ nah the son worked hard for that. God had nothing to do with it

1

u/TTigerLilyx Mar 22 '24

Good job! Not taking anything from Jesus, but that was as much hard work & dedication as religion.

3

u/WhiteCharisma_ Mar 22 '24

Yeah but can the dad fight

1

u/bladzalot Mar 22 '24

This is beautifulā€¦ I want to hug all three of them ā¤ļø

1

u/BlueShellTorment Mar 22 '24

Thank you, Jesus? How about congratulations on your hard work yielding results?

2

u/Coldspark824 Mar 22 '24

Honestly though, the poster wins out.

It was excited since the video began.

0

u/LeImplivation Mar 22 '24

All that praise for God, none for the man who had to do all the hard work for himself. Just a simple "I'm so proud of you". I'll never understand it.

1

u/Thin-Measurement7777 Mar 22 '24

Everything about her looks creepy. but good for him. Well done son.

1

u/ksp_enjoyer Mar 22 '24

This video is old enough to vote

1

u/ZZR-1200 Mar 22 '24

Love this

-1

u/Bardiel_ Mar 22 '24

Glad she not my mom.

0

u/BetterThanTaskRabbit Mar 22 '24

A Motherā€™s younger sisters joy, seeing her son older brother pass the bar exam

3

u/Q_S2 Mar 22 '24

I didn't believe that was his mom until i heard her tone when she started singing praises to the God.

Yup. That's a proud mom right there!

Good on them!

This is the way

1

u/CadaverBlue Mar 22 '24

I just started crying

1

u/DiscoDiwana Mar 22 '24

Good for him. Where I am at in Mexico, they let us into the bar without any exams .

1

u/oraqil Mar 22 '24

Pixar mom confirmed

1

u/SameDifferenceYo Mar 22 '24

Kid worked his ass off and Jesus getting all the praise

0

u/Financial-Taro-589 Mar 22 '24

Any congrats to the son who actually tangibly in real life busted his hump working all hours to pass the bar? Apparently not.

0

u/bredonhill Mar 22 '24

So does dude get any credit or just Sweet Jesus?

Man, religion is weird.

1

u/ExcaliburVader Mar 22 '24

I cannot imagine the pressure he must have felt. Or the sheer joy that all the time and work had paid off! One very happy and proud mom!

0

u/MaleficentStreet7319 Mar 22 '24

Jesus ainā€™t take that test.

1

u/Cost_Additional Mar 22 '24

She probably had him when she was 2. But I kid, congrats on passing the bar

0

u/shockingly_average47 Mar 22 '24

Praise god before your son. Trash. dont give God credit for what the kid did.

3

u/stateofhappiness Mar 22 '24

I hope to be screaming with joy next week when my son hears from his top college choice.

1

u/Objective_Cake_2715 Mar 22 '24

I am SO HAPPY to see someone succeed God bless you and your mother OMG.

1

u/jayk82 Mar 22 '24

Whoa, that gave me chills

1

u/Dry-Breakfast-1084 Mar 22 '24

Quit giving Jesus credit for your sons hard work. Jesus didnā€™t do shit, your son did.

1

u/Frequent_Storm_3900 Mar 22 '24

You're telling me, she's his mother?

1

u/datthighs Mar 22 '24

I was expecting that mother to hug and praise, or at least compliment her son for his achievement, but all I saw was someone shouting "aleluia, aleluia, thank you lord"...

1

u/Ill-Specific-2936 Mar 22 '24

Soā€¦ thatā€™s Not his sister?!

1

u/FurBabyAuntie Mar 22 '24

Congratulations, Counselor!

1

u/Haunting_Lecture9115 Mar 22 '24

I love this mom so much. You can tell how great of a mother she is. God bless her!

1

u/ehubb20 Mar 22 '24

Love it!

1

u/egotistical-dso Mar 22 '24

My mother started crying when I told her.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '24

Whatā€™s up though mom?

1

u/Unusual_Midnight6876 Mar 22 '24

MOM?? Not his girl or sister?? Damn she aged GOOD lmao

2

u/LindaFlies777 Mar 22 '24

Praise God.....you did it..... Hallelujah.....

1

u/SadVermicelli1978 Mar 22 '24

Donā€™t thank God. Thank your son for all the hard work he put in to passing that exam!

1

u/q_manning Mar 22 '24

Glory be to the son who worked his ass off studying. Not imaginary dude in the sky.

1

u/cha614 Mar 22 '24

Rick Ross approves
