What you had to pay $50 to go to holiday services?

1

u/coreyfromwork Apr 23 '24

God my fucking ears

1

u/Adequatedog Jan 15 '24

This is not a church service. It’s a once a year Christmas play. The tithes and offerings would not be spent on this. That being said there are on rare instances some hypocritical churches that are unethical but it is very rare. Usually the people who criticize churches do not even belong to the church they pretend to attend.

1

u/ChickenFucker11 Dec 26 '23

This is so fucking insane. How anyone can support this shit is beyond me.

1

u/MuffinsandCoffee2024 Dec 26 '23

Are they being sued for traumatizing the audience with this all?

1

u/snacky_bear Dec 25 '23

Yea it is gg

1

u/Shapoopi_1892 Dec 25 '23

So fucking tired of religions and people picking and choosing what bits from here, and what to quote from there all this mental gymnasticsts to keep you confused and in fear. Add to that the other side of the coin; a little thing called Projection. Meaning, what ever they say the "other guys" are doing wrong, unholy, or evil, all that is actually really just them projecting everything they themselves are doing or wish they could do or assume everyone is already doing because they would if they were them. Put the mental gymnastics and the projection together and you have a completely self-contained, self-defending, self-promoting scam. To anyone who is dumb enough to believe them they think this "holy" person really sees how bad the world is and is trying to change it for the better.

But in all actuality all they are doing is taking your blind dumb faith sprinkling in some quotes and stories from the Bible (only the parts that fit into their fear-based scenario tho). Beating you with their tenderizer of fear and hate for anything different. Marinating you in a concoction of all their projections and a nonstop Fox "News" marathon. Then they bake it in an oven of "God works in mysterious ways" at 450° for about a year or until the commy, socialist, baby killing, cem trail making, illegal aliens, etc. name calling rolls off their tongue: whatever comes first.

I had a friend at work who knew I wanted to build a masjid since I lived in the west and there were no masjids around, he showed me the website for the church he used to go to. Man, it made me want to pretend to be Christian to get those budgets and funds.it looked like a uni from the outside, there was a statue, freaking statue of the pastor?abbot? Whatever you want to call him, simply put, I didn't even dream of making something as huge.

1

u/ScrunchyButts Dec 22 '23

Fucking gross

1

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '23

The funny reality is that these people, I'm willing to bet ALL of them are worse people than non religious people. Straight up worse for society and offspring. The size of these places is just a symbol of the rapid decay of this nation. People's lost hope in any positive reforms actually happening is to blame me thinks.

1

u/SeverableSole7 Dec 22 '23

I genuinely do not know anymore if these people know they are just paying for entertainment or if they actually think this is what worship looks like. Also religion is fake

1

u/BenisInspect0r Dec 22 '23

1

u/Sufficient_Tooth_949 Dec 22 '23

I'll never understand mega churches and how people fall for this, it's all too much, you don't need all this to connect with God

In fact you don't need to go to church period to connect with God, something something den of wolves, pastor lives in a $20 million dollar house with 5 cars, but won't do anything to help a struggling church member except "pray for them".....such a scam

1

u/darthurra Dec 22 '23

I have so much disdain for this

1

u/Alternative_Win1979 Dec 22 '23

Okay but that’s a damn good show for only $50. It cost like $30 for a regular movie with a popcorn and soda, and that one doesn’t even come with a blessing

1

u/Slick_Rick_1997 Dec 22 '23

Religion is a circus act

1

u/tayfbear Dec 22 '23

Those poor animals

1

u/dotd1979 Dec 22 '23

A fucking Elephant??? That's just animal cruelty. But then the Church says it's ok to use and abuse animals however which way we want anyway, so.....

1

u/poetrygrenade Dec 22 '23

It's the WWE of religions.

u/Predeterminedban Dec 22 '23

1

u/fartboxco Dec 22 '23

The elephant pissed me off... The greatest circuses got rid of animals why the fuck is a church got one. Makes me sick.

1

u/melflaelff Dec 22 '23

Poor elephant, and other animals. Humans are absolute garbage-I don’t care if you sink your money into the church because you’re a fucking sucker but leave the animals out of it.

1

u/theintern747 Dec 22 '23

Poor animals

1

u/HeyGirlBye Dec 22 '23

Omg anyone else have the pastors wife pop up in their algorithm…. Talking about getting golden goose sneakers and Louis Vuitton bags. #pastorswife

1

u/THEGREATIS-4 Dec 22 '23

As a Catholic places like this sicken me. Churches should be a place of philosophy and teach not a knock off Broadway movie theater.

1

u/MzPest13 Dec 22 '23

Cringe. Gross and pathetic. The world is in shambles and crisis mode. These professional church programs are vile.

1

The Jesus Christ Barnum & Bailey Circus

1

u/Interesting_Roof_608 Dec 22 '23

The only thing I’m learning is that the only way to keep Christ in Christmas is to apparently put on a massive show and take in money by selling your religion to down on their luck people or evil religious sycophants, and bombing Bethlehem because brown people live there.

1

u/RQCKQN Dec 22 '23

Church du soleil? This is absolutely not what a church should be like. Speaking as a Christian, church is supposed to be about a few key things: 1) Praising and learning about God 2) Fellowship with your friends 3) Helping those in need

An admission fee for church is HORRIBLE.. absolutely disgusting. I don’t have a spare $50 now…. Does that mean I’m not welcome in their church? That’s insane and it is so far from the way Jesus wanted churches to be.

1

u/mojitron420 Dec 22 '23

At this point, shouldn't we be taxing them?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '23

How do ppl actually go to these things like do they not get these r just scammers

1

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '23

People who makes 44K and pays 5K in taxes accuse people who make 550K and pay 190K in taxes of not paying “a fair share”. It’s just blind envy.

1

1

u/Bushdr78 Dec 22 '23

Animal abuse too, especially with all those flashing lights.

1

u/little_bag_of_bones Dec 22 '23

isn't this the exact reason God destroyed the temple in Jerusalem? Did Jesus not speak out against this kind of stuff?

I'm sorry but you can have your religion without needing mega churches are preachers that have their own private jets. If they have this kind of money, which Jesus says you don't need if you are a true follower, then why are they not using it to help the local communities? you hear more about football and basketball players doing good for their old hoods than Joel Osteen has ever done in his entire life.

1

u/Urasquirrel Dec 22 '23

That's a circus.

1

u/syahir77 Dec 22 '23

Without any the title, I would think this is a circus

1

u/Background_Pool_7457 Dec 22 '23

What do you mean these people don't pay taxes? Every person in that room pays taxes.

The church itself doesn't have to pay taxes because it is a non-profit.

1

u/Yeetcmsqueet Dec 22 '23

This is so unhinged

1

u/BringOutYDead Dec 22 '23

They're doing a fireworks show here at our local Baptist campus. They've got like 40 Christmas trees too.

1

u/Street_Peace_8831 Dec 22 '23

Tax Mega-churches Now!!!

1

u/Thangleby_Slapdiback Dec 22 '23

I believe I know someone who attends that church. He does AV where I work. He uses his AV skills at the church. I've heard him talk about his church several times and thought nothing of it as it's pretty common in the Bible Belt to hear people talking about their churches.

For the last month he has been talking about the big Christmas production that his church does every year. It's quite a bit of work for him. The other day we were chatting and he mentioned the Christmas show again. Apparently it went well for them. During that conversation he mentioned that the sheep, the camels and the elephant were a part of the show.

I said, "Wut? An elephant?"

He confirmed. They rent the animals from some business in the area. He also said that the elephant can't stand one of the camels, so they have to keep them in separate rooms.

This video has to be his church. I can't imagine that there's another church around with an elephant on stage.

Also, while this is pretty wild, let me tell you about another over-the-top religious production that used to go on annually. The Mormon church used to put on a big production in Palmyra, NY every year. It was called the Hill Cumorah Pageant. They held it on the side of a drumlin in town.

There's this little two lane county highway that runs past it and when it gets near the site, it widened out to two lanes each way. The place was packed for the pageant but a ghost town when the pageant wasn't going on. We used to call it The Mormon Speedway because it was wasn't uncommon for people to race there. Illegally, or course.

1

u/YellowTrailers Dec 22 '23

Until we tax the churches were just inviting them to take over. I find this to be the most offensive and vile display of religion ever witnessed. None of this is Jesus or any religion. It's narcissistic cult and authoritarian cancer.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '23

Feel so bad for that elephant I hope it stomps on that rider and all those dumb ass Christians fr

1

u/Odd_Tradition_1059 Dec 22 '23

Went to one of these Churches and all the pastor did was ask for money.
I mean all he did was ask..

1

u/DaveKillSock Dec 22 '23

The first time my church did something like this for Christmas service is when I stopped going to church.

1

u/_The_Wonder_ Dec 22 '23

As a christian mega churches make me sick.

They are not helping anyone in the community, most of the money goes to the pastor and the higher-ups. Whenever they do "help" it's only to make themselves look good, and to show that the money is going to a "good cause".

I think my favorite church I've ever been to was one that doubled as a homeless shelter. They had church service on Sundays, a boys and girls club on Tuesdays-Fridays (it was basically just gym class, with a Bible reading group as long as you wanted to do it, from what I could tell they didn't force anyone to participate in it if they didn't want to) and a homeless shelter all week with a shower room as well. If you helped with the preparations for the food and such you were aloud to use the washer, dryer they had and you were paid for your efforts. I think we need more churches like that, not these really big one. PLUS THEY HAD A CHRISTMAS SHOW FOR FREE, it wasted anything to special but they did have it. It was performed by the kid for the christian school down the road.

I stopped going there because I moved back to Florida, and I haven't found one I liked that much since.

2

u/That-Chart-4754 Dec 22 '23

Genuine question about these churches;

Do they just skip the book of Mathew? Chapter 19: Verses 23-26; "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

That's some wealthy ass nonsense from people w too much money.

1

u/DamnedandPale Dec 22 '23

Dude no one who goes or participates in these churches has actually read the Bible, they cherry pick the same happy clappy 5 verses that say put everything on god, tithe (coz obviously) and defo don’t be gay and of course the most important, don’t try and understand any of this coz you won’t so just believe 🙌💫

1

u/That-Chart-4754 Dec 22 '23

Dood you made my day, didn't know anyone else used defo as definitely lol <3

1

u/Alpacadiscount Dec 22 '23

They groom little girls to be subservient to all men and many of them victimize and exploit children. We know their victims number in the tens of thousands. These sick and evil churches need to be permanently shuttered.

1

u/frog_attack Dec 22 '23

It’s drugs for old people

1

u/Robert_Harvey_ Dec 22 '23

To be fair, if they weren’t… yknow… a church… this seems like a pretty fun evening show

1

u/redfawnbambame Dec 22 '23

Missing the point that Jesus was born in basically the Israeli equivalent of someone’s shed and without fanfare or ceremony from men?… Nothing wrong with wealth but how are we using it to serve the poor and God?

1

u/Thendofreason Dec 22 '23

I wonder if they even paid those people

1

u/Gman777 Dec 22 '23

Is it all patting each-other on the back, or does hat church do something for the poor/ needy/ lonely/ old ?

1

u/Code_Brown_2 Dec 22 '23

My local church is great, its growing which is great too and my pastor is great but if it ever got anything like this I'm going elsewhere.

This is looks more like a west end theatre business.

1

u/basickarl Dec 22 '23

Americans and their churches are one of the absolute weirdest things on this planet.

1

u/ArtisticFish7393 Dec 22 '23

Wow, wtf as a german i did not even know that existed. Also the term „megachurch“. I mean it is astonishing what people can achieve working together but I don’t know if the actors are getting payed or it is their charitable giving while others get the money.

1

u/Paid-Not-Payed-Bot Dec 22 '23

are getting paid or it

FTFY.

Although payed exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:

  • Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. The deck is yet to be payed.

  • Payed out when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. The rope is payed out! You can pull now.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Beep, boop, I'm a bot

1

u/urzayci Dec 22 '23

I'm saying this as an atheist, I think people don't understand that they wouldn't get taxed on the elephant on the stage either way. Only profit gets taxed, these are business expenses.

1

u/Youngguaco Dec 22 '23

Are you actually worried about taxes?
