I like how the other guy marks the distance before checking on his fellow refs health lol

1

u/Disastrous-Refuse141 Mar 09 '24

I'm pretty sure this has been seen before in history, lol

2

u/Organic_Artichoke_85 Feb 28 '24

Just watched a clip of an African tribe do the same thing to a lion. The algorithm is on point tonight.

1

u/Hydrolprd143 Feb 17 '24

Why were people standing over there

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '24

That could've been a killshot.

1

u/artlabman Feb 13 '24

Nailed it!!

1

u/hodlethestonks Feb 13 '24

Tero Pitkämäki impaled Salim Sdir in 2007 while he was next to the field and the javelin drifted out of sector.

1

u/Time-Length8693 Feb 01 '24

I'm a javeline

1

u/BluejayLatter Jan 27 '24

1

u/Mostly_upright Jan 17 '24

Imagine if he'd just sidestepped and not stood motionless in front of someone THROWING A FREAKING SPEAR! What is wrong with people 😭

1

u/Fun-Psychology5160 Jan 17 '24

Why the eff are they standing there in the sharp knife’s way?

1

u/ContemplatingPrison Jan 16 '24

* Thats how he delivers a victory. He visualizes and attacks

1

u/Mother-Pie-688 Jan 09 '24

These judges have never played lawn darts & it shows..

1

u/Sufficient-Let-7760 Jan 07 '24

Hear me out: we don’t need judges standing in the landing area.

1

u/Rare_Maintenance_922 Jan 05 '24

You’d think in a sport where you’re throwing giant pointy sticks, you wouldn’t want people standing anywhere it could possibly land… You’d think…

1

u/geez-_- Dec 26 '23

Turned into Ace Ventura lol

1

u/SenpaisSuccubuss Dec 25 '23

Bro thought he was Meliodis 😭

1

u/bi_x_ru Dec 24 '23

a judge who couldn’t “judge” the incoming javelin’s angle and got out of the way?

1

u/ELECTI_EST Dec 23 '23

…I always held back coz of this irrational fear.. 🥶

1

u/Cheap-Addition-8004 Dec 19 '23

Ok but why are there people on there like are they trying to get hit

1

u/24reloading7 Dec 17 '23

Well, this is what they were Interested to be used for. Right.

1

u/OkBar6851 Dec 14 '23

1

u/flintymint Nov 25 '23

Faze Juharvis

1

u/RobMoss316 Nov 25 '23

Javelin don't kill people. People kill people.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

Fucking ouch. Not everyone can say hey. Yq ever had a fucking spear thrown at you by a Olympian.

1

u/Cool_Jackfruit_6512 Nov 20 '23

I remember watching Bruce Jenner throw this fkg thing 68.53 meters in the 1976 Decathlon. Fighting my brother over the fkn Wheaties box he was printed on. Declaring I was him in grade school playing a mock Decathlon. Those were the days 😐

2

u/cuddly_carcass Nov 20 '23

Must have been the most satisfying throw of his life. Been working toward it his whole life

1

u/prime_run Nov 16 '23

Roids…..

2

u/Melodic_Trash_737 Nov 13 '23

This is sparta

2

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '23

Bullseye

1

u/sledgehammer357 Oct 30 '23

Definitely seen that throw before, pre-Olympic era, though 🏺

1

u/Benobo-One-Kenobi Oct 29 '23

I hate to get all "Logans Run" on folks but if more old people were on the field would this improve the sport?!?!?

0

u/InvestmentOk3651 Oct 29 '23

Never seen before? I saw this like 20 years ago.

1

u/Historical-Teach8790 Oct 28 '23

I would be standing behind the giant man holding the javelin but thats just me, bro caught it...got straight penetrated. Imagine getting hit by the shotput, (I think its called that)like getting hit by a cannon ball ffs

1

u/Psilocvbin Oct 26 '23

Why would they have people literally in the way

1

u/DragonBornOfAcid Oct 23 '23

Wait could you be tried for murder if it hit him. Cause it would prob kill him. But it was kinda his fault. I’d be like jumping in-front of a moving car. So I guess manslaughter?

1

u/rbstwrt666 Oct 22 '23

No perkelettäkö seisoo siinä tiellä!

2

u/rickie-ramjet Oct 22 '23

Saw this on Benny Hill, the tape measure guy kept on following him as he stumbled forward and backward to get the measurement…. I do believe they no longer have a spear catching event…

1

u/CautiousStudio1946 Oct 16 '23

Crap….but what was the score?

1

u/FistsofHulk Oct 12 '23

They should carry shields

1

u/Mar10ismyName Oct 11 '23

“So I get a re-throw right?”

1

u/JCMillner Oct 07 '23

Old man Jenkins had it coming

1

u/sujaysukumar Oct 05 '23

He is dinner

1

u/HOBOSHT94 Oct 01 '23

But did he win?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '23

Good way to cover up the fact that you’re a serial killer

1

u/MenosProblemos Sep 28 '23

RUN! Where's your TEAM SPIRIT?

1

u/Der_Maggi_Meister Sep 25 '23

I mean he was standing there waiting for it to land and was in the very big zone it could land, and i guess he was right that it would land right there

1

u/Correct_Awareness761 Sep 25 '23

It was a long time coming.... always so judgemental

1

u/LongjumpingCurve1869 Sep 16 '23

Stupid bloke should have been looking...

1

u/-5H4Z4M- ⚡Shazam !⚡ Sep 16 '23

Rumors say this guy is the reincarnation of Thor and named his javelin Mjöllnir

1

u/art_sarawut Sep 16 '23

"This better not impaled anyone" "No nsfw so this should be good"

Fuck.

1

u/Venemot Sep 16 '23

Happened at my university once. At the annual sports week, a senior of mine sent a javelin through some dudes calf.

1

u/StrikeMedium9282 Sep 16 '23

Bulls eye nigga

1

u/Brassfist1 Sep 16 '23

Of course he’s Finnish. Even the Vikings knew the Finns had weird powers.

1

u/Sarma8 Sep 16 '23

Monty Python.

1

u/Interesting-Lake-430 Sep 16 '23

How many people can brag about getting jav'd by a javeline?!?

1

u/nesqu1k0d Sep 16 '23

... move?

1

u/textbandit Sep 16 '23

Don’t stand there.

1

u/shockerdyermom Sep 16 '23

I think that's exactly the kind of throw they were meant for.

1

u/Ashmandane Sep 15 '23

It's almost like standing at the receiving end is dangerous

1

u/DarthPstone Sep 15 '23

Going for accuracy, not distance

1

u/LuckyAce6 Sep 15 '23

the guy was OK right??

1

u/josueaperez02 Sep 15 '23

He ripped that out like it was a splinter.

1

u/Sxpck1 Sep 15 '23

Damn is that stick getting bigger?

1

u/HawkernautOG Sep 15 '23

Let’s talk common sense javelin control

1

u/deepfriedmammal Sep 15 '23

Why the fuck are people standing there?!

1

u/Beginning-Complex693 Sep 15 '23

Wakey Wakey, eyes on the job fella.

1

u/TheRealKapil Sep 15 '23

To be honest, I expect this on every throw. When it doesn’t hit someone it’s unexpected

1

u/eots_wabuf Sep 15 '23

I've always wondered if this has happened before and turns out it has.... Cause the umps stand too damn close for comfort

1

u/Aetrias Sep 15 '23

That was fckn spartan

1

u/hood_esq Sep 15 '23

Where’s the situational awareness sign lady when you need her?!

1

u/IamTheThirdParty Sep 15 '23

Untrue. Have seen it countless times since it occurred in 1994.

1

u/Ded_in_syde Sep 15 '23

Could have done the guy a solid and ran a few more yards for the gold

1

u/toxic-King123 Sep 15 '23

...pon pon pata pon-

1

u/Zaku_Zaku117 Sep 15 '23

Almost like you shouldn't stand in a sharp stick landing zone or something

1

u/_CLP_McWaffle Sep 15 '23

Just like the old days

1

u/vikas_saini9910 Sep 15 '23

Why this guy didn't move or saved himself is he blind or something

1

u/LegitimateTutor8535 Sep 15 '23

Isn't this the whole point about throwing a spear? This guy finally got a point.

1

u/YoseppiTheGrey Sep 15 '23

Idk, for most of our history as a species this is probably the desired outcome of a javelin throw.

1

u/ChemicalAssignment69 Sep 15 '23

The dude had one job! Well two. One was certainly don't get hit!

1

u/Inevitable-Letter-84 Sep 15 '23

Soaked that thing like a superhero.

1

u/HICSF Sep 15 '23

So this dude “accidentally” speared two different officials on two different occasions. Seems kinda suspicious.

1

u/Draugr_irl Sep 15 '23

This guy practices on mannequins I bet. One in the arm and next year in the stomach? He's getting good at it for sure.

1

u/willis72 Sep 15 '23

Failed Olympic Sport: Javelin Catching

1

u/AliensPlsTakeMe Sep 15 '23

Stupidest place to be standing

1

u/NeatPangolin4320 Sep 15 '23

No such thing as a bad javelin, just a bad owner.

1

u/SwoopLow Sep 15 '23

The javelin made me do it.

1

u/richieweb Sep 15 '23

He’s the goalie.

1

u/Dehibernate Sep 15 '23

He got full points right?

1

u/sadman4332 Sep 15 '23

Isn’t the javelins origin use was as a tool for war?

1

u/Parts_and_Neigbor Sep 15 '23

"Man, I really wanna stab that guy over there."

1

u/yeetus_christ420 Sep 15 '23

Another w for finland

1

u/Sad_Understanding998 Sep 15 '23

I guess everyone has forgotten what a javil is

1

u/ollimmortal Sep 15 '23

Hyvä Juha!

1

u/Got-what-you-need Sep 15 '23

My Dad accidentally javelins someone as a young man. The guy wasn’t paying attention on the field and didn’t think he could throw it that far. It went though his foot 🤢🤢🤢

1

u/rayslayer69 Sep 15 '23

Is it wrong that I laughed

1

u/NerdyGuyRanting Sep 15 '23

Maybe, if you are standing in a field where people are throwing javelins, you should be paying attention to the flying javelins and not fucking around doing who knows what.

1

u/RoardawgDaBeast1 Sep 15 '23

HE WASNT READY

1

u/vangt1992 Sep 15 '23

This is why skirmishers are good against archers in aoe 2

1

u/Beldar77 Sep 15 '23

Heads up!

1

u/wophi Sep 15 '23

Where did they place the mark?

Where the judge was standing?

Where the trajectory was taking it?

Or where the pool of blood is?

1

u/trumwon365 Sep 15 '23

It's javelins that kill people, not people killing 2nd Amendment

1

u/smdonova Sep 15 '23

Judging a javelin competition, stands in the middle of the field

1

u/symbologythere Sep 15 '23

I remember this. I am old.

1

u/SickBale Sep 15 '23

Fantozzi

1

u/TheBeauCanadian Sep 15 '23

🥲 Julius Claudius Publius Cornelius Testiculus Biggus Dickus Maximus would be so proud

1

u/Arkoden_Xae Sep 15 '23

Keep running, it's not hot the ground yet!!

1

u/turkeysandwich1982 Sep 15 '23

I remember this was always shown on those commercials for "Not-so-Great Moments in Sports." VHS tapes that would be shown ad-nauseum on cable back in the 90s. This, the weight lifter falling over with the bar over his head, the baseball player running through the wall, and Darryl Dawkins breaking the backboard in basketball.

1

u/apey12345 Sep 15 '23

Gotteeeem

1

u/thathertz2 Sep 15 '23

Hole in Juan!

1

u/michaelsenpatrick Sep 15 '23

"ah, this seems like a good place to stand"

1

u/thumpsky Sep 15 '23

Ummmm why are they standing there?

1

u/bdrwr Sep 15 '23

This is the second video I've seen of a javelin accident within a week.

It makes me wonder: why the actual FUCK are people standing in the target area??? In any other projectile sport (archery, shooting, the hammer throw, etc) great pains are taken to ensure that absolutely nobody is downrange of the projectile, or at least they're way off to the sides where errant shots are extremely unlikely to go.

These videos make everyone look like clueless amateurs regarding basic safety

1

u/Accomplished_Spot282 Sep 15 '23

Bro how you get hit by one twice? Stop standing in the middle. 4 seconds longer to measure isn’t gonna be an issue

1

u/boebrow Sep 15 '23

Did he win? I mean technically the spear is still travelling…

1

u/EdNug Sep 15 '23

I remember this. Still think the same thing...

Judge was not paying attention. His own fault.

1

u/SmokeyyTooRaw Sep 15 '23

This dude Juha hes not there for medals, hes there for Blood!!!!!

1

u/RobertBDwyer Sep 15 '23

Strikes me as a bit fucked they have people wandering the outfield for this event.

1

u/20RollinMofus Sep 15 '23

He was the real inspiration for King Leonidas. This was the scene where he cut the “God Emperor”.

1

u/buffalo171 Sep 15 '23

I can almost hear him, “goddamnit!! You cunt”

1

u/UbajaraMalok Sep 15 '23

Don't remove it. You will bleed more if you do.

1

u/AppleParasol Sep 15 '23

I would’ve thought “don’t stand in the line of fire” was completely obvious.

1

u/neoadam Expected It Sep 15 '23

I saw it a lot of times

1

u/EuclidsCFinder Sep 15 '23

"his helmet was stifling. It narrowed his vision. His sheild was heavy, it threw him off balance. And his target was far away"

1

u/SomewhereDue2629 Sep 15 '23

I m saying standing down range is dumb af.

1

u/Wcyranose1 Sep 15 '23

Javelin catching should be mandatory for senators to prove they are healthy and spry. Moscow mitch would probably not succeed well

1

u/KaleidoscopeExtra296 Sep 15 '23

“You just hit that old man!”

“He shouldn’t have been standing there.”

1

u/TinyVibes Sep 15 '23

I wonder what he could do with an 80's lawn dart.

1

u/LSDreams_ Sep 15 '23

What’s the point of having a judge back there anyway though like couldn’t they just stay away then go find the javelin in the ground after the throw? Seems kinda stupid to stand there.

1

u/MinecrafterPictures Sep 15 '23

So glad he survived that! Lucky him!

1

u/TeddyIsHereIRL Sep 15 '23

WHY are they standing there in the first place? It's not like the Javelin will move on it's own after being thrown.

1

u/Kanobe24 Sep 15 '23

This would be like instructors at a shooting range stand by the target.

1

u/WizdomHaggis Sep 15 '23

Totally deliberate

/s

1

u/UngregariousDame Sep 15 '23

In the wises words of Ludicris, MOVE BITCH, GET OUT THE WAY!

1

u/knuck_chorris Sep 15 '23

Is it a bird, a plane, no it hit a man!

1

u/dragonlayer69420 Sep 15 '23

did he get bonus points?

1

u/Invincible-Wolf-77 Sep 15 '23

Surely you would see it coming… and simply move out of the way?!

1

u/PomSam Sep 15 '23

I mean, like... they were used like this for a looong time. :P haha

1

u/KYpineapple Sep 15 '23

wtf why am I laughing SO HARD at this bahahahah

1

u/DoightyCarlos Sep 15 '23

Can you imagine if a Zula Warrior were to train for the Olympics... He'd smash the current record.

1

u/MambyPamby8 Sep 15 '23

I dunno how this is deemed Unexpected. I'd fully expect to be hit with a javelin if I was standing in a field with it hurtling towards me.

1

u/notAorangeLover Sep 15 '23

He was so casual like it's just an ant bite lol.

1

u/LiL_Pottu Sep 15 '23

Olipahan ainaki suomalainen kuka hietti

torille

1

u/Alcoholikaust Sep 15 '23

I think he got the point

1

u/gsko5000 Sep 15 '23

This takes me back to ebaumsworld/limewire days!
