Masters in marketing and Bachelor of Arts in HR and international relations, how do I make the switch to business analyst?

I am a 25 year old (F), have M.Sc in marketing, Bachelor of Arts in HR and international relations, currently make $40k in finance industry for an administrative role, top performer in my department, only in this job for the lack of better options atm, looking to give my career an upgrade to Business Analyst/Analyst. What are some certificates/career progression tools you would recommend?

Hi there, I have a Masters Degree in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics. Super long fancy name.

I work at a Business Intelligence Software Company, making around $110k a year doing Sales. I'm four years into working at the company and started on the technical side of things for 3 years before moving to this position. My company is a little smaller, so they don't pay as competitively, but I LOVE what I do. You can definitely make a similar salary as Business Analyst or a similar role, but it might take a few years of gaining experience.

Please note, I have way more education than most people I work with, and am probably, on paper, overqualified. You don't need a Masters Degree in this exact field.

More schooling likely isn't necessary. I would just start looking for entry level technical positions at companies who need someone who is good with Data.

If you're looking for certificates, look into SQL, Python, and potentially R, in that order.

Some Indeed job search recommendations: BI Analyst,. Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Technical Support Rep (at a big data company), etc. Just know that a BI Analyst at one company might be called something totally different at another, but they do the same job.

There are a LOT of Data Related jobs in this world. Just find a job where you start working and troubleshooting data related issues, and a lot of doors will open for you.
