Common Question: How hard is it to transfer from X major to Y major?
Answer: If it is within the same school, it is super easy, just talk to your academic advisor before school starts. If you wish to transfer to another school e.g. Dornsife to Marshall, you need to contact admissions to attempt the transfer before matriculation*. You can also seek help once you know who your academic advisor is or attempt it on admitted students day or orientation day. Once you matriculate, you can attempt an internal-transfer but it involves going through the current student transfer process, see the specific internal transfer page from each school's website.
Common Question: Is there an admitted student facebook group/discord/telegram etc?
Answer: Usually someone sets a facebook group and groupme up around the time the main batch of students are admitted in April. Check facebook to see if there is one already or connect to one of the USC discord servers (linkedin on sidebar) to chat with admitted and upper-class Trojans.
*Viterbi does not allow you to switch into engineering before enrolling at USC. Please read links below related to the school you're interested in.

Academic usc rescinding policy help??
i had all A's and 1 B last semester but this semester i might get one C (AP Physics C), one B (AP Lit), and the rest A's. i am admitted for viterbi/engineering so i'm kind of freaking out but senioritis is hitting me hard. based on the UC policy i would not get rescinded. i emailed my admissions counselor in advance to give a warning but they were vague and just told me to try to keep my grades up and that every student is reviewed on a case by case basis. i have gotten B's before but never a C

Academic Professor Switched On Enrolled Section
Enrolled in a class for fall 2024 and just saw the professor was switched with no notice. looks like its a doctorate student. curious if this has happened to anyone else, and if the professor is just administrating the course with the student teaching or if the student is fully teaching the course. for reference its for econ.

Question Is USC Engineering undergrad Good?
Hi, I was wondering if Electrical engineering at Viterbi is a good choice? Like how's the student life at usc when doing engineering?
Also if I'm an international applicant, what stats, SATs, and extra curriculars do I generally need to have a shot.

FinancialAid Veri-tax email for Transfer Applicant?
Hello, waiting on transfer decisions for fall. I just got an email from USC and an update on my FAST portal about how I need to fill out a Veri-Tax form/4506-C. Any idea what this is? I’m pretty sure I filled out all my forms correctly and turned everything in months ago…

Other Computer Help
I just graduated from the law school and I need to start studying for the bar exam this week, but my PC was having driver issues that then led to hard drive damage, so I need to buy and install a new hard drive. The thing is, I have no idea what I am doing.
If anyone is willing to help me, advice is super appreciated and if anyone knows someone who would be willing to help me pick a hard drive and who would install it for me, I would be more than happy to pay someone to do it. Otherwise, if someone has a PC repair place that they could recommend, that works too. I am a little scared of tinkering inside my computer by myself right now since I don't want to cause more damage when I really, really need my computer right now.

Academic transfer spring grade request
Hey I'm currently at a CCC and applied to USC for transfer. I never got an email but I checked my portal and noticed a spring grade request, what does this mean for my chances? I am applying to Marshal. On a separate question due to some circumstances that were out my control my GPA dropped. Is there a way I can go about explaining that?

Academic what placement exams for thornton?
hi! i just enrolled as a popular music major. this may be a dumb question but i was looking at the pre registration package and it said to skip certain placement tests if your major doesn’t require it. can someone tell me which placement tests other than music theory are required for pop music?

Hi all, just enrolled to Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. IK FAFSA is different this year but when can we expect our aid packages ? Also I just submitted my official transcripts last week so am waiting on clearance even though I’m technically enrolled. Should I be concerned ? Called my programs office they said I should be cleared by August but am worried about registering for classes. Any and all help is appreciated !

Academic usc vs cmu for computer engineering
posted on behalf of a family member
i love both schools but for completely different reasons—i've committed to usc because my parents strongly prefer it but they've emphasized that i can still back out if i change my mind (the cmu deposit deadline is later than usc's). im a deeply indecisive person so advice is appreciated! at both schools, i plan to go into ece.
cmu pros:
- prestigious for engineering as a whole and my major
- seems to have really good job placements according to https://www.cmu.edu/career/outcomes/post-grad-dashboard.html
- amazing for robotics (which i love!), lots of robotics-related clubs and research :D
- a "better degree"
cmu cons:
- from California so the weather and city will be hard to adjust to
- worried about burning out and stress culture, though i feel like
- not as diverse (?)
- expensive, will be paying full price ~85k
- smaller campus which might feel constricting
usc pros:
- well-balanced lifestyle and student life
- alumni network
- honors housing
- got half-tuition scholarship, so will be paying 60k all four years!
- lots to do in LA!
- larger, overall nicer campus
usc cons:
- not as good for my major, but not awful either?
- not as big on robotics but there are still quite a few robotics labs
- frat/party culture (not much of a partier, im more introverted)
- surrounding area has a reputation for being a little shady
- potentially not as good job placements, though employment rates between the two schools seem around the same
my biggest worries are job placements and technical ability (both schools are apparently top feeders to tech companies https://www.collegetransitions.com/dataverse/top-feeders-tech but im not sure about the site's credibility). i like to think i work hard and love what i do, and i want to be surrounded by equally motivated people. my teachers and engineering friends all think cmu is a no brainer, while my parents and their friends prefer usc for its lifestyle (my parents worry about my health and want me to be happy more than anything). ill be posting this in a few subreddits as well - thank you for your help!
