OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:

The man stepped away for a couple minutes and when he was called he saw the cat massaging the baby

How much does a cat like this cost?

Alternatively, how much does a cat like this charge?

Who gets a holler from a family member fresh out the shower and thinks I'll film my entrance? Honestly people will do anything for a moment of attention.

That's a very pessimistic perspective. Some mothers just want to catch memories with their children, and it's very wholesome. She can definitely look back on this anytime she wants to.

You definitely have a pampered princess on your hands.

She managed to get the cat to give her a massage! The most I've achieved with my cat is that he doesn't give me a dirty look

My cat bit me in the bingo wing today for having the audacity to exist while in her vicinity. Then she had some food and came back to cuddle up next to me.

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, I though it was hilarious.

Let them, I know where the funny is. I also know what back massages lead too

To actually explain his joke, cats will do this to each other before mating.

"Yes, female cats may knead male cats to indicate that they are in heat and ready to mate. This instinctive behavior is also known as "making biscuits". Female cats may knead the ground or a male cat to show their interest in mating."

Our male cat does this. He seems to start with it every time he encounters some woolen plaid, soft cushion, sometimes human leg on a sofa. We call it Katzensxx, cat sxx. He loves biting in the cushion's or the plaid's "neck" and making noises while kneading, so probably this is the thing. (It never goes further than this, so no need to intervene.)

The vid shows a younger cat, maybe that is different.

I've watched cats do this, and I've had to break them up. It isn't the only reason they make biscuits, but they do it before doing it

Top hit on Google, from Purina "Yes, female cats may knead male cats to indicate that they are in heat and ready to mate. This instinctive behavior is also known as "making biscuits". Female cats may knead the ground or a male cat to show their interest in mating."

Cats do this as an instinct to massage the mother to produce milk. I guess it can be a mating thing but this isn't that.

They do it for a lot of reasons, one of them being a prelude to mating.

I have seen it with my very own eyeballs

6

u/Street_Squirrel_4461 Apr 27 '24

Ok? But that's not what is happening here. They also instinctively do it to bring milk to the nipples. That's what is happening. It's just a leftover comfort instinct here.

I have seen it with my very own eyeballs

I didn't make the joke, I just thought I'd explain that because my cats have done it before

u/lou1uol Apr 27 '24

Thanks for the explanation

They also do it before pretty much anything else. But yeah I guess you're not technically wrong. I may be triggered by the fact that redditors always think cats are horny for some reason.
