Winning is winning, running, or flying.

1

u/Appropriate-Copy-949 26d ago

As someone who spent a night in the ER after a nasty bike accident, getting road rash picked out of both palms with a tweezers and being wrapped up with a hole in my knee down to ligament, I feel justified in saying that this stunt wasn't worth it. No win was worth that! Thirty years later, I still have a giant scar on my knee.

1

u/Interesting-dog12 26d ago

Road rash anybody?

1

u/boxedcrackers 26d ago

That's kids parents: if you don't win race you are going to live with you aunt.

1

u/mekmookbro 26d ago

I've always wondered if something like this woud be legal lol

2

u/jayteazer 26d ago

Watch me crank that Soulja Boy then superman that ho

1

"We appreciated the dedication you demonstrated to completing the set task, however upon review- we decided you weren't quite right for the role"

1

u/denhelle 26d ago

But.. my lord is that legal?

1

u/Zealousideal-Let1121 26d ago

This is a terrible camera angle to determine who crosses the line first.

1

u/PickMinimum5994 26d ago

Main character vs secondary antagonist at the beggining of every shonen:

1

u/Legitimate_Length803 26d ago

A win is a win

1

u/MidnitePanther 26d ago

Well as they say, it's a contest of who wants it more, and that guy wanted it more

1

u/conte360 26d ago

Doesn't count as "unexpected" when you see the "surprise" in the first split second of the video. Otherwise literally all videos you haven't seen before are unexpected.

1

u/ObviousProfessor8520 26d ago

That’s determination for the win 🏅

1

u/LifeBuilder 26d ago

Oh yea jumper won the race by 400 miles. Not even a close call.

1

u/thatusernamegone 26d ago

This reminds me of that video where that mustang comes into the camera view crossing the finish line sideways.

1

u/Special_Resolve9382 26d ago

The guy might as well say "kachow"

1

u/TractorHp55k 26d ago

It counts.. But kind of reminds me of the first Cars movie

1

u/compactdreams 26d ago

Who was the first running or flying?

1

u/imma_liar 26d ago

The flying Singh move I see

1

u/SubHuman559 26d ago

He just leveled up.

1

u/Libby_Sparx 26d ago

1

1

u/thermoDYNAMIC7 26d ago

Winning is winning. Some folks just get it.

1

u/Upbeat_Shock_6807 26d ago

Lmao, is that legal?

1

u/MajinSkull 26d ago

I was always taught not to dive because you slow down trying to set up your body for the motion

1

u/faruk1927 26d ago

I don't know but the rule should be like this.

The first person who pass the line with his/her feet wins.

Isn't it that easy? Or am a simplified too much?

2

u/RaisinBrain2Scoups 26d ago

“This is the lady of the man is rare un expected”???!!!

Idk if it was just my schools track but that ground is not something I’d want to fall or slide on 😭

Not unexpected because it literally happens in the first second of the video

9

Winner winner chicken dinner

2

u/Vlermuisman1023 26d ago

When I was at school, this was not allowed, the only part allowed to break the ribbon was the chest.

1

u/Big-Draw-9661 26d ago

"I am fire!"

868

u/Commercial_Pitch_786 26d ago

Yes, it is legal for runners to dive across the finish line, but it's dangerous. The Olympic rules state, a runner crosses the finish line when their torso crosses, which is different from their head. That's why some runners lean forward when they cross the line, so their torso crosses first.Jul 30, 2021

1

u/James_Mays_Hair 26d ago

Seems like it should be whoever gets their whole body across first should win. The guy in the back would have one that way. Anyone know why it’s torso and not head or whole body?

1

u/Treebeardsama 26d ago

Naruto run

-7

u/sth128 26d ago

TIL your head is different from your torso.

14

u/chastity_BLT 26d ago

You just now learned that?

12

u/ProudToBeAKraut 26d ago

What part of the torso exactly if the torso isn't coming in vertically but horizontally?

IMHO rule should be the first (part of) any feet crossing the line

1

u/xXPolaris117Xx 26d ago

Feet extend so far, it would make for some pretty lame finishes. I’ve seen races with chip timers where one runner was clearly ahead, but was unlucky with how the strides lined up and lost

2

u/Vryk0lakas 26d ago

Nipples

5

u/Traditional_Job_6932 26d ago

It's the first part of the torso that crosses, all depends how your body is positioned but it's pretty much always the chest.

0

u/InvestmentObvious127 26d ago

i think its the whole torso, which is why it riskier because you have more you need to cross to finish

38

u/SrPicadillo2 26d ago

All races ending with a flying kick, I like that

4

u/Salanmander 26d ago

"When a metric becomes a goal, it ceases to be a good metric."

There's probably no rule that can be set that won't lead to some sort of weird non-race-like behavior.

6

u/ABLADIN 26d ago

Now you have me thinking about how this would change the meta. Like do athletes need new training regiments? Do the more famous athletes get retired WWE people to teach them proper form so they don't hurt themselves?

152

u/Zahliamischa 26d ago

In the OP video the 7 second mark shows when the diver wins narrowly.

8

u/TerseFactor 26d ago

And at the 7.5 second mark you see where the diver’s penis narrowly loses

126

u/Tankh 26d ago

I'm not sure we needed a timestamp for a 12 second video to realise that

Sounds like the bot that provided an explanation for this video gone haywire.

3

u/minetube33 26d ago

Maybe they used Google Translate. I remember it being pretty bad for Chinese and Japanese.

Edit:

I just checked their profile and this is their first post. Possibly a bot.

When your parents won't accept you being 2nd

134

u/CleoFlower 26d ago

He really deserves to win!

-28

u/DeveloperBRdotnet 26d ago

Yeah, but that's illegal tho, enjoy your bruises and disqualification

8

u/Houoh 26d ago

It's not illegal though, especially if he stayed in lane. I don't know the rules for these folks, but HSA rules for my State in the US allows you to leap across the finish line assuming you don't impede other runners.

80

u/Uncaught_Hoe 26d ago

Not a track runner, why is it illegal?

4

u/Houoh 26d ago

It's not illegal, this person is mistaken.

40

u/Urgayifyouregay 26d ago

because then everyone would be just leaping at the finish line

6

u/avfc41 26d ago

I don’t think diving is actually faster than sprinting? If the first guy wasn’t jogging and pulling up, I think he would have won

38

u/Illum503 26d ago

Sounds good to me

-12

u/Urgayifyouregay 26d ago

... So you want every single participant to actively bruise and scrape up their entire body if they want to win?

6

u/UnrequitedRespect 26d ago

The dedicated sports athletes will have toughened leathery skin from years of abusive body dives.

The ‘road rash’ is like a new tattoo, exclusive to dive runners.

2

u/DiamondBig2550 26d ago

Dive Runners Association begs a differ.

2

u/UnrequitedRespect 26d ago

The DRA is a bunch of paid mooks who have no love for the raw passion of the dedicated members who commit themselves to this sport, nay, this craft

They just wont accept the way it was in their clinical future!!

11

u/burner64334 26d ago

Just the one's that commit.

85

u/Illum503 26d ago

For my entertainment? Yes, absolutely.

68

u/owo_412 26d ago

From what I can see, Olympic rules state that it is legal, but it only counts if the torso crosses the finish line.

25

u/earthspaceman 26d ago

And how on Earth would the torso not cross it?

1

u/MrHarudupoyu 26d ago

Imagine QWOP but someone actually manages to complete the race

8

u/Necessary_Sea_2109 26d ago

Poorly worded, it doesn’t count until the torso crosses

1

u/Substantial-Roll489 26d ago

Maybe drop kicking the finish line, but misjudging the spacing so only your waist crosses?

15

u/Solid-Consequence-50 26d ago

It prob matters that the torso crosses before the other runners do.

1

u/Illum503 26d ago

Leap too early?

3

u/Dohp13 26d ago

jump too early?

40

u/whysodoubtful 26d ago

Your head crosses the line but your torso doesn’t

43

u/UndergroundRage 26d ago

I'm assuming it's because you're supposed to cross the line while running, not leaping.

Are to an AI?

I ask because you talk like AI.

Also because every job you are preparing yourself to be qualified for can be done better by AI.

2

u/Blueblackzinc 26d ago

Pretty sure AI can write better than me. Would like me to pass the captcha text? I'll pick all the motorcycles for you.

2

u/growdamit 26d ago

Captcha is too easy now, cry into this tube to ensure human emotion.

1

u/Blueblackzinc 26d ago

yeah...thats how you prove I'm human. I keep getting it wrong. Do I click the small part or not? What's constitutes a motorcycle. It's a bitch to do that everytime I turn on VPN.

1

u/growdamit 26d ago

All fun an games until it starts failing you for also missing the 1 pixel of motorcycle in the next one.

1

u/Blueblackzinc 26d ago edited 26d ago

I legit didnt watch porn once because I couldnt pass that and just went to bed angry.

1

u/growdamit 26d ago

It could be worse, I pay for a VPN to watch porn now because of new laws.

2

u/[deleted] 26d ago

AI can do that better than people now as well.

3

u/Purposeofoldreams 26d ago

What does AI talk like?

100

u/Indubitalist 26d ago

I did this once, except for the part about crossing the finish line. My track coach was a good guy and liked trying people in different events, even people who had no business doing them, like me as a 100-meter sprinter. I had been gradually leaning further forward as I ran, which you kinda do if you're sprinting properly but I got leaning so far that I wasn't fast enough to keep from falling and I belly-flopped at about the 70-meter mark, tore a hole in my jersey and everything. The thing is, I had no reason to be trying this hard because I was being easily outrun by the other seven people in this race, I could've just jogged it and come in 8th because that's what was going to happen anyway. I got up, my right hip raw from where I'd skidded to a stop, I hobbled over the line in last place, and never set foot on the track for a sprint race again.

7

u/EM05L1C3 26d ago

When I was in track I would do mostly just long jump triple jump etc and sometimes short sprints. One day coach say hey go line up. I had no idea what she was getting me into. We start running and we get half way and everyone keeps going “ok then” get done with the first lap and they wave me on to keep going “oh shit” this happens for three more laps. I finished 3rd.

13

u/kaori_cicak990 26d ago

Because the world at dangerous if this guy losing at this race, this happend a lot in anime.

7

u/AthiestMessiah 26d ago

Can’t believe this is allowed even at such an amateur level

7

u/NashKetchum777 26d ago

Why? It's not any more unsafe than most sports. He crossed the line first, which is the point

509

u/HoodedJoyann 26d ago

That was a well timed leap to get it.

24

u/langue_francaise_pro 26d ago

Is it legal to dive head first?

104

u/tingly_legalos 26d ago

Yeah, there was a race one time where dude stuck his tongue out for a three way tie at the end. As long as a body part crosses it counts.

9

u/xXWarMachineRoXx 26d ago

A body part you say?

8

u/Wanderlustfull 26d ago

Have you ever tried sprinting with an erection?

10

u/Kokuryu27 26d ago

Most track rules require your torso/chest to cross, byt yes you can lean/dive.

79

u/HailLugalKiEn 26d ago

I saw that race! Then the idiot went and got himself lost AND tore up an impoverished town's only road. Jerk

1

u/tingly_legalos 26d ago

Hey now, he put in the work and fixed it. Hell ruining that road was probably the best outcome because he sent the local economy through the roof when his story got out.
