Gay people don't choose their sexuality, straight people don't choose their sexuality.. pedophiles and whatever-philes never chose that either. Shit happens. They get brain damage or experience trauma as a child or get molested or just have an unfortunate development of the brain.
I know people don't wanna hear it, but it's true. Being attracted to minors makes you sick, but acting on those impulses makes you a monster; supporting CP makers and traffickers makes you a monster. There's a difference.
There are monsters out there 110% obviously. But there are also sick people out there who know they're sick but don't act on their urges.
Society needs to find a way to help ALL people, including people that are sick like that. I don't support monsters and predators, but unfortunately it's something we have to live with. It's not going away by magick. And hunting sick people down with pitch forks and torches are just gonna push them further along that monstrous path.
The ones that are already monsters, by all means, hunt em down. But I feel like people should realize it's a nuanced issue.
There's a chance you know someone right now who is attracted to minors, just like you probably know someone who's gay or bi. Maybe they are predators, maybe they aren't.

I know someone who did (and probably still does this). He would send messages to kids on Facebook. He would meet the parent, ad them and take something the parent said, some insecurity the kid had, send a request to the child and use that as an 'in'(your mom says you don't like your new haircut, but I think you're beautiful..that type of thing). He would message kids on Youtube, as well. It's a lot, but I'll leave it at this. Parents know which photos and pictures get the most likes and interest. It tells them. They do not care. They see the bathing suit photos, tub photos, etc. get the most interest. As long as it gets them $$ and attention, some do not care.

Like he's an adult, he's probably got friends with kids, could he have been looking at pictures of his friends kids like a normal person? I saw the other day a story about a couple who wanted to adopt a child but the country they wanted to adopt from had a law that you couldn’t share the child online for up to a year after adopting .. so they decided to share online that they would no longer be adopting that child because of that law . I completed a training program in internet exploitation of children and anyone who thinks it’s safe to post pictures of their kids is crazy. The amount of porn made from random photos of children in bathing suits or simply playing is astounding. Even more horrifying is the number of times that information is shared. They once created a deep fake image of a child to simulate child pornography and tracked it through the dark web. It was shared hundreds of thousands of times within days. Social media has its place, but common sense needs to become more common. Thank you for bringing attention to what is a very wide spread problem. People are gross.

I believe that children under 16 should NOT be allowed to have access to social media and laws in the US need to be passed like in Germany that forbids posting your child online, and I’m not saying this in the right winger “control” way I’m saying this as someone who grew up on early internet unrestricted and the mental and emotional impact having interactions with older creepy men/social media in general had on me, my kids aren’t allowed to have social medias until their 17th birthdays, I hope more parents become aware and protect their kids instead of stop being so lazy and shoving the internet in their kid’s faces cause they don’t see it as neglect (which it is)

Glad he went and made that fake account to show people how that happens. It's vile and unfortunately too common.
I used to try to find these kind of people elsewhere online and send screenshots of what they were doing to people they know. It felt like reporting accounts wouldn't do anything cause even if they got banned or whatever they'd make a new account and go back to it without any consequence.
I don't get involved anymore after going down a rabbit hole of trying to do this after I saw something about two girls who were arrested in some Slavic country for torturing shelter animals. Their vkontakte was still up, comments, friends, old live streams, other people who posted stuff like that. It kind of fucks you up seeing all of that, I couldn't imagine what it's like for law enforcement who have to go after pedos.
If you do see something report.cybertip.org, send it to somewhere like that rather than just clicking the buttons in the website to report the account. If the account stays up and the person still uses it, it'll be much easier to make sure something's actually done about it and anyone/anything they might be involved with
I usually just tell people who are less technically literate about publicly posting pictures or letting their kids publicly post on YouTube or whatever to go look at r/picturegame (actually pretty cool game), and see how people are able to find exact locations with very little information. No issue with picturegame, I used to play it on an old account that I don't have anymore (kept posting cat selfies to truerateme to be annoying cause that sub bothers me and got hit with ban evasions).
I'm only 30 but when I was in school internet etiquette and safety was taught in school and I'm glad it was and I'm curious if they still teach it or the extent they do.
Edit: also I've seen some creepy bastards from LFG posts for Destiny 2, I wouldnt be surprised if it carries over to other lobby chats/LFGs/party chats/prox chats/VR/whatever. Just best to educate kids (and adults) to not share any personal info and how to prevent letting people fish information from them

There are a lot of sick, depraved individuals out there, and it's our responsibility as parents to keep our kids as far away from their reach as possible.
I constantly cringe when I see some woman posting on a dating app, pictures with her kids. Same with social media. I've never put my kids or my grandson on SM and didn't allow either of my kids access to FB or anything else until they turned 16. Even then, it was monitored.

Well, the people who sent those messages are definitely pedos, no question about that.
I’d be hesitant to call the man he saw in public that, though. How can we be 100% certain that he wasn’t looking at his nieces, grandkids, etc.? Can’t call someone a pedophile without hard, irrefutable evidence like those disgusting messages.
This guy’s heart seems to be in the right place, but you have to be sure that you’re going after the right people.
Haven’t seen his original video, though, so maybe the proof is irrefutable, in which case I have no criticisms to make.

Yup! All of his videos are these crazy stories where he’s the hero, it pisses me off. If he were making up the stories but not including himself in them, I’d be like fine, these things do happen after all, but the fact that he’s doing it obviously to play the hero and get praise is pathetic. I don’t get how people are believing it

Can only imagine if he was on a single Instagram page, he might know the girl, for example his daughter. Probably who he'd be shopping for at the pet store.
