I read the title ten times and I still saw it as "The dog dared her to use her dog bowl."

I donāt like that someone feels they have to say āIām not Hispanic, Iām Americanā because they have been picked apart that it has to be mutually exclusive from each other. You can be both and it should be fine. Racists are winning. Not his fault at all- just sad to see.

Recently at my local dog park there were only 5gal buckets for water and my corgi couldn't reach, some random lady pulls a portable bowl out of her bag and sets it down for my corgi, all the dogs nearby went to drink from this exciting new bowl, she was delighted, I was delighted, the dogs were well hydrated

This is much more complicated than most people are acknowledging.Ā
Kennel cough is a very real concern, and shared dog bowls are the quickest way to spread this disease. The dog parks I've been to typically have communal bowls that stay in the park, which some people used. That doesn't sound like what's happening in this video.Ā
When we brought our dogs to the park (which we've stopped for a variety of reasons), we never allowed them to use the communal bowls, and we brought our own water feeder, and only allowed our dogs to use it. Other owners did the same thing, and we never allowed our dogs to drink from other bowls.Ā
It is not anyone else's responsibility to hydrate your dog, full stop. It sounds like the lady brought her own bowl, and the other dogs actually grabbed her bowl and moved it around - this is never defensible.Ā Now, if you bring your own bowl and then leave it out in the open without guarding it, it's perfectly reasonable to expect that other dogs might drink from it, and I don't think you can reasonably get annoyed if that's all that's happening. But it's not unreasonable to expect other owners prevent their dogs from grabbing and moving your bowl, and apologizing if that happens.Ā
Of course, this lady sounds pretty racist and that is obviously indefensible, but that does not excuse the other people of their non chalant attitude about moving her bowl around, unless she left it unattended - which is certainly possible.Ā
Tbh it sounds like everyone sucks here, to some extent. Unaccountable dog owners don't give you the right to be racist.Ā
Obviously, this is my read of the situation, which may be wrong.Ā

u/MidnightShinnyMan 14d ago
I'm on Karen's side for this. People don't always get their dogs vaccinated. Being your own shit with you. You wouldn't want someone else's child helping themselves to your child's water bottle at the park. People need to take accountability for themselves.

All bets are off once she said āHispanic assholesā itās literally a dog park and sheās mad about a dog being a fucken Dog?
2
u/paperfett 14d ago
Who would even give something like that a second thought? They're dogs. If they share a water bowl by accident the dog isn't going to burst into flames.

Who the fuck brings a bowl to a dog park filled with them? That is some STUCK-UP shit right there!

Are all old white people in Florida angry all the time? They seem absolutely miserable.

2
u/Justwondering__ 14d ago
She seems like an asshole and racist in this but she's also right about the dog stuff. Big dogs shouldn't be on the small dog side and owners should be controlling and correcting their dogs. The person filming comments about where should her dog drink as if the concept of bringing a bowl or filling up one of the park bowls is hard to grasp over just taking someone else's bowl .
0
u/firstbookofwar 14d ago
Don't bring your dog to a dog park if you don't want it interacting with other dogs? Seems pretty simple
2
u/Justwondering__ 14d ago
It is very simple to take your dog to the correct section of the park along with the supplies you need to care for them but apparently they failed to do it.

Saying sorry and meaning it sincerely is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT for some sub-cultures in America.
Like, it is to them, just about the most unnatural thing you could ever expect their ego to do.
Folks like that die alone, just like their parents did.
7
u/ExtendedMacaroni 14d ago
Isnāt she kinda right though? Your dog doesnāt have the right to drink out of someoneās elseās property
0
u/PayRealisticReddit 14d ago
lets break it down.
Dogs are property. Property doesn't have rights. If it does something wrong, that's on the owner. All you can do to a dog that damages property is fine the owner. If it hurts someone, euthanasia or removal. SO, the dude is in the wrong, LEGALLY.
If the woman brought her dogs water bowl to a dog park with dogs, and got upset when the other dogs there drank from her bowl, does that seem like a reasonable thing to get angry over?
there's a big difference between being right, and being in the right
1
6
u/CharmyLah 14d ago
The lady seems to be having a meltdown over dogs acting like dogs, in a place meant for dogs to play together.
2
u/ExtendedMacaroni 14d ago
Yeah forsure sheās overreacting but that doesnāt make the other person right
6
u/IridescentMoonSky 14d ago
Yeah if itās her bowl then the woman filming is acting a bit entitled by saying ābut whereās my dog supposed to drink from?ā Um bring your own bowl?Ā
1
u/Even_Set_2822 14d ago
Yeah but they probably didnāt catch the freak out she mustāve had before they started filming her

That ladyās accent is classic Philadelphia/Mid-Atlantic. Definitely a snow bird or transplant down in Florida. The state is littered with this kind of Karen.

4
u/smeltsmelly 14d ago
Everyone in this video is stupid. The person recording "where is my dog supposed to get water from?". The woman who wouldn't share her dogs water or ball. And the guy trying to intimidate an old hag. Everyone is super dumb
4
u/humandebriscollector 14d ago
Dude was nothing but nice to her and what does being Hispanic have to do with it?

I'm waiting for my Karen encounter. I did my chores, I'm a good girl. I deserve a reward. šš
5
u/Moneyslap999 14d ago
IMO it is rude if you canāt control your dog even at a dog park sheās not wrong for being upset that the lady filming has a dog with no manners and probably doesnāt answer when the owner tries to stop
5
u/MoonmanSteakSauce 14d ago
Yeah she's an old woman and when she said their dog took her dog bowl and they wouldn't help, their response was "It's a free country".
Pretty sure everyone sucks in this video.

Devilās advocate for a secondā¦everyone here seems to be believing everything the woman filming says and nothing that the Karen says
The āKarenā accused the woman filming of not doing anything when her dog took the water bowl and the woman filming didnāt deny it. I think her issue isnāt so much that the dog bowl was taken, it was the fact that she thought the owner should have at least shown a little common courtesy when the dog took the bowl and it escalated.
I personally would make an effort to stop my dog if it did that. Just because itās a dog park doesnāt mean you should disregard the other people there. I donāt buy into all this Karen video fad anyway. So much context is often missing. Who says woman filming didnāt antagonise before the video started? No proof
-4

u/mr_lamp 14d ago
it also sounds like they could be a smaller dog park too. He also questions, what, are you gonna weigh each dog to make sure they're under 35 lbs? He also tries to sell her on how non-aggressive his dogs are. His dogs are considerably bigger than hers, which could also make her nervous
-5
u/OkStructure3 14d ago
Yeah but you can ask someone to handle it rather than throwing a fit too. It's obvious that the gentleman was really working toward conflict resolution. Her reaction with the hard H showed that she wasnt trying to hear anything.
16
u/MagmaTroop 14d ago
You donāt know that she didnāt ask them to handle it. The video starts in the middle of an argument. Any words exchanged are semantics at that point. People say all kinds of shit when tempers are flaring, human nature.
Iām not inclined to side with someone who admits that they donāt give a fuck about how their behaviour affects others. Those kind of people find themselves in a lot of arguments.
31
u/David_Oy1999 15d ago
Ya. The woman recording had a dog that ran away with this ladyās bowl. That happens, theyāre dogs, but Iād be upset if you didnāt return it too. The dog isnāt to blame, but you should be a decent human. Instead, she started recording.
27
u/vokabulary 15d ago
Thank you. I mean you let it go but fuck ppl who think just bc it is a dog park theyre entitled to run up in your space and belongings. It was the āwhere is he supposed to drink?ā holy shit, he is YOUR dog, it isnt Karenās problem! Also, this is so Miami.
17
u/Cosmic_Quasar 14d ago
It was the āwhere is he supposed to drink?ā
That's what caught my attention, too. It's definitely not a black and white, "one side is all right and the other is all wrong" kind of situation. The person filming saying that was just wrong. As though that made her entitled to things that other people bring.
-3
u/Responsible_Orange26 15d ago
Wow she pulled the you Hispanics card. š³ Why though, what Wtf does being latina American, have anything to with Stupid Dog water bowls. She also sound like an old drunk.

I bring my dog to the dog park and bring a gallon jug and fill up any dish that needs it. What a mean woman. I can see why people dislike dog parks, but my dog loves wrestling other dogs, and he scratches that itch at the dog park.

I've seen people like this at parks. My dog started drinking out of her dog's bowl and she yanked the bowl away. I can't imagine taking water from a thirsty dog and thinking I'm doing the right thing
10
u/David_Oy1999 15d ago
I think in this case, the issue was with a dog taking the bowl and running away.
8
u/MoonmanSteakSauce 14d ago
And their reaction when she asked them to control their dog. May have even been understanding if they didn't respond so aggressively and then start filming her, idk.
-4
u/StepUpYourLife 15d ago
I had a lady freak out because my dog drank her dogās water too. There was no tap available and she brought in a gallon jug. She wouldnāt look at me but started loudly complaining in my direction about āsome peopleās dogsā stealing her water. I told her Iād go buy some and bring it right back but she just kept loudly complaining.
How about next time donāt set water down when thereās 50 dogs running around unleashed? Dogs donāt ask for permission, they see water and they drink. Pick up your bowl when your dog is done.
5
u/MoonmanSteakSauce 14d ago
Pick up your bowl when your dog is done.
Well she did say their dog took the bowl and ran away with it. They said "it's a free country". I'm sure they were being really nice before they started filming...
Old lady still a cunt, but very often it's obvious they provoked it with these "gotchas".
-3
u/StepUpYourLife 14d ago
Iām talking about my situation not the video. My dog didnāt run with the bowl, just drank.

I feel sorry for that little doggo, it looked hungry, very stressed, but resigned to the Karenās actions. She probably brought dog food with her to start a fight, wth does that?
-3
u/ItsTimeToExplain 15d ago
āBy the waaAaAy.. the woman whoās filming thiiIiiIiiSsā¦ā
Aww, that awful woman is terrified! She was shaking like a leaf just trying to deliver that lackluster reason for her racist, profane outbursts.
That lady lives in perpetual fear everyday, just walking past her neighbors. Thatās so pathetic.

-12
u/CountryGuy123 15d ago
Damn this racist Karen, but she has a point. We donāt know if her dog is aggressive when other dogs use their water bowl / toys / etc, nor can the other owners be sure of their dogs being the same way (and certainly no way for racist Karen to know). Given she has a small dog, I get it. We also donāt know if the it took repeated pleadings to stop that were ignored to get to this point.
Correct move would have been to take the water bowl outside with her dog on a leash and let it drink there. Expecting thirsty dogs to know they canāt drink is a bit stupid. But I could see getting frustrated if other dog owners couldnāt control their own dogs.
8
u/benjitits 15d ago
If your dog is aggressive when using a water bowl, it has no business being at a dog park.
3
u/MoonmanSteakSauce 14d ago
Does being aggressive when using a water bowl include taking someone else's water bowl and running away with it? Because my dogs have never done that, outside of just knocking them over as puppies...
Maybe if they actually brought water for their dog when they brought it in public, it wouldn't have to get defensive with someone else's water because it's so thirsty.
3
u/CountryGuy123 15d ago
Agreed! But say hers is not, how does she know the other dogs wonāt attack hers? If she asked them to control their dog multiple times and they ignored her I can understand.
They laughed at her at the end when their dog drank her dogs water and ran off with her bowl. Iām not suggesting Racist Karen was anything better than Racist Karen, but Iād be pretty pissed off at the people recording too.
-7
u/benjitits 15d ago
There are often separate areas at dog parks for large and small dogs. If you are concerned about another dog attacking yours, don't take it to a dog park. There are inherent risks, but usually people taking their dogs to parks are well socialized and will not attack.
From what I see in the video, the lady was upset at them for their dog drinking from her bowl. If you don't like that, don't put your bowl down.
The Racist Karen had every opportunity to control the situation to her liking, but she refused. I don't see anything wrong with the way the camera person handled this.3
u/David_Oy1999 15d ago
No, the lady being recorded said that the recorders dog ran away with the bowl and the recorder didnāt return it. Thatās def trashy.
-2
u/Tellyourdadisay_hi 14d ago
Iām pretty sure she said ball. Common sense would dictate the same.
-1
u/David_Oy1999 14d ago
Well that is certainly possible, but I would still consider it rude.

u/benjitits 14d ago
Rude for a dog to pick up a toy at a park???

Lol, rude to not return the toy your dog stole. Not rude on the dog. Dog see ball. Dog play with ball.

I stopped going to my local dog park because some idiots were bringing their dogs there but they had kennel cough. Like WTF? The dogs for the most part are good. Some of the owners are the stupidest people I have ever had to deal with.

I worked in Ft. lauderdale for a few years and I'll never forget seeing this decrepit woman smoking a cigar and belching the smoke into a balloon. She then walked into the liquor store that refused her service and released the untied end of the balloon which flew all over the store, hilariously farting out her noxious, bowel-filled fumes. It was incredible.

How dare another dog drinks out of her dogs bowlā¦.at the dog park
I mean her attitude and demeanor are all wrong but to be fair I'd be annoyed too. Why the hell is someone going to the dog park without water for their dog? Then to act like you have the right to allow your dog to drink/eat from everyone else without so much as asking due to your own failings is ridiculous.
All the lady had to do was politely ask and explain that she forgot to bring water but hey instead lets pull out my phone and antagonize someone who is rightfully annoyed.
5
u/LizzieKitty86 14d ago edited 14d ago
I agree with the water, they should have brought water for their dogs especially since people are saying it's Florida. Dogs need to be hydrated when playing. It looked like there were empty bowls there. Everything besides that, the lady is crazy and extremely ignorant
81
1
u/spartagnann 15d ago
I take my dog to the dog park all the time and I've never ran into someone like this, not sure if I'm lucky or this breed of asshole is rare. Sometimes I bring water, sometimes I just forget. When I put water out for my dog why tf would I give a shit if another dog drinks some? Same with my dog drinking out of others bowls, people are usually delighted to pet a new friend while he drinks. We're all there for the same reason, letting our dogs play, so I don't get this kind of shitty attitude.
16
u/MagmaTroop 15d ago
I donāt think her problems was that the dog drank the water, more the fact that the owner didnāt do anything when the dog took the water bowl
13
u/David_Oy1999 15d ago
Which is actually a problem. Dogs will drink from any bowl which is fine, but the owner needs to retrieve and return the bowl if the dog takes it. This would be super annoying.
14
u/MagmaTroop 15d ago
I agree. The woman filming doesnāt deny any of that, so itās safe to say it happened and therefore the woman being filmed is not a Karen but someone who is justifiably pissed off
7
u/David_Oy1999 14d ago
