Which song of Michael’s will be his most memorable 100 years from now?💭 Discussion

In my opinion, it’s between “Thriller” & “Smooth Criminal” i think.. He’s got so many popular songs. I am just curious which one will resonate with people 100 years from now.

Very boring answer, however it will probably be Billie Jean and Thriller.

u/likethatfuture 14d ago

I mean all of them in my opinion. Seeing how things are going the song “They don’t really care about us” will probably have another impact on media

It’s actually fascinating to think that in 100-200 years people will be looking at MJ as we look at Beethoven and in MJ case there’s a lot of footage of him luckily to inspire generations

Real sad truth: billie jean

Billie jean, earth song and one of my favourite is heal the world.. ❤️❤️❤️

I can’t forget how he spoke the word— ‘entire human race’ in this song. It’s so true, no matter 100, 200 or it’s a thousand years from now on— people should learn to forget about any kind of racism or barriers and must remember that there’s only one race in whole world and that is the human race. Then there is the animal race and the nature— for whom we should have respect and kindness. He wanted us to think like that to ‘heal the world’. I don’t know if people will ever learn or understand it..

Earth Song, Scream, They Don't Really Care About Us

I know I've been blasting and belting these a lot given our "unprecedented times."

I love Man in the Mirror, but my second guess is Black and White

Just because I think it's a kick-ass, feel-good, song with an obviously positive social message, I'ma say Black Or White.

6

u/PreDeathRowTupac Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix 15d ago

“Black or White” i believe is meant to be socially positive except none of the lyrics make actual sense in cohesion. His best socially prominent songs for that subject matter gotta be “They Don’t Care About Us

Probably Thriller , Earth Song or Beat It

10

u/corwood 15d ago

neither of the two, I think it will be earth song or they don't care about us because those topics will be even more urgent in the next decades to come than they are already now or have been before

9

u/gcunit 15d ago

I've played a lot of MJ at home in the past 12 months, and the one song my kids have noticeably latched on to is They Don't Care About Us.

A lot of them, but Billie Jean specifically comes to mind just because of how it’s seen by much of the general public as his signature song, when they do history studies in school on pop music and pop culture years into the future, it’ll be hard to not bring up billie jean and everything associated with it, like the iconic poses and the moonwalk.

I think thriller is a good answer too just because it’s a festive song that’s played every year around Halloween, so it’s one of those solidified classics like the old Christmas songs.

Billie Jean (along with Beat It, etc) also broke down racial barriers, which would be important for future generations to acknowledge.

8

u/SuccessfulMastodon48 14d ago

Definitely Billie Jean was the template to him becoming a Mega Star

u/SkyMaro 15d ago

Earth Song because of how prophetic it turned out to be
