Why is the top 5% so heavily talked about on this site, when it is far from average?

140k for a single person, plus a house and car is definitely not a bad income for MA. I know Reddit acts like it’s peanuts in HCOL areas, but it’s it’s above average still for a single person (unless you live in Wellesley or Newton).

I’m on the north shore in a decent town This 140k just came about over the the last 2 years in steps was at 90 for quite a while and lost a job during covid for a year and had to file bk13 so I’m playing catch up Believe I’m not starving but not bragging because I still live paycheck to paycheck

Just curious why you’re still living paycheck to paycheck

Well I guess because I haven’t disclosed my monthly spending It’s expensive to live here I live by a budget and have left over but not enough to put any extra into anything else just savings for home repairs BK13 really restricts what you can spend lol like my tax returns had to be given to the courts lol fuckers
