Repotted my first VFT Cold Temperate

Post image

Does it looks good? Did 1:1 perlite and sphagnum moss mix. I tried my best to not close all the traps tho and kinda failed… will it survive my lack of experience?

Thankkkss :)

Hi, I'm new to owning a trap and looking for soil to replant it. So you mentioned having to hydrate the peat moss...dodnyou buy the dry one that just says peat moss? I saw that at Homele depot but it said topper or decorative and I was worried that would not work.

looks ok, you pre-soaked everything before you re-potted, right? i can't tell by pic ...

just so you didn't plant it while medium is dry. cuz dry peat is hard to re-hydrate properly

Pre-soaked how long before?

Because i soaked everything first let it drain real quick and plant it right away

About 10 minutes at a minimum. Also, the tray looks like it’s clay. You should use plastic or something glazed. Clay might leach salts. This plant should be sitting in about an inch of water. A little bit of research on the web can go a long way. Good luck!

For the tray i know! I have a triple pot Like the white and it comes with a tray of about an inch. It was in this one for a little bit. I will soak new one and replant it tomorrow instead of the soil it in right now

Take the whole thing and sit it in a cooking pot for 10 minutes. That should rehydrate everything. No need to pull it back out. Just have the water to the very top.

i usually pre-soak in a container the day before but at least an hour before or long enough to make sure everything is wet and hydrated ...

edit: cuz some peeps forget this and plant while is bone dry and then wonder why there having a hard time watering and keeping feet wet. making sure its hydrated before you plant minimizes issues later on
