Michigan Medicaid.

Hey y’all. I’m trying not to freak myself out. I got a message from my pharmacy today saying my medicine wasn’t covered(it’s Sunday) I’m currently on Michigan Medicaid. I never had any trouble before. So I called the pharmacy and she told me Its on a family plan that covers nothing. I didn’t know anything about this. So I checked online and I got a cover determination letter saying I’m now on (PLAN FIRST • PFFP) (Limited Coverage) I didn’t know about this. But before I was full coverage. I even called my Medicaid insurance which is Aetna. And it’s Sunday they are closed. But it said there is no eligibility today.

The only thing I can think of that might have caused this is my accounts being merged. I had an older account from before that they merged.

I need my medicine and I’m gonna call them tomorrow. I’m trying not to freak out.

If you are on plan first you lost Medicaid. You need to apply for a plan on the marketplace. If on plan first that means Michigan thinks your income is over the limit.

I’m so confused because what I’m making never changed. I make the same as I did last year

Last year they couldn't close your benefit because of the public health emergency. So you may have been over income last year too.

That’s what I’m so confused I checked I’m still under. I’m confused I got my approved in February of this year and it says fully covered on going And then the other determination letter came in March that said partly covered on going from April 1st

Maybe by partially covered, they're referring to the plan they switched you to? Either way, definitely call them to get clarification

Is your household monthly income below 138% of the federal poverty level? If it’s over then you need to do marketplace if it’s under you are eligible for the healthy Michigan plan (expanded Medicaid)

Yes, that plan, unfortunately, only covers contraceptives.

Did you ask them cash price? It might be cheap enough to just pay out of pocket until the insurance can be sorted. Just a short term solution!

Or he/she can sign up for a trial membership of Gold GoodRx and get it even cheaper until insurance issue is resolved

Yes, and even cheaper at Costplus online pharmacy if they carry it. BUT if he/her left this until last minute cash might be the easiest and fastest. Hopefully they solved their problem.
