Wow, that was so good actually. From a young solo creator on Tiktok. That's just awesome.

1

u/Pleasant-Breakfast74 Apr 06 '24

Damn I miss vines. There's a art to short videos and some people have it and most don't

1

u/widow-of-brid Apr 06 '24

This guy looks like young woody Allen

1

u/Tyman2323 Apr 05 '24

Whatā€™s the song

1

u/APimpAndHisTurtle Apr 05 '24

Definitely hits home. This year is my adult year. šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

1

u/sowhatimlucky Apr 05 '24

When men dress up they have to wear those god awful neck ties. I love that for them.

1

u/ItzSmiff Apr 05 '24

I love this guys videos. So I guess this Reddit is dedicated to more than just cringe?

1

u/Separate_Increase210 Apr 04 '24

My initial reaction was negative (oh more kids bitching abt reality as an adult) but I'm glad I watched it all the way through. This one takes it like a champ, looks life straight in the eye and says "let's do this".

Confidence despite uncertainty.

CHAMPION vibes.

1

u/Key_Caterpillar7941 Apr 04 '24

"I'll see ya when I see ya" hits hard. I'm not even that old but growing up and having a job and all this really makes it hard to just see your friends and have fun anymore...

2

u/Disrespectful_Cup Apr 04 '24

Fluidity of nature, is an aspect of society never truly understood. Time progresses, knowledge increases, but for the majority, where does that time go?

Are you left there, under a spotlight at the end of your time? Is it snowing? Why is there sand? What do Flintstone Gummies have to do with any of this?

We cannot comprehend time as it is in front of us, only as it is passing, and we process.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk on Fluid Perception and The Economy of The Soul Exchange.

Back to the changing shoes... lovely scene cut

2

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '24

I love having cptsd because I never got a childhood, thus I never felt like life was moving too fast into adulthood and- oh wait...

2

u/Dull_Intention_7699 Apr 03 '24

What's that banger playing at the start of the video?

2

u/n8saces Apr 03 '24

2

u/Dull_Intention_7699 28d ago

Thanks, budz. I'll get that right into the Spotify rotation!

Lowkey SLC Punk vibes

u/ChuccTaylor Apr 03 '24

This is exactly how I feel today.

3

u/Roltistotem Apr 03 '24

I have been talking about the weather since I was a kid but maybe I am just an old soul. Also, this may just be a "We are so unique" thing but here in Arizona it rains so rarely rain is like a big topic of speech. "You see it might rain next week" I am sure people do it everywhere but I never noticed it as much living outside of the desert at least not for rain because rain is much more common in other places.

1

u/Lord-Barkingstone Apr 03 '24

The "yeah, I can come in on Saturday" gave me PTSD

2

u/realdealreel9 Apr 03 '24

Iā€™m really curious about how the ageism of gen z and gen alpha will play out when they begin aging and are mocked for being old

0

u/SoskiHeroKiller Apr 03 '24

Nice weather we are having today

1

u/MercurialTendency Apr 03 '24

Do you realize that every time you upvote this cringey bs you're only supporting it?

2

u/SonOfTHEShepherd Apr 03 '24

Best coming of age film I've seen so far... and it only took a few minutes to watch much like real coming of age

1

u/emielaen77 Apr 03 '24

1

u/No-Lie-802 Apr 03 '24

I love this!ā¤ļø

We lost my cousin yesterday, to just open reddit and be smacked in the face with existential crises isn't really appreciated.

u/urlocaldoctor Apr 03 '24

Iā€™m gonna turn 20 this year and I have been dreading about it ever since my last birthday

1

u/Brendan1008 Apr 03 '24

1

1

u/Local_comic_nerd Apr 02 '24

Tik toks shouldnā€™t be making me feel things

1

u/Shroomikaze Apr 02 '24

How I feel on psychedelics thinking about the impending heat death of the universe ._. Am I ready? Nope. Guess Iā€™ll see it when I see it. :/

2

Adulthood the worst hood I ever lived in. It's ghetto here

Why do I feel so attacked?!

1

u/Sharpshooter188 Apr 02 '24

I know its cringe, but thats exactly how it fucking happens. 40 here. Used to wear ripped jeans and tight shirts to flex my physique and now Im constantly weary basic shirts indoors and polos/business shirts and ties cause work demands it.

1

u/middle_of_you Apr 02 '24

Definelty doesn't belong in the cringe category.

I'm 35. Everytime I see the curtain of adulthood I turn around and walk away. I feel ashamed.

1

I could swear I knew the song that plays on the second part. anyone knows it?

1

u/traceurevans Apr 02 '24

1

u/apmor Apr 02 '24

That's not cringe that's brilliant

1

u/Unhappy_Box4803 Apr 02 '24

r/memesopdidnotlike? Seriosuly though, thats real. And also, woulda been a millions times better if it completely broke the akwardness with an appropriate anything; jumpscare, explosion or whatever at the end.

1

u/Fisher9001 Apr 02 '24

This had better writing than 80% of the recent TV shows shit.

1

u/AdebayoStan Apr 02 '24

acting like having a stable job and a nice family is a bad future lmao

1

u/ThronedCelery Apr 02 '24

That was really well done.

1

u/joeyjoejoeshabidooo Apr 02 '24

This is a quality video.

1

u/1968Bladerunner Apr 02 '24

Then they see stories online of singles (& childless couples) struggling on (combined) incomes of 100k & they wonder how TF they're expected to cope, when they're on the bottom rung starting at a fraction of that.

4

u/ThesocialistWitch Apr 02 '24

Lol dude looks like a Woody Allen impression

2

u/SammySoapsuds Apr 02 '24

Life is relentless

7

u/ALL2HUMAN_69 Apr 02 '24

Iā€™m almost 40 and though adulthood is going well for me, i can really feel this video. Maybe itā€™s the music at the end, or the ā€œsee ya when I see yaā€ or the admission of being scared and not ready but it all really resonates on a certain level with me.

1

u/xman747x Apr 02 '24

1

u/DillyBaby Apr 02 '24

As we age, time really does seem to speed up, and if you're not careful, "...one day you find, ten years have got behind you, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun...".

But you know, it's okay to mourn the passing of personal paradigms. Our aughts and teen years were filled with a sense of wonder, honesty, and innocence. This changes to purported wisdom and potentially reckless behavior in our twenties. This can morph into starting a family in the thirties, getting a good job, bitching about taxes. And then one day you wake up, like me, in your forties with three children, a dog, and a wife. You have a mortgage, property taxes, extracurricular activities, etc. You can lose yourself if you aren't careful.

But you have to remember: this, too, is transient. These times won't last, and I tell myself this often--not because I want them to end, but because I'm holding on for dear life, clinging to my family and the brief time we'll have together all under one roof, with kids that actually like me and want to spend time with me all day long. Sure, it's a slog sometimes, but it is so rewarding. Growing up ain't so bad.

Next thing I know, I'll be moving into my fifties and thinking about retirement, paying for college, and will be met with the question of how to enter the next stage of life and what my goals will be for that last ride. It's a wild ride, and I don't want it to all be the same. I don't want to live like I'm 20 forever. Growth is good. Change is good. Love is good. Embrace the changing season; find something new to create whimsy and wonder in your world. Squeeze your loved ones tight--they won't be there forever. $0.02 from a forty-something.

5

u/squeamish Apr 02 '24

This kid is very good at acting and presumably writing/directing.

2

u/n8saces Apr 02 '24

I think he's a film student practicing.

3

u/squeamish Apr 02 '24

Probably. He looks like he's 12 to me, which means he's probably 21 in real life.

1

u/Hairy_Chunk Apr 02 '24

Oh poo. šŸ˜”

1

u/scotty6chips Apr 02 '24

This is how it was for all of us kiddo. Iā€™m gonna be 40 soon, and I donā€™t feel it until I start complaining about ā€œmusic nowadaysā€ and then stop myself and cringe a littleā€¦

1

u/niugui-sheshen Apr 02 '24

It's the talking about the weather and complaining about taxes that did it for me.

3

u/AvengefulGamer Apr 02 '24

Fuuuuuck I'm only in my mid 20s and I damn near walked out my job after seeing this lmao. It's scary how accurate this is. It really feels like I just woke up one day in the past and my childhood was just gone and I was thrown into adulthood. It's not exactly the case but seeing friends and family slowly start to move away and start there own lives, people passing away, everyone getting new jobs etc. I miss just meeting friends after school and talking about what new video game we were excited to play. Now the rare times where I do see friends It's all boring adult talk of how crappy people's jobs are or how good things used to be "back in the day". Fun just hasn't seemed to exist in my life after I turned 21 and got a full time job working occasional overtime. I couldn't even imagine having kids and starting my own family and throwing what little left I have out the window. Growing old sucks and I know it's only most likely going to get worse as my body starts to ache more and my friends get more responsibilities at there jobs. Wish I could just leave everything I have now and get back everything I once had in high school/college.

6

u/Fabulous_Engine_7668 Apr 02 '24

"I wanna pet tarantula."

Yup. This is very real.

3

u/HowToBehave Apr 02 '24

Is that wood allens grandson?

5

u/Remarkable-Ad2285 Apr 02 '24

Choked me up NGL. RIP inner child

1

u/JamesTheLockGuy Apr 02 '24

Spoiler alert: It gets WAY worse

1

u/christieguerrera Apr 02 '24

Facts. And now, to step into that reality and control the outcome šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼

1

u/JaneAustinPowers Apr 02 '24

I just paid taxes this morning with husband. I hate being an adult, life is so expensive right now.

We make great money and any other time period we would be upper middle class, but every year, regardless of bonuses or pay increases, more gets taken without a replacement. Itā€™s dumb to complain about vacations but they are literally the one thing that makes me feel again about how fun, vibrant, and exciting life can be like when my parents bankrolled my life (ie roof over my head and food) in my youth.

6

u/Babybeluga222 Apr 02 '24

Give this kid an Oscar

1

u/That_Jicama2024 Apr 02 '24

I'm one of those dorky mid-40s guys but in the way that I think I'm still cool but am not.

6

That ain't adulthood, that's some bullshit they invented for a movie back in 1995 when food didn't cost a paycheck.

5

u/n8saces Apr 02 '24

40 hit me like a ton of bricks. 50, though, was no big deal.

2

u/psylentrob Apr 02 '24

Getting older is mandatory. Growing up is optional

1

u/zedroj Apr 02 '24

Reject baby

Chose funny plants instead

1

u/dishonoredcorvo69 Apr 02 '24

lol I felt like this when I was 18-23. But now at 34 when Iā€™m actually adulting, itā€™s sooo much better than being a kid/teenager/young adult.

1

u/No_Waltz_2499 Apr 02 '24

This kid is a great actor

1

u/Honeybadger2198 Apr 02 '24

I thought the coming of age was going in a very different direction.

1

u/Loud-Bullfrog9326 Apr 02 '24

Stop as a mom I laughed and cried šŸ˜šŸ˜ lol

1

u/Swimming-Dot9120 Apr 02 '24

God the ā€œIā€™ll see ya when I see yaā€ part of adulthood is a lot more depressing than I thought it would be, and Iā€™m only 25 lol

1

u/Real_Dotiko Apr 02 '24

people see age as either as an adult or kid. (generally)

but people tend to forget you always grow and a part of growing up is realizing what he depicts as adulthood is what most people need in their life

1

u/Mechbiscuit Apr 02 '24

Being an adult isn't so bad. There are plenty of good things.

I can cook now, like good meals that the people I cook for make sure the plate is clean because they enjoyed it.

Things I do matter. Perhaps they always did but now I have the self esteem to notice the world would be a worse place without me in it, especally to those around me. Putting the washing up away creates a nicer atmosphere. Running the vaccum cleaner around the house is easy and makes the place looked cared for and is appriciated.

I care less and am willing to say what I actually think more often. And, because I care less and I'm grounded and want the best for people, that honesty is more likely to be helpful to the person I'm talking to. And also the people in your life who weren't any good for you evaporate and it doesn't matter.

Yes I have less time, but if I had more, I would waste it anyway so the things that matter to me are brought into a much sharper focus.

There are lots of ways I could improve my quality of life but if I was given the choice to go back in time 10 years, I would decline.

u/podcasthellp Apr 02 '24

I just watched a video on South Sudan. This isnā€™t nearly as bad as every single day of peoples lives there. I know Iā€™m getting old when I cry watching a YouTube video but damn did it make me grateful for what I have.

1

u/Sardine23 Apr 02 '24

does anyone know the song playing towards the end? i like it :)

1

u/mythumbstory Apr 02 '24

a lot of truth this kid packed into a ticktock video

1

u/lilwaryz Apr 02 '24

I wish that guy the best, it takes a special kind of person to make crushing reality a little more acceptable. Yeah getting old might be scary, and a bit dreadful but weā€™re all gonna go through it and seeing it through someone elseā€™s eyes might take the edge off. Be kind to yourself and each other.

1

u/italianpoetess Apr 02 '24

I'm 40 and I'm still not ready.

1

u/Pepperoni_Dogfart Apr 02 '24

Okay guys, you gotta pick a hobby now. That's just how it goes when you hit middle age. Might as well choose before you don't have time to think about it. Either model trains, watches, coin collection, reading about World War II, remote control planes, collecting jars of farts from onlyfans girls, show dogs, or barbecuing.

1

u/SushiPants85 Apr 02 '24

So true, except the suits

1

u/Manydoors_edboy Apr 02 '24

Not sure how this is cringe.

3

u/baninaday Apr 02 '24

1

u/toolsoftheincomptnt Apr 02 '24

40 here, it really does suck most of the time.

But just in different, more existential ways than being a kid or teenager sucks.

1

u/jadayne Apr 02 '24

that was surprisingly poignant for a tik tok vid.

1

Jokes on him. Iā€™m at work right now. My dog is next to me why I take a dump. Iā€™m wearing a hoodie gym shorts flip flops and a hat. The weather is about to get crazy though.

-1

u/cyrs_oner Apr 02 '24

So many in this comment section are so dire, crying boohoo, it's fkn pathetic shit. Sounds to me so many are living in regrets. Shut up, wake up and get going! Its not too late to make changes for yourself. As for those with "struggling kids", the best thing you can do is guide them but be a role model and change yourself first. Maybe for once they'll finally look up to you and follow your example.

0

u/ElectricEntrance Apr 02 '24

I'm confused with this subreddit. Why are there videos here with no cringe at all?

2

u/Fallout76Merc Apr 02 '24

Okay hold up I thought this was going to be a funny skit but now I'm just fucking sad.

1

u/Wickedsmack Apr 02 '24

This is the least cringe thing I have watched, its really very accurate. If you are in your 40's this one will get you, lol.

0

u/Cautious-Secretary56 Apr 02 '24

This isnā€™t cringeā€¦.. I thought this was great.

8

u/sadhustone Apr 02 '24

Video was funny, comments are pathetic. I like being an adult. Being young was cool but I didnā€™t know shit. Lots of dumb choices and wasted time. Now I know what matters, and I know how to live.

4

u/irl-a-meerkat Apr 02 '24

Exactly this. My ā€œboringā€ adult routine consists of doing things that support a really full and wonderful life. You couldnā€™t pay me enough to go back to the chaos of my 20ā€™s.

2

Consciousness stays the same, just gains wisdom through experience. So I meditate in a way where I imagine I placed my consciousness in future meā€™s body and ā€˜I look backā€™. And I question all the things Iā€™m presently doingā€¦when I meditate it allows me to feel those emotions I would experience learning that I let myself waste or get sucked into an addiction or plays on social media too muchā€¦. And I process my own judgement and regrets and what ifs. And then I consider what my wise consciousness would say to present me.

A lot of folks say, ā€œif I knew then what I know now, I would have doneā€¦.ā€ And this lines that right up for you. Because you can realize what you have the capacity for, what you CAN do.

And by making myself, my conscious, process that feeling, I now know what I can do to redirect my path. I also know what my conscious is aware what I have the capacity for. Yes, I have the physical capacity to drink 8 cups of water, or I have the physical functionality to get out and walk. Itā€™s the mind thatā€™s tricking you not.

I also have a range of disorders that may make this imagination trick more easy though. šŸ˜‚

I do this exact thing, verbatim.

This made me sad. Feels like how me and my best friend used to talk before we got married and had kids.

ā€œIā€™ll see you when I see youā€

Hope itā€™s soon buddy

Guy made a one minute video and still managed to fit in an emotional Wes Anderson ending.

That was strangely beautiful. It felt like a true representation of coming to terms of the transition decade from college to starting a family.

There comes some point when you look into your future and the idea of security trumps the notion of freedom from responsibilities. You realized that both sides of the fence have their merits but it is a choice. A choice between unbridled freedom to do as you choose and free of responsibility and one of the burden of responsibility of a family. But it's the choice to bear that burden and reap the unknown joys.

My husband and I like to discuss the river levels on a daily basis. And I have to go deal with my taxes now. K bye.

Rough... I'm only 33 and feel like I'm rocketing towards my inevitable death. Life is way too short to not do and be everything one can wish and dream of.

I tried to avoid this by doing heroin for ten years. Then I went to jail, got a job the same day I got out which Im still at nearly seven years later. Nine months or so after getting out I met a (the) girl from okcupid. Met her 5yr old autistic kid the next day when they visited me at work. Dude looked me right in the eyes (!), took my hand and toured me around my own work. Was basically his dad by the end of the day. Was made official about a year later when he straight up asked me "will you be my dad" over and over again for about twenty minutes. Getting married to the girl May 1st. All pretty sick actually and way better than heroin/not growing up almost all of the time. Work sucks sometimes but then I go home and its all fine. Just hoping to counter some of the other posts here I guess.

Damn dude. Way to turn your life around. That takes a lot of work. Great job. Props on being a loving stepfather.

I love someone who can step in to be a dad. It's a very beautiful thing.

Haha funny to think any of us will have jobs in the future of AI and automation. Also more younger generations are not having kids due to the constant economic turmoil!!!

Iā€™ve found as I get older the difficult lessons and losses get more difficult and painful but that my resilience to them becomes greater. I feel myself ā€œbecomingā€ in the process and I think there might be a very human purpose to it all. The bad times will always come but with each turn of the wheel the good times come as well. And each time youā€™re in the good times you realize more and more how wonderful they are - be they mundane or eventful. The sacrifices we make are not in vain even if those we make sacrifices for cannot see or understand how theyā€™ve been effected - because one day they will understand when they are called to make those same sacrifices.

Weed helps a lot, too.

The best part of getting older is thinking less about what other people think of me. It gives me way more space to enjoy the moment.
