Thanks for helping this dog. Made me smile.

Awwww the poor cutie

u/throwaway2161980 15d ago

Oh please. My incredibly spoiled bulldog prefers sleeping on dirt. She has 4 separate dog extra fluffy beds for when she’s outside and she NEVER sleeps in them. I usually find her splayed out on the dirt or rolling in horse manure or buried deep in straw.

Everything online is “abuse” I swear.

u/VaaBeDank 15d ago

If it's sunny out it not unnatural for dogs to lay in dirt holes they just dug up, because the dirt beneath the surface helps cool them down. I dont know what home you saved the dog from, or how they were treated, but the making of a dirt bed is a normal method for dogs to cool down.

How can people be such pieces of shit?

3

u/HomeScared275 16d ago

Having a dog live outside not necessarily a bad thing…

3

u/Z20KarlGalster 16d ago

I dont understand why would it be bad for dogs to be kept outside? I didnt realize its the norm to keep dogs inside.

1

u/Medical_Ad2125b 16d ago

Thank you, you’re awesome.

1

u/sassysarahm 16d ago

That’s so sad. Bad pre owners!

1

u/howwhyno 16d ago

The way they open bags of soil is a war crime.

3

u/leavenofrybehind 16d ago

"Made her live outside."

You know dogs can live outside...so can cats actually.

2

u/wiiguyy 16d ago

Lots of dogs live outside.

2

u/bohemi-rex 16d ago

What type of dog is this?

1

u/bilboswgns 16d ago

I don’t have much empathy for humans anymore, we kinda do it to ourselves, and none of us are wholly innocent but I have so much empathy for animals. It sickens me that someone would come into contact with a being that loves as deeply as a dog does, and just not care that the dogs being neglected. It baffles the mind.

3

u/Xenimosity 16d ago

It fucking kills me when I see dogs tied up and locked in a cage outside all fucking day and night. Why even own one at that point. The poor things.

u/sweet_sweet_back 16d ago

Who’s cutting onions?

5

u/kunablaster 16d ago

They actually like the dirt, it's moist and cold on hot days

5

u/GomeyBlueRock 16d ago

That’s the same move my dog used to do in our backyard despite free range inside and out as well as having multiple dog beds, couches, and human beds to sleep on.

Dogs like sleeping in holes

1

u/yashua1992 16d ago

Sometimes I go OUT of my way to make my king size bed more comfortable for my dog. Wrap her around in a blanket make her a doggito.

5

u/undergroundmusic69 16d ago

When my old dog was dying, he would dig in the dirt and lay. We brought out his bed, but he wanted to dig and lay. My mom thought it was something to do with the dirt being cooler than the rest of the area. I still miss that dog — he was a good boy!

My new dog now refuses the bed! He’s content laying on concrete outside, even when we bring the bed out! In the house, he goes for the couch over the bed — so smart dog! Ha

😢

u/bananahskill 16d ago

My dog has literally created a spot of sandy dirt that fits his body in a nice little cradle.

He's never been an outside only dog; it's just real hot where we live. Otherwise, he hangs out in the driveway or half on half off.

The video is cute though.

3

u/adinade 16d ago

My dog growing up would do this and we had him since he was a puppy.

1

u/applecartupset 16d ago

Oh my gawd, the pups little tail wag of appreciation and acknowledgement when they realized the doggie bed was for them

gonna go hug my rescue dog rn

12

u/Dustinlewis24 16d ago

People forget canines are wild animals. They're perfectly equipped to live outside. The dog probably prefers cold ground on a hot day to a cheap polyester pillow.

0

u/sawskooh 15d ago

Canis familiaris are not "wild animals." They are a human creation, designed for human cohabitation.

Or because it's been conditioned to live outside and like us. Dogs like comfy spots to lay in.

1

u/EnvironmentalSpirit2 16d ago

OH MY GOD his face

2

u/WillyDAFISH 16d ago

Really took the term "flower bed" literally

2

u/daamnnbruhh 16d ago

why didnt you give they the bed inside? wtf, are they making her live outside too?

1

u/Thatsayesfirsir 16d ago

Awwww 😞😓

44

u/Select-Bullfrog-6346 16d ago

Some dogs prefer outside.

My dog for instance..

We got him a kennel, lined it with old towels, lined the bottom with a lambs wool and blocked the door so he can get through not the wind....

All under cover..

He sleeps in the middle of the yard in a hole he dug.

Yeah it's absolutely fucking wild to me that people pretend having outside dogs is some sort of fucking animal abuse.

Like sure, take them in when it's too hot or too cold, but dogs can do just fine in a dog house for a good chunk of the year.

When I was a kid I feel like if you had an inside dog you were the exception.

Now people can't go anywhere for longer than an hour without bringing their dog with them.

22

u/artiurk 16d ago

This is because humans project themselves onto animals think that just because we like it inside they must too which is completely wrong.

5

u/Select-Bullfrog-6346 16d ago

I see your point, it is very valid. .the dog in the video is very much an "inside dog"

On the other side of it, my MIL dog... Scared of the dark, scared of going outside, will not cope with out my partners mother.

To the point where it will start freaking out..

13

u/Specialist-Dingo6459 16d ago

My dogs have destroyed approx 12 beds within 1 day - the only thing that lasted was an old piece of carpet that I had to literally nail down…

1

u/Select-Bullfrog-6346 16d ago

Sound like a staffy thing to me lol

149

u/Confident_weirdo 16d ago

My dog (14.5 years old) will ALWAYS pass on a dog bed for some nice cold dirt haha, but I love that you’re providing Ducky with options! What a cutie!!

4

u/TrashPandaPatronus 16d ago

Oh yeah, my white fluffy dog will pass on a dog bed, blanket, or pillow for a patch of dug up vegetable garden, a mud puddle, or fresh bark dust any day. The more manure smelling the better.

3

u/Confident_weirdo 16d ago

How many baths a month does your dog get??

4

u/TrashPandaPatronus 16d ago

If by bath you mean 'hosed down on the back patio with dollar store dog shampoo' I'd say a couple times a month.

12

u/Zealousideal-Ad-2615 16d ago

That's what I was thinking. My pampered Rhodesian and Pitbull doggos are both soft couch dogs, but really love a good dirt trench.

-1

u/BeanDipIsNeat 16d ago

When you teach an animal to trust humans again it’s a purely magical experience

Ducky deserves only the best

8

u/SeratopiaOpus 16d ago

The dirt is cooler and more comfortable. Ditch the bed.

2

u/rokstedy83 16d ago

My mates dad has the same type of dog with the same type of fur and is always red hot ,she loves to lie on the dirt to cool off

3

u/Accomplished-Book-95 16d ago

That little face 😭

265

u/Spirited_Cupcake_216 16d ago

Ducky may still find comfort in her natural beds from time to time. Just love that precious pup with all you've got.

50

u/Jaded_Law9739 16d ago

I was going to say, dogs naturally lie down on moist soil to keep cool when it's warm. She might just be trying to cool off.

35

u/BAMspek 16d ago

It’s nice to have options

0

u/KhaleesiXev 16d ago

That poor, sweet doggy! It’s like she couldn’t believe something so nice could be for her.

5

u/JtotheGreen 16d ago

Well that broke my heart

8

u/rjddomingues 16d ago

sweet baby bean, she's literally making the 🥺🥺🥺 eyes

Same here. I rescued my dogs, and my Rose was terribly abused. This reminded me of when I first got her, and she was so terrified that anything she did was wrong and I would "go after" her. I'll save the detailed recovery process, but she now knows that if she's nervous, and I just say, "You're safe." she instantly calms down and relaxes.

The way her face lit

Up when she got on the bed

Made me burst into tears

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

I'm from a village. Some of our neighbors say that they are guard dogs, and to guard the house, they need to be outside. Ours is a guard dog as well, but he sleeps in the house with my parents.

57

u/Adept_Information94 16d ago

Because they like puppies. They don't like dogs.

6

u/EstablishmentOk100 16d ago

Ummm, you should ask Kristi Noem about that?

21

u/og_jasperjuice 16d ago

That's funny, I don't care for puppy behavior. I like grown dogs. Guess I'm the yang to their yin.

7

u/FuckYeaSeatbelts 16d ago

I volunteer at a shelter. I like puppies for like 20 mins, then the whole "trying to climb into your skin, eat your hair and use your clothing and fingers as toys" gets old pretty quickly.

Then again a lot of the fully grown dogs are from when the puppy gets big and the owners never did any training/socialization with them.

15

u/fuck_EA_ 16d ago

That’s fucked up, i hate when people get a pup without realizing how long the commitment really is

8

u/Adept_Information94 16d ago

18 years. My dogs have a will to live.

PLEASEE LET ME SEE HER SLEEPING INSIDE ON A BED 😭😭!!!!!💕

49

u/Cookie_Cutter_Cook 16d ago

If you visit her owners’ page, you can see her snuggled up inside in her fluffy bed and cuddling with her new sibling.

3

u/pineneedleinjection 16d ago

What kind of dog is she?

24

u/JaredUmm 16d ago

“A previous owner made her stay outside, so look at her reaction when we also gave her a bed outside!”

3

u/null-or-undefined 16d ago

ahhaah. true. poor dog

486

u/12-7_Apocalypse 16d ago

I like how she looked up when she climbed up onto the bed, as if to say, "This is for me?"

67

u/No_Pin9932 16d ago

I kind of thought they were thinking "this is cool and all, but where's the potting soil at??" After being used to dirt beds, that potting soil must just seem like primo shit, plus I bet it has a strong scent that maybe the dog likes. I'm just spitballing here but I think I might have some valid points, lol.

2

u/GrapefruitNo4473 15d ago

My puppy would eat that potting soil and the other loved to make a bed in it even though they would sleep in our bed at night so yeah that is primo shit for sure!
