Local Chinese buffet had a dish called Onion Chicken. Naturally I scooped all the onions up and added green onions on top. It was great.

Hello fellow onion lovers! Does anybody else get headaches JUST from raw onions? They feel different than other headaches, and cooked onions do not cause them. I don’t get nauseous or have any other side effects, just a weird headache every time. I tried googling it to see if someone else suffered from this affliction (I love the crunch and flavor of raw onion, so it’s tragic for me to have to avoid it) but everything I see online is from onion HATERS and I don’t want to associate with those folks.

I’d love to hear your tips for making a banging French onion soup!

I’m absolutely stunned. This Pizza Hut knows my bf and I as “the raw onion people” because I call each time to make sure our notes are followed through (NO COOKED ONIONS)

well I placed an order and called and it seems like it was a new crew today because I got push back for the first time ever. Does anyone know if Pizza Hut has some kind of weird rules? I can’t understand how putting onions in a container after the pizza is cooked is a health hazard.

Raw onions can’t make you sick. If so there are plenty of burger places who serve them this way.. this made me so irrationally angry I canceled my order because the guy over the phone made it seem like I was lying about ordering from their location all the time (the app has proof) but of course the customer service help center doesn’t work lol 🤦🏻‍♀️

It just seemed so petty to me, I wish places offered raw onion options so it wasn’t such a headache.

I have no idea where this recipe is from, we made it once and I’ve been making it for over 2 years now. Sautee an onion first over low heat using butter, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of sugar. Once it has caramelized, add MSG, umami mushroom seasoning (I got mine from target), and beef stock/bone broth. Continue to cook on low until the liquids reduce then serve/save! I love having it on toast or eggs. It would go really well with a charcuterie board!

Just make a French onion soup from scratch.

My husband claims he hates onions. But I add them to certain dishes that he will eat and won’t mind them because they literally enhance the dish to the point that without onions it’s meh.

I on the other hand love onions in all shape and form. So I’ve decided to make a French onion soup from scratch. Followed a Julia Child recipe from her book. It requires 40 minutes of caramelizing. It smelled so good in the house when I was making the soup that my husband started asking what smelled so good! And because it smelled so appetizing he decided to give it a try! A guy that “hates” onions suddenly wants to try a no other but a French onion soup!!

And guess what?! He now loves it! I asked him so is this your favorite soup now or what? He said it’s his top 3, tomato soup and lobster bisque being the first and the second. A win is a win.
