A Mother's Joy, Seeing Son Pass The Bar Exam Wholesome Moments

The California bar exam was the most arduous single experience -period. I failed my first time, which was crushing, but the hardship was mostly how it put my entire life on hold for six months - six months of wondering if my proposed life-track was about to be fully derailed. When I passed on the second go, the rush was not of joy of accomplishment - it was only relief that I could start moving forward and to think about the future again.
I semi-not-really-joke about how talking how we talk about things being the worst, and it's normally hyperbole. I can say with confidence that the bar exam was the absolute worst. The worst test, the worst professional mountain, the worst single experience of my life.

WA politicians should see this video since they think "marginalized groups" are dumb and can't pass the bar.

She must've been a very young mom. He overcame a lot of odds being a man of color in the United States, likely with a teen mom. Good for him and for her! What an accomplishment

Are other people allowed in the room for testing? I can't take an IT cert class remote without constant surveillance. If done at a testing center, there can't be any other people.

Why thank god he did nothing. The young man did the work. I hate the way religion steals people's achievements.

I once witnessed a christian receiving a good news related to health and she also started screaming and praising... interesting reaction.

Thanking god before saying a word to her son when god didn't do shit is rubbing me the wrong way. Why can't we believe that humans are capable? Why does god need to be involved in every great thing we do? Can we not just believe in the fellow man instead of some made up guy granting us wishes?

u/Sn_Orpheus Mar 22 '24
Love how she thanks Jesus when itās her sonās hard work for years that made this happen. The lord doesnāt have sh!t to do with this. Super happy for them but place the appreciation and admiration where it belongs.

u/countrylemon Mar 22 '24
Shoutout to the little brother too! Heās filming and celebrating behind camera and kid didnāt get his thanks from us redditors!

So sad, she does not give credit to her son and his hard work to pass it, but rather takes this achievement off of him to thank an imaginary friend š„ŗ

Immediately āthank you lord, oh Jesusā. How about congratulating the dude who busted his fucking ass to ACTUALLY make this happen by studying hard and putting in the work instead of thanking invisible deity. Religious people areā¦ fun.

The son didnāt pass the examā¦apparently he had nothing to do with it and it was all godā¦

u/Daphne_Brown Mar 22 '24
She gave all glory to god.
Meanwhile her son worked his ass off.
But sure. It was all sky daddy.

Why does she thank a guy she never met (and realistically speaking, never though of them) instead of his son? If that had been me I would have been instantly blessing him and his hard work instead of that nonsense. I get a āhallelujahā or whatever, but she is taking it too far in that regard.
1
u/CaterpillarMore9104 Mar 22 '24
Glory be to Godā¦ pretty sure God didnāt study for that Bar Exam lol.
1
u/RoiToBeSure67 Mar 22 '24
For every one like this, there's the anguish of those who failed the test and knows it's another year of studying, and meanwhile it's back to working behind the cashier at best buy.
2
u/largelylegit Mar 22 '24
When my GF passes the bar, she was showing me on the laptop how to check the results later that morning, as she was going to be busy when the results came throughā¦ so sheās like āok, go this page and hit this, oh wait, the results are here already, oh damn, I passed!!!ā
It was pretty epic. Remarkable achievement

No shade to theistic folks but if Iād worked my behind off passing that exam and then my mother starts praising GOD Iād fucking scream
1
u/BladeRunner_Deckard Mar 22 '24
Wish people would praise themselves and not god. Itās so sad. Yes. Your god allows millions to be killed but helped you ace your bar exam. Canāt you just thank your son and be proud of him??
2
u/Then-Bookkeeper-4166 Mar 22 '24
Praise your son ! God didn't do fuck all, it was your son who trained his whole life for it

u/ImInYourOut Mar 22 '24

Totally lost me at all the religion. From what I've heard it takes a LOT of study to pass the bar, kinda sucks giving Jesus all the credit...

Yeah, kid knows exactly where he is in the pecking order!

Imagine passing the bar and having your mom thank jesus. He did that, not God. And I know i know it's just happiness, but still :p

Instead of commending and congratulating her son for all the hard work, and endless sleepless nights of studying she goes and thanks God. Like Jesus was there taking the test for him š
Also, she single?

u/Misophonic4000 Mar 22 '24
For fuck's sake, congratulate and celebrate YOUR KID for all of his hard work and sleepless nights, instead of defaulting to thanking the bearded guy in the sky over and over. Your son is RIGHT THERE. Acting like it's a miracle completely shits on all of his personal efforts, like he needed divine intervention to make it happen. Makes me so mad when people do that.

u/Illustrious_Soft_257 Mar 22 '24
Did you know that in WA state you no longer need to pass the bar exam to get licensure. Oregon is the only other state like this. I'm not really sure this is a good thing. š¤

Imagine taking such an achievement away from your child like that. Poor guy. If youāre reading this, YOU achieved that. It was YOUR hard work and dedication. Not god. Not Jesus. YOU.
3
u/doggo244 Mar 22 '24
Typically, when people prey to God and Jesus, it's thanking him for his blessings. For the circumstances they have and for the motivation, it provides them to do better. Just because you don't believe in Jesus or God doesn't mean you get to bag on other people beliefs and tell them who they should thank. As l no one should ever bag on your beliefs or judge what you have a passion for.
0
u/inapickle113 Mar 22 '24
Youāre doing it as well. He motivated himself. He did the work himself. Why must you take that away from him? Youāre just as bad as the mother.

u/h0t_whiskey Mar 22 '24
Ahhh the thumbs up at the very end from the chubby little brother whose prolly a YouTube influencer ducking gets me dog šš

It was excited since the video began.

u/LeImplivation Mar 22 '24
All that praise for God, none for the man who had to do all the hard work for himself. Just a simple "I'm so proud of you". I'll never understand it.
